That was Cherie Royayne who I interviewed yesterday

The Water Cooler feature adds a light touch and with all the serious stuff that we discuss we sometimes forget laughing at life can be good.

I’m thinking of adding her as a once a month closing feature to the show, if you would like to hear more of Cherie let me know if comments.

And if you don’t want to wait a month check out the WCRN morning show Fridays at 8:45

Lt. Kaminsky: You wanted confirmation, Captain? Take a look! There’s your confirmation!

Tora Tora Tora 1970

Egypt has had a rough time since the initial coups that brought Nasser to the throne.

They’ve lost multiple wars, they’ve had authoritarian leaders, the people have been oppressed and the dictators and powerful and mainly filtered the aid wealth to themselves instead of improving the lot of the avg Egyptian.

So you can imagine with his first speech the first democratically elected president of Egypt, newly congratulated by Obama on his win would be focusing on solving these problems with his first speech wouldn’t you?

In his first public speech addressing tens of thousands of mostly Islamist supporters, Egypt’s president-elect Mohammed Morsi has vowed to free the blind sheik jailed in the U.S. for a plot to blow up New York City landmarks.

Morsi, Egypt’s first Islamist and civilian president-elect, promised Friday to work to free Omar Abdel-Rahman, the spiritual leader of men convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Well if you are a person who gets his news from the MSM you are likely shocked and surprised. After all those warning about the Muslim Brotherhood came from people like Pam Geller and Robert Spencer and Front Page Magazine and blogs on the right.

How can this be? You KNOW the Muslim brotherhood is not radical, Barack Obama’s administration told you so, why one of Mrs. Clinton’s closest aides mother is in the women’s version of the organization.

Now however they have power in Egypt, the mask is off. You don’t have to believe hotair or the PJ Tatler or me, you can see the reports at CBS news ABC and the New York Times

Now I don’t blame the Muslim Brotherhood president of Egypt for doing this, like the tale of the Scorpion and the Frog he is acting according to his nature (no doubt learned in his years at USC) nor do I blame the Egyptian people who have the right to elect the president of their choice…but NOW that the choice is made it is up to the US to make them aware that such a choice has consequences.

And before you make the “oh it’s a different culture” argument consider this from Allahpundit:

Bear in mind, this guy has a Ph.D from USC, taught at Cal State-Northridge for three years in the early 80s, and has two children who are American by birth. This isn’t a case of a random Arab politician demagoging America by praising some jihadist degenerate who plotted against the U.S. This is a guy who lived here, studied here, worked here, and had kids here. And now he’s looking to spring someone who was even further ahead of the terrorist curve than Bin Laden. Go figure that a Truther would make freeing characters like Rahman a priority.

So now the mask is off and our friends on the left have to decide: Confronted with this new reality are they going to deal with it directly acknowledging what is going on and acting accordingly or is their hatred of Pam Geller, Robert Spencer,Kathy Shaidle and all of us who have sounded the warning for years just too comfortable for them to abandon it over a little thing like freeing the first person who tried to take down the World Trade center?

Your call people.

On Morning Joe in the 7:15 hour David Gregory was asked by Harold Ford if Democrats will now be running on Obamacare. To those who have cheering the loudest over Obamacare being upheld, he answer was astounding:

He said congressional candidates in tough districts will not want to run on it and even the White House will may not want to own this issue, although they do.

Think about this all of you guys on the left who are cheering this morning and all you on the right who are glum. On the day when the Democrats should be in full celebratory mode, where the Morning Joe crowd is bursting with Schadenfreude you have the White House and congressional candidates running away after a huge victory. We haven’t seen anything like this since McClellan and the seven days.

Meanwhile Mitt Romney has raised millions in under 24 hours and at the same time the Democrats can’t pay for their own convention the GOP is spending $2.2 million to promote GOP house candidates ON BOSTON TV.

As General Nathanael Greene said after Bunker Hill: I wish we could sell them another hill at the same price.

Update: Just after I published this Eric Cantor on Morning Joe called this a Pyrrhic victory for the White House and Chuck Todd when asked directly by Joe Scarborough if the “Claire McCaskill will want to run on this.” Todd admitted she and others congressional candidates are being “very careful” on this.

I hope the democrats enjoyed their one night stand, because their party will be paying for it through November and beyond.

Update 2: Michael Graham gets it:

Keeping Obamacare alive means Mitt Romney still has this unpopular plan to campaign against, including the individual mandate, the most unpopular part (60 percent of Americans oppose it). Do you really think turning the mandate from a government edict to a massive tax hike will make it more popular?

Update 3: That’s gotta smart

Update: The DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in progress, our goal is $3000 and any help is appreciated. (Hey if Mitt can raise 2.4 million in 24 hours a foot soldier in this fight should be worth at least $3000 or so. Today along with several other bloggers I was on a conference call with three congressional candidates in Massachusetts

Jon Golnik who is running in the 3rd district (my new district) Jeff Semon running in the 5th district (who appeared on my radio show a few weeks ago) and Chris Sheldon running in the 9th district.

They answered questions on Multiple Subjects on Obamacare, on their primary opponents, on Term limits (Interesting contrast there Jeff Semon is for them, Jon Golnik is against not liking to fiddle with the constitution and Chris Sheldon saying he would vote for such a bill but won’t unilaterally term limit himself without a law)

When the time for my question came I mentioned the Aaron Walker Swatting asking if they would sign onto senator Chambliss’ letter if elected and would support a new such letter assuming a president Romney won. Their answers were notable in several ways.

Firstly they all knew about the issue. That might not seem odd but in the last 48 hours I’ve talked to more than a dozen offices of house and senate members for comment and the majority of the offices I spoke to had no idea what SWATTING was, yet all three of these potential congressmen knew about the issue and spoke forcibly on the subject

Mr Semon not only said he would sign but declared it “sad” that it would be necessary to press the Attorney General to investigate such lawbreaking. Mr. Sheldon agreed saying ” the question but strongly objected Mr. Golnik saying he would sign, Mr. Sheldon called the SWATTINGS “outrageous” objecting to any attempt to intimidate members of the press including bloggers. Mr. Golnik agreed with both of his compatriots.

