…having you call the cops on them is not one of them.
and the Democratic Party will put up with a lot of things as well. Making them look like idiots isn’t one of them either.
It still is all going to come down to Weiner. At this point there is no sign of any law broken or congressional rules broke, (I don’t think the “security breach rule’ would apply to a twitter account) As long as Weiner is willing to take the grief (and a guy named Weiner must have taken it all his life) he will be able to finish his term.
The question becomes will the democrats primary him? There has to be a ton of hungry young pols in NY who want his job. I’ll wager the party backs one.
Update: Stacy McCain opines at the am spectator:
Kramer managed to talk her way out of being arrested, but her experience Thursday in some sense symbolized Weiner’s problem: Every time he talks to reporters about last Friday’s incident, he digs himself a little bit deeper into a hole of implausibility.
And democrats continue to run for the hills:
Though generally mum in public, Democrats privately fumed at the forced detour in their arguments about Medicare and spending, leaving the generally well-liked seven-term congressman from Brooklyn and Queens largely to fend for himself for a third day in a row. Most Republicans seemed content to let the controversy simmer.
and the repeated Jon Stewart pieces don’t help either.
