Q & A from the Santorum Conference Call Yesterday

I’ve written about the concept of yesterday’s conference call with Rick Santorum but not about the actual questions asked and answered. Here is a quick rundown all Q & A are based on my notes:

Andrea Shea King—Q Will you go through with the debate with Trump? Answer: Yes. I was one of the only candidates who didn’t beat a path to Trumps door yet those who did have gone running. After all the tough questions I’ve faced the last thing I’m worried about is a question from Donald Trump.

Stacy McCain: The media tries to portray you as one trick pony on social issues. How do you get around that? Answer: I’ve spent most of the time on economics and the like but the bottom line is you can’t have strong economy without strong family. I am the best guy on Economics but also the best choice on entitlement reform, taxes and spending and foreign policy.

Maggie’s notebook: Who would be the EPA director would they give back land seized by Bush and Obama administration? Answer: I don’t have a name currently for that position but I’d want a person who shares my vision. The EPA needs to be put back in its box. An Santorum administration would want to get rid of as much federal land as possible while preserving national parks and forests.

Steven Ertelt: There was a dust-up with Gingrich stating he believes beginning of life is implantation and switched and then switched. Answer: Life begins at conception, it’s not a belief it’s an incontrovertible fact and should not be conceded. (Follow up on Gingrich’s pro-life record in the House) Answer: He was not a pro-life warrior, it was not a critical issue compared to other issues. There was always an attempt to put social issues on the back of the bus.

Tina Korbe: Why have you not had the boomlit? Answer: I’m pretty boring no scandals no big gaffes no pizzaz (Follow up Does that indicate a lack of desire to be president and just to advance issues) Answer: (sarcastically) Yeah I’m leaving family for months and going through all of this just to draw attention to issues. to draw attention

Me: Given the current endorsements and the comments of people like Cokie Roberts How high do you need to finish to go on. Answer: We are planning to win of course but the expectations are low so that’s pretty good for us. The idea is to in or near the money…. (Follow up How significant is it that you a strong Catholic have been endorsed by an Evangelical Pastor and a Mormon sec of state this week) Answer These are folks who know me and spend time with me, if you want to get to know them, you can. That is what matters over religion. In Time 2005 listed as the top 25 evangelicals even though he I’m Catholic. I was the only non-pastor listed in the group “The Point man not just on marriage and poverty , international, jihadist, Israel, and growing government.

Lonely conservative: Do you think that Paul Ryan’s plan is “Right Wing Social Engineering”? Answer: No and I was shocked that he made the comment. It will be thrown back in his face and will congressmen who supported it down the ticket.

Lisa Graas: Are you getting to Mass & eating veggies Answer: I try to fit in mass on a regular basis and wife makes sure I am eating right on the road.

Sissy Willis: Talks a little about Palin “semi endorsement” Answer: It was very gracious of her and sent e-mail thanking her. Brings up the Santorum amendment to the No child left behind bill. Science of Global warming is specious as best compared to the knowledge of where life begins.

There you have it. Conservative questions asked by conservative pundits and conservative answers given.

Any questions?