How is it that these three men knew about this issue without prompting when in office after office senator’s staff’s needed the situation explained?

Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why the GOP is feeling its oats in Massachusetts. The National GOP is putting 2.2 million dollars into ads for house races on Massachusetts TV.

Run that through your head a second in a year when Democrats can’t even pay for their own convention, a year when the president is reduced to begging newly weds for a share of their dowry and birthday money the GOP finds their prospects good enough to put 2.2 mill into the pot in Massachusetts.

As Chris Sheldon put it: “It’s telling, Obama recognizes he is in trouble and they are doubling down” and Jeff Semon noted that this is not their fathers or grandfathers democratic party and Jon Golnik says that with 55% unenrolled in his district it will be jobs jobs jobs.

If this is where we are today then the Democrats have a nasty surprise in store for them.

Ali Akbar: “…And if this law passes we’ll repeal it.”

DaTechGuy: “No we won’t!”

Boston: January 17th 2010

OK people on the left, you wanted Obamacare to be upheld it has been. Your huge tax increase on the American people (that you pretended was not) is legal.

To my friends on the right, I don’t care what the dissents were, they don’t matter. Nor am I going to pretend that we are going to be able to repeal it, we need 60 votes in the senate to do so and that just isn’t going to happen for a while, so let me tell you what IS going to happen.

1. Mitt Romney just won in 2012.

The Obama brand was in trouble already but there was some hesitation of those in the base to embrace him. There is absolutely nothing that will energize that base more than this issue. This is not going to be close.

2. Every election is now about Obamacare

The president has been giving individual organization wavers. Mitt Romney has already said he will give the entire country a waiver to Obamacare. This means that in 2016 the democrat candidate will have to revoke that waiver in order to implement it.

So every four years the question will be before the American People: “Do you want Obamacare implemented or not?”, until it is implemented or repealed.

Democrats this is the political ground you wanted, I hope you enjoy it.

Update: added sentence concerning: “Do you want Obamacare implemented or not?”

Update 2: If Obamacare is a tax then every democrat who runs promising to remove a Obamacare waiver is promising to increase taxes. It’s all up to us as Glenn Reynolds put it:

The Supreme Court has refused to save us from ourselves. The remedy now will have to be political.

Update 3: Remember when we were told that this wasn’t a tax?

Representative Louie Gohmert has a succinct summary of the Court’s decision today. The Supreme Court told us today “of course they are liars. You should have known they were liars.

Update 4: if you won’t believe me will you believe Ann Althouse?

I have said repeatedly that Obama would be worse off if Obamacare were upheld, but what I’m really seeing is how bad it is for him with the mandate declared a tax.

Remember the Democrats got the statute passed by insisting it was not a tax. Now, we learn it is only constitutional because it is a tax. That’s got to hurt politically.

Update 5: If this is true then it is a national disgrace

Scalia’s dissent, at least on first quick perusal, reads like it was originally written as a majority opinion (in particular, he consistently refers to Justice Ginsburg’s opinion as “The Dissent”). Back in May, there were rumors floating around relevant legal circles that a key vote was taking place, and that Roberts was feeling tremendous pressure from unidentified circles to vote to uphold the mandate. Did Roberts originally vote to invalidate the mandate on commerce clause grounds, and to invalidate the Medicaid expansion, and then decide later to accept the tax argument and essentially rewrite the Medicaid expansion (which, as I noted, citing Jonathan Cohn, was the sleeper issue in this case) to preserve it? If so, was he responding to the heat from President Obama and others, preemptively threatening to delegitimize the Court if it invalidated the ACA?

Update 6: Interesting point at Redstate via newsalert and Insty

With John Roberts’ opinion, the repeal fight takes place on GOP turf, not Democrat turf. The all or nothing repeal has always been better ground for the GOP and now John Roberts has forced everyone onto that ground. Oh, and as I mentioned earlier, because John Roberts concluded it was a tax, the Democrats cannot filibuster its repeal because of the same reconciliation procedure the Democrats used to pass it.

If that is correct it changes the equation

Update 7: The suckers are falling for it:

Immediately after the Supreme Court decision, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) sent out a petition that said, “Stand Up for Obamacare!”

“Sign here right now and tell President Obama that you have his back and show your support for Obamacare,” the petition urged.

Now that the DSCC has officially taken ownership of the “Obamacare” label, it will be interesting to see how that impacts Democrats, such as Missouri’s Claire McCaskill and Montana’s Jon Tester, who are in extremely tough Senate reelection battles in their respective states.

Please PLEASE democrats embrace Obamacare before this election.

Update 8: NRO gets it

First, those who dislike the mandate — which includes a majority of U.S. voters — will now have no recourse but to vote for Mitt Romney to repeal it. Second, the only way the administration prevailed was to have Obama’s main legislative accomplishment redefined as one of the largest middle-class tax increases in the history of the country.

Does that really sound like a good political outcome to you?

Sounds like a good political outcome to me.

Update 9: Hey remember the Catholic Church’s protests on religious liberty, lets not forget that thanks to today’s ruling they will continue through election day.

Update 10: The Anchoress:

Well, as Glenn points out a tax repeal can’t be filibustered. Interesting times ahead. Is it possible that Roberts, concerned by threats from the left that they would de-legitimize the court if it struck down Obamacare, reasoned as he did to both give the GOP a workable means of repealing the thing through legislation while also utterly defanging those threats? After all, if you look at the people screaming about the court yesterday, they’re all purring like kittens on twitter, and calling SCOTUS “humble” and “judicious.” There’s no more talk of “partisan, activist judges” today.

Are the Dems and the press going to wake up in the middle of the night, think about that and cringe?

That’s up to the voters.

Update 11: Roxeanne De Luca: John Roberts, I love you, you blue-eyed, diabolical hottie
The DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in progress, our goal is $3000 and any help is appreciated. For details click here for the progress check the thermometer to the right and to kick in hit DaTipJar”. If you want someone to fight against this stuff, I’m right here.

