The Epic Fail of the Wall Street Protests

by Datechguy | October 3rd, 2011

One of the most amusing things we will be seeing over the next few days will be the media’s attempt to highlight and legitimize the “Occupy Wall Street” protests.

The sudden interest fits the entire “Evil Wall Street” meme from the left’s worldview and Wall Street’s unwillingness to fund the left likely makes a difference in coverage too.

Those factors count but the single most important issue is the need to project power at a time when the left influence is almost non-existent. After two years of the tea party advancing against the wind of the media and the elites trying to take them aback, those same elites hope to provide the breeze to fill their sails.

Like the coffee party and each other attempt to create a tea party alternative this is doomed to failure, for several reasons:

1. Turf toe

One will see familiar faces both in the protests and in support of the protests. It is the same crews we have seen over and over again raging against the machine and the even more familiar elites of the left in support of them.

The Contrast with the tea party is striking and more importantly visible and the sight of movie stars who make their living off corporate money standing with them won’t help either.

2. Social networks:

One might think that the social networking would favor the left but, in fact, it’s a significant disadvantage. Social networks although useful for organization, allow the right to bypass the MSM. Thus instead of MSM lionization thanks to twitter, facebook, and the blogs, the first exposure many have to the protesters is ridicule such as…

and believe me that will be shared all over.

The social network that turned the whole “fight the smears” campaign into a punchline are well on their way to do the same with the Occupy wall street crew.

3. Those damn pictures/videos:

A corollary of the whole New media and social media scene are the pictures coming out of these events. When you have people railing against cooperate greed with laptops and IPADS and running to McDonalds for a bathroom it really doesn’t work.

I mean check out this video via Gateway pundit:

The chants of “we are sorry” is an excellent description of a monochromatic group after chasing away a black congressman.

The MSM is unlikely to give that video much play but again thanks to social networks it and other interesting photos of protesters can’t be hidden.

4. Tea Party compare and contrast

For 3 years we have been told by the MSM, Media Matters, Morgan Freeman and anyone else that the left cared to drag out of the woodwork that the tea party is a group of Racist, Sexist, bigoted homophobic rednecks who want to violently overthrow the government and are high in saturated fat (OK that one I made up). Yet these tea party rallies that have taken place all over the country have not only been lacking in violence and trouble (unless you count violence against tea partiers), but the tea party protestors have the annoying (to the left) habit of cleaning up after themselves

and others.

In one week the Occupy Wall Street people have managed more trouble and cost and arrests to cities and taxpayers than the tea party has managed in three years.

What will be the end result of all of this? The MSM and the left will give a lot of lip service to these protests but they will not only fail to move congress but will only serve to further move voters away from the left in general and Obama in particular.

What does this mean for the right? Just one thing:

Ride right through them, they’re demoralized as hell!

Guys if the Wall Street Protest gets you nervous you are nervous about 2012 MAN UP!

    “Occupy Wall Street” ???

    Feh.

Call me when they “Occupy Pennsylvania Avenue.”

“the tea party protestors have the annoying (to the left) habit of cleaning up after themselves”

They’re taking work away from trash collectors. It’s gotta annoy the trash collectors union! :)

  3. David Aitken says:

We should join these protests with signs like “We want to be more like North Korea!”

  4. Ernst Blofeld says:

I see the usual suspects at the Occupy Wall Street protests–a bunch of bozos who always show up for these things, it seems mostly as a fashion statement. The Tea Party people were solid bourgeois burghers, which is what made it so remarkable. They don’t “protest” as a way of life.

BTW, when will the MSM start doing hostile pieces on the OWS demonstrators? Hit pieces that call them ignorant, the tools of shadowy string-pullers, violent, and so on? All of those criticisms are far more valid for this group of spoiled children than of the Tea Party.

  5. Does this mean that Obama’s no longer standing between the bankers and the pitchforks? Chicago-style retribution?

It’d be a shame if anything happened to your street or your health, bankers…

  6. They went full commie, man. Never go full commie. http://wp.me/p1NAwV-qB
