At the Santorum Town Hall and the place is crawling with press which is quite a contrast to the last Santorum event I attended where I WAS the entire press.
Today Jake Tapper, Joe Klein, Mark Shields and many more are congregated here to listen watch and cover Rick Santorum as he speaks to and debates with a college crowd that is not extremely friendly.
His best line of the day: America is a Melting Pot not a Salad bowl!
He has taken question on the military, on energy and on Gay Marriage where he simply hit the ball out of the park but the most interesting thing about his answers have been that he is not afraid to defend his beliefs and make his arguments based on reason.
It’s common for candidates to start to equivocate once the camera’s eye is upon them, Santorum does not and his impassioned defense of western civilization was quite a sight to see. . That is extremely appealing to me personally.
