You know I am really getting upset at the reaction to Newt Gingrich’s moonbase idea.
I would argue that we have to get our economy in order before we consider such a thing but for whatever reason this has all become a joke. On morning Joe they are laughing, on John Stewart they are laughing.
It’s an amazing thing to see for me. From the airplane to the Moon Landing to the PC Americans have a tradition of doing thing that people considered simply impossible just a few generations ago.
The idea of a moon base and the science behind it is a much smaller leap than the idea of going to the Moon in the first place, or the idea of maned flight, or the idea of organ transplants.
Does anyone remember the 6 million dollar man? Take a look at the artificial limbs that are out there today. They would have been the stuff of fantasy when I was a kid.
And consider this, when a country dreams big dreams it’s citizens do as well, in fact in these times people NEED to believe that they can achieve and do better for themselves.
A country and a people unwilling to dream big dreams or achieve big things, will not do either.

Of course Joe and Stewart are laughing. It’s what they do. Typical Leftists, tearing down those who care to think bigger than they themselves do. WHAT HAVE THEY EVER DONE OR PRODUCED?
Gingrich, like Reagan is right. We have to aspire to more than hunkering down and just trying to squeak through. It’s time we stop letting our dreams be defined by those who are only interested in covering their own ass and justifying their existence on the org chart and who have NEVER DONE ANYTHING SUBSTANTIAL IN THEIR LIVES! A moon base may or may not be a useful thing to have but it’s a lot more inspiring than merely complying with the latest politically correct diktat.
Here is a post with which I wholeheartedly agree. Mitt’s attempt to ridicule a moon base during last night’s debate showed me what a small minded bureaucrat that man really is.
I have a game group that you might be familiar with, we are all of different political persuasions of left right and center with vastly different positions on both fiscal and social issues. None of the group likes Obama but with the exception of myself they’ve declared they will not vote for Romney if he is the nominee. And we ALL live in Massachusetts and all had Romney as our governor.