As everyone continues to wonder what is going on with the Obamacare ruling it’s important to remember how we got here:

When Obamacare was first proposed the Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and an overwhelming majority in the House.

Despite this to pass this bill the president had to pull teeth, and literally give a whole state an exemption from the bill in order to get it through the senate.

The Backlash was so strong that it resulted in a Republican winning a Senate Seat in Massachusetts for the first time since 1972.

Once Scott Brown was elected as there was no chance of getting a bill through a conference committee so the existing senate bill was sent directly to the house for a vote.

Even with that overwhelming majority the house barely passed the bill two months later with 34 democrats opposing it.

The end result in 2010 was the Big Red Wave that resulted not only in Republican control of the house (and six seats won in the senate) but over 700+ GOP gains all over the country.

This is what Obamacare has done to the democrat party.

I have no idea what is going to happen later today, but if I’m the democrat party I hope and PRAY that this law goes away. If this law is upheld or if only the mandate is struck down and the rest of the law survives then every Democrat senator running for election becomes the 60th vote that passed Obamacare and it becomes an issue in every single competitive house race.

Let’s not forget what Senator Pat Toomey

Rep Allen West said at the Americans for Prosperity rally during the Supreme Court deliberations.

“I don’t think they have the courage to come out”

And let’s go one step further if Obamacare is upheld and a President Romney gives the entire nation a waiver (which he has promised to do) then every single election from now on becomes a referendum on Obamacare until it is replaced or repealed

This is what the future for every Democrat candidate for the house and senate from now on if this law is upheld.

Good luck.

Update: Well at least one person doesn’t wonder:

What possible difference could all this second-guessing make? The court will rule whatever the court rules, without regard for what a bunch of bloggers say about it.

He also quotes Ace who said:

Dudes, the opinion was at the printer days ago. The conference vote was like two months ago. The opinions were finished, edited, and proofed like three weeks ago.

This ruling is like seeing an exploding star in space, we become aware of it now, but the star actually blew up centuries ago.

Update: Mandate is a tax and thus Constitutional OK Democrats you wanted this, you own it.

Update 2: Remind me again why we try to nominate conservative judges?

Anyone who has been following what has been going on in Egypt has seen what a mob can do as reporter Natasha Smith found out:

My friend did everything he could to hold onto me. But hundreds of men were dragging me away, kicking and screaming. I was pushed onto a small platform as the crowd surged, where I was hunched over, determined to protect my camera. But it was no use. My camera was snatched from my grasp. My rucksack was torn from my back – it was so crowded that I didn’t even feel it. The mob stumbled off the platform – I twisted my ankle.

Men began to rip off my clothes. I was stripped naked. Their insatiable appetite to hurt me heightened. These men, hundreds of them, had turned from humans to animals.

Hundreds of men pulled my limbs apart and threw me around. They were scratching and clenching my breasts and forcing their fingers inside me in every possible way. So many men. All I could see was leering faces, more and more faces sneering and jeering as I was tossed around like fresh meat among starving lions.

Well that was in Egypt and it was a single woman, it’s not like you are going to see a Muslim mob assaulting a woman in America like that and it’s even less likely that it would happen to a group of men, and even if a mob wanted to stone a group of men in America it not like the police would just stand by and refuse to protect them.

…of course I could be wrong about that.

And BTW I thought it was an ARAB festival, aren’t we told that there are plenty of Arab Christians?

To those who insist Islam is a religion of peace, and to those who oppose laws restricting Sharia: This is the future , if it isn’t stopped RIGHT NOW the consequences in a few years are going to be horrible.

BTW reverse the religions of the people in that video, would there have been any other story on the news yesterday?

One of the things that differentiates this week’s Swatting of Aaron Walker(Worthing) is that it has come after Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga) sent this letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to investigate if any Federals laws were violated in these Swatting Incidents. This letter was signed by over eighty members of Congress.

Now that we have had a new incident this week this gives an excuse to seek comment from members who have not signed this letter to see if they will and from all members of congress for comment on this issue.

I have received the following comment from Congresswoman Renne Ellmers of North Carolina:

“Any intimidation or threats to Americans exercising their rights to free speech is disgraceful and should be investigated fully by our justice system.”

“I applaud Senator Chambliss’ letter on this calling for an investigation by the Justice Department.”

Meanwhile clues continue to be uncovered by Patterico, Aaron Worthing and of course Stacy McCain and Aaron will be on the Lars Larson show tonight at 8 p.m. EST.

If Brett Kimberlin doesn’t like people talking about him, then might I suggest to any friend or cult follower of him that Swattings which produce appearances on national radio shows and comments from sitting members of congress is a bad idea

But that’s just me.

Any guy who has been turned down for a date knows the social convention of coming up with some kind of excuse for not going out (instead of the much kinder “I’m just not interested”).

Claire McCaskill is the latest Democrat to decide that she will be waxing her legs that week.

She was among the first senators to endorse him over presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton in 2008, doing so just five days after Hillary’s big win in New Hampshire. That was a major vote of confidence in him coming from a key swing-state senator and prominent woman pol; Team Clinton “aggressively sought” her endorsement at the time but McCaskill stuck with Hopenchange. As recently as last October, notes National Journal, she was defiant in standing by her buddy O:

If she thought appearing with Obama would win her votes she would be there. If you don’t believe me will you believe the man in charge of electing democrats?

The man responsible for getting Democrats elected to the Congress this fall has a message for his party’s candidates: Stay away from the Democratic National Convention in September.

Listen, you can show me whatever poll you want, you can have any talking head you want pushing whatever message you want in the media but ACTION speak louder than words, and the Actions of the party says one thing to democrats.

Run away from your party!

Run away from this president!

So the GOP reaction should be this:

Ride Right Through them, they’re demoralized as Hell!

If we don’t take advantage of this, it’s our own fault

Ok guys time to kick in. (Sort of)

The Choose Life plates which help fund pregnancy services in clinics that don’t include killing children (and thus are unworthy of Federal Funds or Susan G. Komen’s money) in Massachusetts.

