At least that is how the media is likely to spin this:
A 22-year-old Alexandria man has been charged with shooting at military buildings in the D.C. region last fall, and federal officials said in court papers that he videotaped himself shouting “Allah Akbar” after he fired shots at the U.S. Marine Corps museum.
Yonathan Melaku, a Marine Reservist, was taken into custody Friday under suspicious circumstances at Arlington National Cemetery. At the time, he carried a backpack that held plastic baggies with ammonium nitrate, a material that can be used to make a bomb as well as a notebook that included references to Osama bin Laden and “The Path to Jihad.”
And at least one person in comments is asking for restraint:
Yonathan is not an Arabic name. The Arabic equivalent to John is Hannan. Melaku is not necessarily Arabic. Not all Arabs are Muslims and not all terrorists are Muslim. Allah Akbar sounds like the shooter is Muslim, but it could have been someone wanting attention. In any case, until we have more information we can be accused of racial profling.
Yup no reason at all to think this is anything more than a desperate cry for help just like these fellows and he might not have been saying “Allah Akbar” maybe it was more like “Al, ya at bar?” which everyone knows is the name of a traditional Flemish drinking song.
We all know who the real terrorists are!
Every day that we deny this problem we put ourselves in danger.

Hmm. “Marine Corps Reservist who is Muslim”, “notebook referring to Al Qaeda and the Taliban”, Nope, no reason to think he may actually be a muslim.
US Citizens, and especially members of our military, who levy war against America or provide aid and comfort to our enemies should be charged with treason (Article III, Section 3 — US Constitution). And although American citizen should be entitled to the very best criminal defense available, if found guilty of treason they should be . . . . wait for it . . . put against a wall and shot! Allow me to highlight some historical and constitutional perspectives.
Our Constitution is a document that identifies a model for government, the creation of law, and the chain of command for the defense of our nation. It establishes methods for creating law, not codifying it. Yet, our founding fathers did use this document to define one, and only one, crime. Treason.
Why would they do this? Because treason is national suicide! And our founders, fresh from a prolonged war with Britain, understood this from experience. It is not the foreign enemy that is most to be feared. It is the enemy within that can bring about immediate destruction.
Yet, since the Rosenberg’s execution in 1953 for espionage, we as a people cannot seem to conclude that traitorous behavior earns the penalty of death.
We are at war. And American citizens have willfully taken arms against their own country and provided aid to our enemies. And it has resulted in American deaths (clear case in point — SGT Hasan Akbar). Yet we cannot bring ourselves to execute traitors.
I cannot see how we survive as a nation if we continue to coddle traitors in our midst.
