As Morning Joe lionized Rob Reiner and his one day play on Prop 8 a much more interesting story has been taking place that the MSM has no interest in.

Catholic mom blogger Stacy Trasancos put up a post a few weeks ago concerning taking her kids to the park.

The same people who say I shouldn’t impose my morality on them, are imposing immorality on me and my children to the point that I literally have a hard time even leaving my home anymore to do something as simple as visit the park. And this is freedom?

Now understand this. Stacy’s blog is a small blog, part of a circle of Catholic Mom Blogs etc. Looking at her twitter numbers they aren’t spectacular

The blog post was found by members of the Gay community and linked worldwide and it resulted in a gigantic traffic spike…and some of the most hate filled and disgusting comments that the peace and tolerance crowd can produce:

The LGBT community has now linked to this at reddit, and I just got the 824th comment and screenshot it. [“What a c*nt. I hope her children are kidnapped, raped, and murdered. It would be better than having them grow up with such a twisted f*ck for a mother!”] I also have the IP address of the commenter. Please stop threatening my family.

Apparently unlike Ann Barnthart she is not heavily armed so we don’t see directions to her house, but she also has Lisa Graas who has her back both at the American Catholic.

My friend Stacy Trasancos, a fellow Catholic mom who is concerned about the world her children have to grow up in, is under attack from the ‘gay rights’ community for daring to write what she thinks about public displays of affection. She’s received death threats, which she has reported to law enforcement, and is naturally questioning whether or not she should continue to simply speak publicly about her beliefs.

I believe it is important at this time for the Catholic blogosphere to come to her aid by offering support in the form of encouragement and in the form of condemning the tactics of the ‘gay rights’ movement against people of faith who simply would like to take their kids to the park without having to risk exposure to depravity, not to mention who would simply like to write what they think about things on a blog.

And at her own site she has blogged extensively on the subject.

This is a great victory for all orthodox Catholic moms in America when Perez Hilton, the most popular “gay” blogger in America, is found to be such a weakling who is so full of the fear (yes, fear) of Catholicism that he cannot pass on the chance to point to this average, every day Catholic mom in Massachusetts and call her a “homophobe”. This is not being done to her because she is “Stacy Trasancos” (he has no idea who Stacy is personally and uniquely) and not because she has done something herself that is wrong. It is being done to her because she thinks the very same way every other orthodox Catholic mom in America thinks on this issue, myself included. She is enduring this for all of us….and we are grateful to her for her strength in this time of trial.

There is an old saying that you don’t punch down, but I think her foes were not punching down, if you are hitting a person with faith in God then you are always punching up.

Consider: Perez Hilton is an internationally known pompous ass celebrity with a lot of people who follow him, yet he is afraid of the views of a Catholic Mom with a couple of hundred followers on facebook and a small column in a weekly diocesan paper.

It sure sounds like someone is insecure in their beliefs, has the actual fear of God, or both.

She has also been taking hits from the Atheist community and some Catholics who thought she should stay silent she responded with Jeremiah reading that I quoted a few weeks ago:

You duped me, O LORD, and I let myself be duped;
you were too strong for me, and you triumphed.
All the day I am an object of laughter;
everyone mocks me.

I say to myself, I will not mention him,
I will speak in his name no more.
But then it becomes like fire burning in my heart,
imprisoned in my bones;
I grow weary holding it in, I cannot endure it.

In fact all of the August 28th readings would fit perfectly.

She also has an answer to a person who decided to play logical substitution but left out a bit:

See, while Catholics will read this, I can promise you with 100% certainty that there will be no herds of Christians following each other over to find you and tell you that you are a hateful, bigoted, Catholic-o-phobe. Absolutely no one would even consider telling you anonymously that they hope your children are “kidnapped, raped and murdered.” There probably won’t even be any more emotional reaction than a shrug because we’ve heard it all before, and we realize we stand among a rich history of saints and martyrs far better than us who have suffered for the preservation of our Faith. We don’t demand that you approve of us.

This weekend she called into DaTechGuy on DaRadio (Saturday 10 a.m. EST WCRN in case you don’t know) and told a bit of her story. As of that weekend she has been given a permanent standing invitation to be on the show.

End result? Thanks to the efforts of all those who have hated her and threatened her and her children she now has the means at her disposal to give her opinion and thoughts to an audience in 6 states with 50,000 watts of power to back her up and I intend to continue keep that means available to her as long as I can.

