Levy doubling down and Kahn’s friends ponying up

The friends of Domique Straus-Kahn have decided it’s time to double down and pony up.

First we have Bernard-Henri-Levy in a second piece.

I maintain that the tabloids which, the moment this story broke, and before we were aware of his version of the facts—or any facts at all—called Strauss-Kahn a “perv” (the New York Daily News headline), were indignant at his release on bail (the New York Post: “Frog Legs It”) and echoed unconfirmed rumors, always playing against him and changing every two hours (hasty departure… airline ticket purchased at the last minute… looking stressed out…), have set themselves up as judges in the place of the judges—which is still another infraction of the most elementary of rules of law.

Read the whole assault on a free press and marvel how he so easily shifts to “the system is to blame” argument, no longer querying if his friend was having lunch with his daughter, or how a mere chambermaid could have walked in alone as the Kahn defense has shifted narrative.

And while Levy keeps the pressure on in the press, Kahn’s friends are taking a different Tack that is likely to have a pretty strong effect:

“They already talked with her family,” a French businesswoman with close ties to Strauss-Kahn and his family told The Post. “For sure, it’s going to end up on a quiet note.”

Prosecutors in Manhattan have done their best to keep the cleaning woman out of the reach of Strauss-Kahn’s supporters, but the source was already predicting success for the Parisian pol’s pals.

“He’ll get out of it and will fly back to France. He won’t spend time in jail. The woman will get a lot of money,” said the source, adding that a seven-figure sum has been bandied about.

Talk about an international monetary fund, with her extended family living in poverty without electricity let along modern conveniences it’s no wonder they are feeling confident.

I’ve often talked about how the attitude of the left is that of a feudal Lord. You won’t find a better example of it that this case period.

For those of you looking to make the US into Europe lite, be careful of what you wish for.