Unfortunately currently the Choose Life plates are short of the number required by law at this point. If they do not make that number by then end of June (Friday) the monies raised are forfeited.

Fortunately an anonymous donor has decided to kick in so if you are a Catholic in the Diocese of Worcester you can get your plates FREE. Pay attention

Step 1: Go to the registry of motor vehicles either online or in person and get your choose life plates

Step 2: Contact Patrice Martin at 508-842-5436 Give her your plate number, address and confirmation that you actually have the plate

Step 3:
Receive a check for the cost of the plates for two years.

After the two years the additional cost for the plate $20 per year is deductible on your federal taxes.

If you want to do something to actually save babies, this is it.

Like many bloggers I have an e-mail list and once or twice a week I send out a series of links to readers and a more frequent e-mail to fellow bloggers in obedience to rule 1

Today’s e-mail reads like a pretty good post on its own but before I share it with you, the stupidity list has grown:

A convicted perjurer and bomber, obsessed with his enemies, sees evidence of a threat by one of those long-time enemies. The threat is made on a blog post about the bomber, 9 days after the post is published. The bomber sees that threat 1-8 minutes after the threat is made. This occurs around midnight.

The threat is deleted, minutes later. But the perjurer already has the threat on his Internet browser.

Despite the evident importance of the threat, however, he waits at least 32 minutes to capture the screenshot.

Then the perjurer and bomber never refreshes the thread again in the next 19 days.

The perjurer and bomber says he’s not the guy who left the threat. And he doesn’t know who did. He just happened to see it, coincidentally, during that 8-minute window, 9 days after the post was published. And that was the last time he ever hit “refresh” on the post about himself.

Does this scenario make any sense at all?

And lets not just make that mistake, lets submit evident to a court that can be disproved by a blogger who knows enough to save the IP addresses of the comments.

Meanwhile Facebook on the heels of its disappointing IPO has followed up with their own stupid mistake:

Facebook just removed everyone’s email address from their profile and replaced it with an email address without asking you.

It’s easily fixed but when you have PR issues you don’t upset your customer base:

A Facebook spokesperson has responded to everyone’s questions on the subject, but they don’t have much to say—except that yes, they have given everyone a Facebook email address and rolled out a “new setting that gives people the choice to decide which addresses they want to show on their timelines.” They did not explain why (or even acknowledge) that all of these addresses were made default on people’s profiles.

Yeah nothing says, “have faith in us” then pushing your customers somewhere they don’t want to do.

If you interested in the other stupidity that you might have missed the e-mail I sent this morning is below the jump: Continue reading “Let’s review the stupidity outbreak of the week”

…Morning Joe not withstanding let’s remember even before Obama decided to hit the Red Sox in Massachustts he wasn’t as popular around here as you think after all I seem to recall he showed up around the weekend before the special election that Brown won, how did that work out for you?

You know when I went to bed I thought the Swatting of Aaron Worthing was the stupidest move I’d ever seen, Obama hitting the Red Sox in Massachusetts THAT’s dumber!

I hope Former Obama Administration official Elizabeth Warren brings Obama here every single day, you might recall the GOP in NH commented they wanted Obama to visit the state every day to remind voters what party the current governor belongs to. I want every single Congressman and State Rep with a D next to their name tied to Obama so tight you’d think they were a skydiving pair.

And you expect me to be afraid of these guys?

Update: thanks to Sissy too

I just walked though my door 10 minutes ago after 4 whole hours of being off the net, had a call from a local candidate looking for info on a bill and when I opened the browser I on Instapundit that Aaron has been swatted not 12 hours after a stay had been granted to the gag order against him.

I hate to admit it but, my first thought wasn’t, “Is Aaron and his family OK?” My first thought in my mind was, “Are these people REALLY THIS STUPID?

You have had a letter sent to the Attorney General concerning SWATTING signed by over 80 member of congress. One week ago today I asked Congressman Charlie Bass and Senator Kelly Ayotte about SWATTING at a public forum. The MSM has finally given it a little coverage so there is attention and now not even 24 hours after Walker has won a preliminary injunction these guys SWATT HIM?

I’m sorry this is unbelievably stupid, so mindbogglingly idiotic that I can’t wrap my head around it. Is there really a follower of Brett Kimberlin & Co that is foolish enough to do this?

There is now a reason for each of the conservatives who signed that letter to be called for comment, there is also a reason for every other member of congress who DIDN’T sign it to be called for comment. I am going to be very busy tomorrow.

I’m no longer advising the SWATTER to turn states evidence, there is apparently no point in wasting good advice on such a dunderhead. Assuming the SWATTER isn’t Kimberlin himself or Rauhauser this person has to be a cult follower of the Nth degree.

I suspect anyone with connections to these idiots are doing what Nixon should have done to the tapes, and if they haven’t done it yet you’d better be sure they are going to because as of this moment the idiots are no longer useful.

Update: At Breitbart Stranahan gives some details:

Walker told Breitbart News that he was home with his wife this evening at approximately 6:00pm when there was a “pretty insistent” knock at his door. Walker answered to find about six police cars in the street and two officers taking positions against the wall with M4 rifles. Since he was aware of the previous swattings of Patrick “Patterico” Frey, Erick Erickson, and Mike Stack, Mr. Walker asked the police if someone had called and claimed he had killed his wife, and police confirmed that that was the case.

In a statement to Breitbart News, Walker said, “This is obviously very upsetting but my wife and I are fine. Whoever did this had the intent to put our lives in danger.”

Update 2: Aaron Walker/Worthing gives his first hand report here and note the reaction of his wife:

My wife came out a bit later and she appeared to be okay and I gave her a hug. She later told me when the officer woke her up, she said, the same phrase, “let me guess, someone called and said my husband shot me…” She says the cop was surprised that she wasn’t surprised.

The Key Line:

This was an act of desperation; this was not the act of people who feel they are winning.

So my reaction is naturally this:

Ride Right Through them, they’re demoralized as Hell!

Kimberlin and the left, same demoralization and I think we should have the same reaction.