I suspect a few of you are upset at that, maybe even some of those who threatened her but there are two things that keep me from being worried. The first being the job description:

If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me also hates my Father. If I had not done works among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father. John 15:18-24

And the second? I’ve found for some reason the type of people who have no problem threatening women and their small children tend to hesitate to make the same threats to adult Sicilian men. Odd isn’t it?

Final thought: Wouldn’t you think that threats against a mother of 7 and her children might be newsworthy? I would have thought so, but apparently such threats might portray a community that the MSM supports in a bad light, so no seat next to Rob Reiner for her.

Update: On Sept 24 Jose Trasancos came on the show and for the second time in a week was able to give his opinions with 50,000 watts of power, For Perez Hilton and that renowned defender of women and children Dianne Williamson it equals EPIC FAIL…

…also anyone who met her husband would think twice about threatening his family

…but Eric Boehlert has written asking for the complete unedited video of Andrew Breitbart’s Lexington appearance.

I thought I repeat my answer to him here:

Hello Eric:
Per your questions:

I have posted all the video I shot with the exception of a 13 second clip of an incomplete sentence of a great story on Greg Gutfeld. (I really should have recorded that, it was rather funny). In the interest of full disclosure I’ll upload it so you can see it. None of the video has been edited in any way.

These are the posts I’ve written on the event

Meanwhile for those on the left convinced somehow that there is a smoking gun to prove that Breitbart is part of a secret tea party plot to exterminate all who disagree with him (Judging from the comments I’ve seen on the other videos, that seems to be what the “I don’t have a life brigade” think) missing from my videos, here is the missing 13 seconds:

Riveting isn’t it?

…and they were right!

An attorney in her mid-thirties has resorted to topless dancing to make ends meet while she goes back to grad school and gets a degree.  The legal job market is a mess and will not recover for a long time; the profession is also rather overcrowded, so many JDs never even practise law.   Furthermore, attractive young women have always been well-compensated for taking their clothes off for men, should they so choose that route.

But… okay, you’re a thirty-something lawyer with nine years of experience in the field.  Surely, there are jobs out there that would pay you at least the $20/hour you get for taking your clothes off for strangers, right?  Rather than having a family who is “proud” of you for doing whatever needs to be done to make ends meet, shouldn’t that family open up a home?  (Not that I’m a fan of thirty-somethings boomeranging back home, but if it’s that or letting strangers gaze at your naked breasts for money, surely, the spare bedroom in the parents’ house is a sensible solution.)

Thoughts, dear readers?

Such a post wouldn’t be complete without a conservative feminist rant, so here it is: the government thought that it was being “compassionate” and giving everyone an “opportunity” by funding generous, virtually unlimited student loans.  Unfortunately, it didn’t repeal the law of economics at the same time, so the influx of easy cash created a bubble in the higher education market.   Economists have estimated that universities raise tuition concurrent with raises in available federal financial aid. Moreover, schools have an incentive to accept as many students as possible, training them in whatever fields they desire, even if there isn’t a market for those skills.  Thus, young people have an easy time getting loans, but the loans are for such huge amounts of money, often in very crowded or low-paying fields, that they become difficult or impossible to pay off.  So we’ve gotten to the situation in which young women’s best prospects for financial solvency involve selling their bodies – the exact situation which easy student loans and access to higher education was supposed to prevent, but one that sets women’s advancement back to the nineteenth century nonetheless.

You might recall Netflix created a real PR disaster back in July which gave a lot of unpalatable choices all involving more money or less service.

I decided to go with streaming and 1 DVD to drop my price by $4 because I didn’t want to go through the trouble of changing stuff.

But 4% of the Netflix subscriber base decided it was enough:

Investors punished Netflix shares following the pricing announcement and again 18 days ago when Starz canceled its streaming contract. Then on Thursday, Netflix delivered news no one wanted to hear: Lower subscriber numbers. Netflix says it expects to end the quarter with 2.2 million DVD-only subscribers instead of the 3 million projected in July, and 9.8 million streaming only customers instead of the 10 million it had previously forecast. Combined that works out to 1 million fewer subscribers than the 25 million Netflix expected. Shares plunged by nearly 19 percent on Friday before closing down 8.31 percent.

