On Morning Joe today the Panel laughed at Rick Perry’s statements on Climate Change
“I think we’re seeing almost weekly, or even daily, scientists that are coming forward and questioning the original idea that manmade global warming is what is causing the climate to change,” the Texas governor said on the first stop of a two-day trip to the first-in-the-nation primary state.
He said some want billions or trillions of taxpayer dollars spent to address the issue, but he added: “I don’t think from my perspective that I want to be engaged in spending that much money on still a scientific theory that has not been proven and from my perspective is more and more being put into question.”
The joined lefty blogs from Think progress to Little Green Footballs who are jumping all over this statement
Climate skeptics love Perry, and this kind of rhetoric is why. While Mitt Romney is out and about on the campaign trail agreeing with the overwhelming scientific status quo on the topic, Perry appears poised to take up a view of climate change on the presidential campaign trail that would be right at home in a Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) floor speech.
Firedoglake’s statements are particularly ironic as they hit Perry’s science grades (without comparing them to Obama’s I wonder why)
In a way this makes sense from Perry’s point of view. As he got pretty much D’s and C’s in science, meaning the scientists were better at science than he was, which is not surprising. But he also got the same grades in political science, economics and history. So the scientists were better at that too. But hey, he’s a moronic Republican Governor from Texas, so if he somehow malaprops his way into the White House he can use Bush’s old lines about who the President is when he gets surrounded by “egg heads” and their 3.0 and better GPAs.
On Morning Joe they contrasted him to Romney on this, favoring Romney. This is no surprise as Ed Morrissey points out
His position on AGW hardly comes as a surprise, but it does draw a big contrast with Romney. Romney angered conservatives in June by declaring his belief in AGW, and then refusing to repudiate it a few days later. His promise not to push any policies addressing it didn’t exactly fill the Right with confidence, either.
The problem for the MSM here is that while they totally ignored the Climate Change Scandals of last year, Rush Limbaugh, Fox and blogs did not. I have 20 posts tagged “Climategate” and if you do a search at Instapundit for “climategate” and you will find pages of links.
On you tube yow will find videos like this:
And unlike the MSM we’ve also seen stories like this:
Back on April 11th, Gavin Atkins of Asian Correspondent asked this simple question: What happened to the climate refugees?
It is a valid question, and he backs it up with census numbers
Or lets put in another way. Any person who reads this post or watches this episode of Ed Driscoll’s Silicon Graffiti
…is more informed on the issue than anyone who gets their news solely from MSNBC or Morning Joe
Bottom line because the Pauline Kaels of the MSM refused to look at this story (as they have ignored the Gunwalker scandal) millions of Americans are ahead of them on the curve. The panelists on Morning Joe are laughing at Rick Perry now but in 2012 will they be saying: “I don’t know how Richard Perry could have won. I don’t know anybody who voted for him.”
Update: As Gavin Atkins gives a brief history of leftist hysteria on Climate Change the Washington Post Challenges Perry on his climate change stuff while pooh poohing the scandal that they gave short shift to in the first place.