The costs of Obama and his programs are becoming more apparent. via five feet of fury) those who oppose him:

Even if you add in all possible “indirect” jobs that could be attributed to this subsidy flurry, it still works out to $1.63 million in subsidies per job created, according to the report.

Just to be clear, this isn’t some taxpayers federation or Republican Party group writing this scathing review. This is the US government itself.

Consider that $1.63 million dollar figure. Imagine a WPA style program such as busy work/cleanup that a city might normally not do because of regular budget. Say 3 ten man crews at $30,000 each plus another $10K in side expenses and taxes. Add a chief to run each crew, say $50K each with taxes and one guy to supervise the supervisors, let’s make him expensive: $100,000 counting benefits and taxes on say an $80K pay.

$1.2 million (work Crew 39 men)
$ .15 million (Three crew chiefs)
$ .1 million The supervisor

That adds up to $1.45 Million dollars, employing 34 people vs $1.63 million for one.

But we can’t have that can we? After all none of those 34 people are in a position to kick back money to the campaign.

Those figures are no surprise to us who oppose him but to those who support him (via Glenn) there is a surprise awaiting them as well

William Jacobson (Cornell) blogs the tax consequences of the Obama campaign’s Dinner With Barack fundraising raffle. Three winners and their guests will receive:

Roundtrip airfare (valued at $1,200)
One night in a hotel ($200)
Dinner with President Obama ($200)

The rules state that “all federal, state and local taxes associated with the receipt or use of any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.” The $1,600 is includible in each winner’s income under § 74 — at the 35% rate, that results in $560 of federal income tax.

Imagine you are a retired black person who was so proud to see the first black president elected and decides to give that $3 from her fixed income to get him re-elected, Just imagine her face after winning that dinner with Obama her getting that $560 tax bill.

That image is the Obama administration in a nutshell.

In a brief telephone interview, Walker said that Kimberlin filed a counter-motion that did not address the First Amendment legal issues at stake, but rather “made a bunch of new accusations” against Walker.

There is no word on how the judge approached that counter motion, but if the standard Kimberlin tactics are no longer effective, then Brett Kimberlin instantly becomes of no use to those who are funding him.

and THAT would be the big news of the day.

Update: Just got off the phone with Dan Backer from DB Capitol Strategies and RightSolutions. He commented that as the Maryland court has granted temporary relief that temporary request on the federal level will be dropped but the case will continue in order.

However “While we are happy” with Today’s ruling since that temporary relief doesn’t preclude Kimberlin from filing new such requests or using these tactics in other states. The federal case shall go on to protect bloggers from attempt to suppress their free speech rights.

…proves that unlike our friends of the left he understands that Communism is not a system to emulate

One more thing about Grayson. He’s one of my favorite leftists in the sense that he doesn’t pretend to be what he isn’t. You get the full unabashed left that the rest of the crowd hides.

Experience keeps a dear school, but Fools will learn in no other.

Ben Franklin 1743

I am the state, your majesty. Let us say it privately so that we never need to discuss it in public. I am France, Louis. I am the state.

Cardinal Richelieu The Three Musketeers 1948

A lot of people are rightly wringing their hands over the results in Egypt as the Muslim Brotherhood has won the presidential election.

An Islamist backed by the Muslim Brotherhood declared victory as Egypt’s first democratically elected president even as the country’s military rulers issued a decree that stripped the position of much of its power.

This entire situation brings conflicting thoughts. First of all you have the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamists taking power. Pam Geller reminds us that this was the logical conclusion of all of this from the start and anyone not in denial could have seen this coming a year ago

January 2011 flashback to a Sandmonkey tweet that was retweeted by Mona Eltahawy, another Egyptian protest lover who was subsequently sexually attacked at one of these “freedom” protests. Of course, I disagreed with Sandmonkey and had my public falling out with him over my insistence that the Muslim Brotherhood was very much a major player in the overthrow of Mubarak and whatever freedom Egyptians had enjoyed under his government.

And Cogressman Allen West said the same last year:

and has called for our cutting of aid to Egypt today

Let’s get to Brass Tacks:

It is a basic truism that all people deserve self-determination, the problem with the middle east in general and Egypt in particular is the majority of the people wanted is the Muslim Brotherhood, what the people want is Sharia. And what the Muslim brotherhood wants is war with Israel and its destruction.

Now the Egyptian Military has stepped in, playing the role of Richelieu retaining many power but most significantly stripping the president of his war making power.

Egypt’s new president will have the power to declare war, but only “after the approval of the SCAF.

Why have they done this? Because the reality of Egypt is the military NOT Mubarak has been the true power for decades and remains the power today. The situation hasn’t changed and as I’ve said before:

The Military has become rich and fat with peace and US aid and has done it without getting slaughtered in wars with Israel. The Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafist’s in theory would love actual war with Israel and believe in it. They have been fed the propaganda for thirty years of victories that never happened, the military however knows differently but the reality is the military knows it is a war they will lose, badly.

And that doesn’t even consider how vulnerable a defeated Egypt will be to a Sudan or Libya that decides to make territorial claims.

That is the great contradiction. If Egypt is given proper democracy with the military subordinate to the will of the public you have a war that is going to destroy Egypt, yet the only way to stop such a war is for the Military to hold true power.

Yet the reality is that as long as the people are shielded from the consequences from their decisions they will continue to make bad ones.

The bottom line is THERE IS NO GOOD SOLUTION TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN EGYPT, like Syira we only have a series of bad choices to choose from. The best we can do is to make sure that if the Egyptian people choose Sharia and War and oppression of minorities, we express our displeasure using the primary tool at our disposal, our aid and our expressions of displeasure.

We have to play it cool and smart, I wish we had an administration up to the task.

Yesterday on Conservatively Speaking Guy Benson came down to visit:

After taking questions from hosts Mike Wade

and John Weston

He stood for an interview with me

And then left for this event at the DCU center

While there I interviewed Matt O’Brien of the Worcester Tea Party. For reasons we shall not explain the interview was conducted while kneeling on the floor.

He was part of a good-sized crowd getting instructions on how to become the next DaTechGuy etc

Erick Telford talked about the event

This process is being repeated nationwide.