Well Mr. Hastings decided that the smart thing to do was to apologize

It is clear from the feedback over the past two months that many members felt we lacked respect and humility in the way we announced the separation of DVD and streaming, and the price changes. That was certainly not our intent, and I offer my sincere apology

And then stick us again (emphasis mine)

Another advantage of separate websites is simplicity for our members. Each website will be focused on just one thing (DVDs or streaming) and will be even easier to use. A negative of the renaming and separation is that the and websites will not be integrated. So if you subscribe to both services, and if you need to change your credit card or email address, you would need to do it in two places. Similarly, if you rate or review a movie on Qwikster, it doesn’t show up on Netflix, and vice-versa.

Explain to me how two different web sites, two different bills, two different passwords (and another chance to be phished or hacked) is EASIER. How tone-deaf is this guy?

So those of us who didn’t drop them get a whole new set of hoops to jump through. I took a look at the comments at his blog and they are devastating. My two favorites are from that liberal Mecca San Francisco. The first from Jeremiah Cohick

You’re continuing to make a classic mistake: thinking you’re something different than what everyone believes you are. You’re not a DVD company and a streaming company: you’re where I go to watch movies. That’s it. The future clearly is streaming, but by separating and charging more for access, you’re wildly less valuable to me. I’ll likely cancel. You haven’t listened to customer feedback. You’re delusional and you’re lost.

And the second from Patti Beadles

…So, from my point of view as a customer, you’ve just repeated the mistake of making my service less pleasant while offering me absolutely no benefit in return. The difference is that you’ve done it with more words and some conciliatory language from last time. In net, this seems even worse for me as a customer. A couple of extra bucks out of my pocket each month is annoying, but doesn’t really affect my life much. With this change, I have to make extra effort each and every time I use the service. That may be enough to finally push me over the edge.

Looking at their facebook profiles I suspect we have very little in common but I’ll tell you this we have this idea in common, this is just not worth it. If he is lucky I’ll just cancel one service or the other, but I don’t think he’ll be that lucky.

That makes two YOU FOOL moments in under 2 days.

Via live at five

I’ve been pretty busy this weekend but as I checked my e-mail I noted that my videos of Breitbart in Lexington were drawing not only a respectable number of hits but an inordinate amount of comments, primarily from the left.

It wasn’t until a few minutes ago that I had time to google it to find out why and what to my wondering eyes would appear but Charles Johnson’s site Little Green Footballs using my video and pushing the (false) idea that Breitbart is calling for civil war.

It brought me back to the days when I pointed out that the right was armed and the left not back in an e-mail on Instapundit, it was the first time I was called a Nazi by a vast swath of people I’d never met.

But I found something much more interesting and that was the hit counts for the videos themselves.

There was a time when attention from Charles Johnson’s site drew new coverage and debate. Where his linkage might take a video viral.

It hit me I would be able to see what kind of influence Charles had by the number of views on the video. Both Charles and Crooks and liars liked to it and as they are important sites of the left I expected to see viral numbers all over it. So I went to Youtube and took a screen shot. The total number of hits Charles and Crooks have generated for the video they have embedded is wait for it….

4318 views as of 9:53 p.m. EST Sunday night. That’s it? Is all the attention that LGF, Crooks and Liars and the other minor leftist sites combined can generate for a video they claim shows Breitbart pining for a new civil war?

In comparison Ladd Ehlinger’s surfing Rabbi video which was released only a day or two before ny-9 managed to draw over 10,000 views with only limited linkage from the right.

Alas how the mighty have fallen. Gone apparently are the days when people like Dan Rather and Mary Mapes feared what Charles Johnson and his ilk had to say. Now look he can’t even outdraw a short term ad even with Crooks and Liars to help him.

Given the choice of having him back as an ally of the right or not, I think I’ll stick with Film Ladd, Stacy McCain Glenn Reynolds and Andrew Breitbart. They have more relevance and spread that relevance among those who work with them. That’s why it was Big Journalism editor Dana Loesch sitting with CNN before the last debate, and not Kilgore Trout.

Update: here is the screen shot:

Sorry chucky you banned Peg who was doing me a favor, no link for you

I would have put a link but he banned Peg (among others) for doing me a favor, no link for you.

Update: Instalanche, thanks Glenn and Stacy McCain has a killer line as usual:

Some people can’t deal with this blunt statement of reality. And there is a place for people who can’t deal with reality: Little Green Footballs.

Update:2 Mediate has linked it too, they seem to do better for hits but the commentators still seem to be twisting it. I note that the views have doubled since Glenn Reynolds, Stacy and Mediate have linked, too bad Charles can’t drive traffic like that.