MSM if you are not afraid, you ought to be.

One of the things that I’ve been suggesting the “Swatter” needs to turn states evidence NOW because the higher ups in Kimberlin & Co will drop him like a wet blanket when the heat gets turned up. Well guess what, somebody is turning on the stoves:

Item: Follow the Connections:

One of the things that people have been wondering have been why Democrats have been so willing to back people like Kimberlin. It doesn’t seem to make sense, well as Stacy McCain continues to peel the onion looks what turns up:

In attempting to discover the identity of “Randy Hahn,” the #StopRush boycott leader Shoq sought the services of Democrat consultant Neal Rauhauser, the e-mails obtained by The Trenches show. Rauhauser provided the group with extensive documentation about a Houston man named Jason, whose surname was redacted in the version posted by Bayne. Rauhauser then mused about exposing the man to harassment by sending his personal information to online groups.

“I have been sorely tempted to point him out to various actors — a guy like this, he could really produce some high quality entertainment for 4chan, Something Awful, Encyclopedia Dramatica, etc.,” Rauhauser wrote in his e-mail reply to Shoq.

Note we are talking an MSNBC host, and the Stop Rush movement (which Media Matters has been highly involved with this). Stacy continues to find connections higher and higher up the food chain and as things go on, the question becomes, how high can you go?

Item: Habit forming.

In a previous article Stacy McCain quoted a 2000 word scrubbed piece by Neal Rauhauser. That piece in addition to being all about hiding themselves from the law had some rather solid insights on how one identifies a person hiding behind an online identity

You have habits that include:
The time(s) of day you are active
The language you speak
The situational knowledge you have when interacting with a certain group
The software you prefer to use

I thought of this when I saw this post at Patterico:

The Gaped Crusader published a picture of a naked man and said it was me; wrote posts about my wife; published my home address; and generally made it explicitly clear that Kimberlin and Rauhauser were out to intimidate and harass folks like SWATting victim Mike Stack, me (another SWAtting victim), and Kimberlin critics Aaron Walker, Seth Allen, and Mandy Nagy.

The Gaped Crusader is a critical link between the harassment SWATting victims and an associate of Kimberlin’s.

And the Gaped Crusader is tied to Neal Rauhauser through far more than the indentation quirk above. He is also tied through subject matter obsession; quirks of language; admissions regardings recent trips . . . and an IP address.

These habits along with some odder ones are making it easier and easier to actually identify what these people have been doing and that becomes important when you consider this:

Item: The Bloggers Counterattack!

The Kimberlin guys have (among other tactics) been using lawfare to go after bloggers well turnabout is fair play:

Our first salvo in that effort has been to file a federal lawsuit today against Brett Kimberlin, seeking, in part, an injunction to prevent the state from ever again arresting Mr. Aaron Walker, an American citizen, for exercising his right to free speech, and to release him from any prior censorship restrictions imposed by unlawful judgements.

This is only the first step in what we call the “Bloggers Defense Team.” We are firmly committed to exposing and combating the efforts of Brett Kimberlin, otherwise known as the Speedway Bomber, and his well-funded allies on the left (like George Soros and Barabara Streisand) who will use any means of harassment to silence political opposition.

and the group that is doing it DB Capitol Strategies and RightSolutions are doing it well

-We plan on spending less than twenty percent of contributions on administration costs. The remainder will be spent on legal fees, lawyers, researchers, and investigators.
-In the coming days, we will create a website dedicated specifically to the effort to provide important news and information, copies of filings, and more.
-Provide monthly statements on expenditures and contributions on that website.
-Form a publicly disclosed “advisory panel” of bloggers, and disclose the methods and reasonings for that panel and those that have been included (we will also welcome suggestions).

This effort has gotten a lot of attention on the net. Combine with the efforts of the NBC on Walkers behalf and the story becoming known to Senators and Congressmen this is going to end up bad news for the left, particularly during an election year when these guys are going to be throwing anything that might weigh the down off their deflating Obama balloon.

This is not going to end well legally for Kimberlin & Co.

Update: Stacy includes two updates that are very significant, the first being a denial from attorney Imani Gandy that tells an interesting story:

How do we know that the story was legit? The proof is in the statement issued this week to The Trenches by attorney Imani Gandy.

Gandy was eager to disavow having been closely involved with the “Stop Rush” leadership, and similarly eager to deny having anything to do with the recorded phone call. Why this eagerness? Because if Shoq was in Florida when he recorded that call, the recording would be illegal under Florida law and, as Gandy is a lawyer, it would be a clear-cut ethics violation for her to be complicit in such a crime.

Yet in the process of making those denials, Gandy ended up confirming the authenticity of both the recording and the e-mails published by The Trenches — and this is important why?

Because (a) it confirms that my reporting is accurate, (b) this has the collateral effect of confirming Rauhauser’s involvement with the “Stop Rush” boycotters

That in itself is huge as it suggests the “distancing” has already begun in his second post he linked to a piece I first saw via the Lonely Conservative at Screed of Momus titled: A Conversation with Nancy. Nancy is the ex wife of Neal Rauhauser which includes this significant tidbit:

And when Neal and Nancy divorced, Neal’s antics were sufficiently disturbing enough to result in a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation. What the psychiatrist found was a man who was deeply disturbed, possessed of the worst narcissism he’d ever seen. Neal had reactive attachment disorder. He was sociopathic, and his behavior resulted in Neal facing various difficulties socially and professionally. Today, from what we’ve seen of Neal and his behavior online, the pathologies fit. The grandiosity, the unlimited ambition, the delusional sense of self-importance, and the inability to tolerate or endure any personal criticism as an individual, or any personal criticism directed at those whom Neal considers to be allies, all fit with Neal’s current and past idiopathic behavior. Only it really isn’t idiopathic, because Neal has acted like this for some time.

Hmmm this would seem to fit with what Stacy McCain has been saying right along who hypothetically asks:

Suppose there was a certain person (we’ll call him “UnSub”) who knew himself to be implicated in serious crimes. Suppose that UnSub displayed an obsessive interest in secrecy and deception. Furthermore, suppose that UnSub believed himself to be under investigation.

How would such a person behave? Is it possible — and I’m just throwing this out there, as a hypothetical possibility — that UnSub would attempt to deflect attention from himself by making accusations of wrongdoing against others? Would UnSub try to destroy or conceal potential evidence? Could we, perhaps, expect UnSub to taunt his victims or send veiled threats to potential witnesses against him?

Just kind of thinking out loud here, you understand. Purely a matter of abstract speculation, perhaps of interest to the BSU analysts at Quantico only as an exercise in psychological theory.

Maybe the BSU analysts could factor in some other variables. Say, for instance, if UnSub liked to brag about his connection to law enforcement officials, or exhibited the kind of sadistic personality that would brag about using martial arts to inflict pain on a woman.

Do you think FBI criminal profiling specialists would be interested to learn that UnSub had previously engaged in behavior “disturbing enough to result in a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation“?

The web is starting to close, to those associated I say again: States evidence NOW!

Regular readers of this blog know that I make my living off the radio show and the blog. I’m not one t0 rattle the tip jar daily but the bills and expenses of this business continue to exist and have been daunting.

When the commission sales team that was supposed to come on board fizzled things became complicated combined that with expenses that have left me without a vehicle I’ve had to scramble to keep up the Quality & volume of the blog and the Under the Fedora while having time to solicit sales.

This year the hit numbers have been good and I’d like to think the coverage has been as well.

But none of this is possible without the money to make sure the bills are paid.

If what I’ve done is of value to the conservative movement and advancing our cause I’d like to ask you to kick in.

My goal of this drive is $3000 this will allow me a month’s grace with the basic show/coverage expenses that I have for a month in case there is any issue that comes up. UPDATE: GOAL #1 MADE 8/1/12

If I can raise $7500 I can have that month’s grace AND get a half decent used car that will allow me to cover stories without depriving my spouse of her vehicle.

If I can get the number to $10,000 Then I can have the month’s grace, the used car and have some reserves for when the winter heating season comes along.

And if I can somehow get it to $20,000 then I can do all that and with my wife’s pay AND support my family for the rest of the year.

I’m not so sanguine or unrealistic that I expect to make that final number easily, but if this site, and my show are to get to the next level I have to increase revenue without increasing the number of hours in the day.

For a larger political Pac that is a drop in the bucket but until the day comes when such a buy comes I’m afraid I’m simply going to have to shake the tip jar:

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated and if the monies permit I’ll see if I can do something along the lines of Stacy’s mugs.

This next section is for those who might have a SuperPac or a Cause and have four figures or more to spare.

For $1200 I can make the charity of your choice the “Show sponsor” for the 2nd hour for a month (4 min of ads per show) , this will include a link to said charity on the site for the same period of time with the caveat that said charity is not diametrically opposed to my Catholic faith (for example a protestant ministry is fine, a pro-abortion non-profit is not)

For $3600 I can do the same for 3 months and have you on the show for a segment to push said charity or cause or your group’s position

For $6000 I can do the same for 6 months and include three visits with at least one of the with you as co-host

And $10,000 will get you a full year at least two co-hosting opportunities

Now if your conservative group wants to pick up something like that even as much as $20,000 worth of show & blog advertising I can do it (My full price sheet is here) That will do more for the conservative cause than investing in Charlie Crist or Dede Scozzafava ever did.

Saturday we have a pair of gets dealing with two big issues

When via (Weasel Zippers) I saw this at the Obama campaign site:

All I could think of was this quote:

“If any one comes to me without hating his father 7 and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.  Obama Luke 14:26

And this from Abe Lincoln who in addition to being tough on vampires, had a different view of the Presidencyemphasis mine

One black man, overcome by emotion, dropped to his knees, prompting the president to conduct a curbside colloquium on the meaning of emancipation. “Don’t kneel to me,” said the president. “That is not right. You must kneel to God only, and thank Him for the liberty you will enjoy hereafter.”

Talk about liberalism is a religion! Who wants to make book how soon this goes down? I don’t think it lasts past Monday.

I would hear my friends on the left say how evil and horrible and racist and imperialistic and oppressive America is and I’d laugh to my self ‘ah they always say that they love America’ and then on 9/11 we were beaten up and I grabbed them by the caller and jumped up and said: ‘C’mon let’s help her lets help America’ and they say No she deserves it. and at that moment I realized they really DO hate America

Evan Sayett March 2007

Let’s go a little deeper into my thoughts concerning the professional/activist left from my last post.

I’ve been researching some old posts at Stacy McCain’s previous site for a project and one of the milestones was Smitty’s first post as a co-blogger on March 3rd 2009. This post linked to a speech by conservative comedian Evan Sayett called How Modern Liberals Think at Heritage that five years later is still not only still worth listening to but is eerie in its relevance today.

I thought of this after an exchange on twitter last night. The has been a sideline to the Brett Kimberlin story a clash involving Ali Akbar & Ladd Ehlinger where the latest punch was thrown last night. It’s my opinion the entire business simply empowers those trying to change the subject and last night a tweeter of the left using the Pseudonym P. J. Nicolatore with the twitter account .@nicoleGennette (no it’s not the actual lady Anthony Weiner was tweeting his junk to)

I was surprised to be included in this tweet as to my knowledge I’d never tweeted this fellow but wanting to keep things focused where they should be I countered:

And then tweeted out Stacy McCain’s latest noting that it received yet another Instalanche meaning tens of thousands of people will see it. This is the tweet that came back:

Now lets me remind you again. Robert Stacy McCain is an American Journalist who for their own safety found it necessary to remove his family and himself from their home and state for exercising his first Amendment rights. To me that’s a blasphmey against the principles of America and it’s constitution, to the modern left, it’s a laugh line.

There was a time when the media/left would have been outraged over trying to silence a reporter for reporting a story.

There was a time when the media/left would have been outraged over firing of a Whistle Blower by the government.

There was a time when the media/left would be outraged over the death of a border agent due to a government program.

…or declaring Nobel Peace prize winner Lech Walesa too political for a medal of freedom ceremony.

…or a Cartoonist forced to go into hiding over a fatwa

…or attempts to silence bloggers that might get them killed

…or attempts to intimidate a black political activist into silence (background issues not withstanding)

…or protests AGAINST groups fighting child trafficking

…or a call for the destruction of places of worship of a religious minority

…or guidelines for women’s behavior

These positions are not accidents, let me remind you of the words of leftist Stanley Fish:

I know the objections to what I have said here. It amounts to an apology for identity politics. It elevates tribal obligations over the universal obligations we owe to each other as citizens. It licenses differential and discriminatory treatment on the basis of contested points of view. It substitutes for the rule “don’t do it to them if you don’t want it done to you” the rule “be sure to do it to them first and more effectively.” It implies finally that might makes right. I can live with that.

It is not an accident that during the cold war it seemed whatever side the US was on, the left was on the other.  These people are a machine that is only about power.

Now I know plenty of people on the left, like my Arch Enemy friend Chris, my friends Mike and his wife, commenter Foible who this would certainly not apply to and I see some others online such as Dominic Nanni who are young mean well and have the potential to figure things in the end who this would not apply to out eventually. I suspect each of them would be properly upset at all the things above. Unfortunately the only people who can say that about left’s leading lights are those not paying attention.

Update: BTW let me point out that while the left is attempting to intimidate and silence Robert Stacy McCain, I never said they’ve succeeded.

If Shoq’s claims are accurate, the latest reports may suggest multiple connections between the Limbaugh boycott, MSNBC, the Obama campaign, Democrat operatives like Rauhauser, and tax-exempt groups like Media Matters and Kimberlin’s Velvet Revolution.

In 2012 you don’t need a permanent home, just an internet connection to write.

Update 2: And more of the left as they are:

Last Friday, an attaché of important gay people from Philadelphia made a trip to Washington D.C. as invited guests of President Barack Obama for the White House’s first-ever gay pride reception. There, they danced to the sounds of a Marine Corps band; they dined on crab cakes and canapés; they hand-delivered letters from concerned citizens like this 18-year old who has had four people close to him gunned down, and noted rhyming raconteur CA Conrad; and some of them took advantage of photo opportunities to give the late President Ronald Reagan the middle finger.

Remember these are the invited guests of the president

I’m sorry I can’t imagine a group of conservative Catholics doing that to Clinton or even Obama

Throw out that last, take this. This is the most titanic battle of modern times. A David without even a slingshot rises to do battle against the mighty Goliath, the Taylor machine, allegedly crooked inside and out.

Thomas Mitchell Mr. Smith goes to Washington 1939

Yesterday at the daily press briefing White House spokesman Jay Carney forgot the name of Border Agent Brian Terry who was slain in the process of the fast and furious scandal.

I’d like to think that this was a slip of the lip, I really would, just like I’d like to pretend that the Media ignoring the story for a year was just an oversight but it’s reaching the point where that just isn’t possible.

Last night on Twitter Dana Loesch brought up fast and Furious she received the following reply

Nobody cares about? Let’s remind everyone not only was the whistle-blower at the ATF that exposed this scandal fired, not only Brian Terry slain:

But for the family of Brian Terry, it’s the story of their son — murdered with guns given to killers by his own government. Yet many mainstream news consumers never heard of it until this week. According to Media Research Center, the first time NBC mentioned the story was last week.

But the same media that insists this is all about politics, those same caring people of the left forget that hundreds of Mexican citizens were also killed.

Now if you subscribe to the media template that the left is the crew that cares about the average person, (particularly people of color) this might come as quite a shock. You might ask How can this be that the caring left isn’t concerned about hundreds of Mexicans slain by an US program?

If you, however, have been paying attention, if you are involved in the daily tug of war in this country I’m afraid that like me you will rapidly reach the conclusion that the professional left, the left that makes it case on our airwaves, on the net is desperately trying to retain power in Washington doesn’t actually care about the basic fundamental right of Americans but is just another political machine, and like the fictional Taylor Machine, allegedly crooked inside and out…

Update: Fox reports Nancy Pelsoi says fast and furious is all about voter suppression and big money. Brian Terry remains unavailable for comment.

In my last post I noted the MSM is a year behind bloggers on Fast and Furious. On the Brett Kimberlin, Neal Rauhauser et/al story it looks like they will have to play catch-up as well.  Only instead of being behind the young beautiful and talented Katie Pavlich they are lagging behind the less beautiful but completely unrelenting Robert Stacy McCain

Brett Kimberlin became a “client” of Neal Rauhauser in 2011. Rauhauser has described his specialty as “solving problems in the social media work space for political campaigns and causes,” and Kimberlin had distinct “problems in the social media work space,” namely how to stop bloggers from writing about Kimberlin’s criminal past.

One should not that this “problem in the social media work space” didn’t and apparently still doesn’t apply to the MSM but unfortunately for Brett, Neal et/al Stacy McCain seems to be doing the work of 20 journalists all by his lonesome. He excerpts a 2000 word document from Rauhauser (that he scrubbed from the net) that to a techie would be worth reading for the excellent technical insights concerning online identities alone but for the purposes of this story these two bits jump out at me all emphasis mine:

The whole idea is to encapsulate an online persona in a safe environment. The VM is the container for the personality, but what if your laptop is stolen, or if you’re arrested and questioned? We run http://truecrypt.comsoftware to make encrypted file containers. Our first test involved creating a 4 gig space, binding it to drive W:, and installing Windows in a VM there. The persona in the VM is now perfectly safe if the machine is lost or stolen, so long as a strong password is used. . . .

and this

This cannot be stressed strongly enough: we have only protected against the following threats. Disclosure due to loss/theft/seizure of host computer

Hmmmm maybe it’s the Sicilian in me but am I to understand Mr. Rauhauser is giving advice to people creating false identities on how to stymie law enforcement?

Lets put this all into context:

1. You have Conservative writers and bloggers who have been Swatted because they have written about Brett Kimberlin et/al.

2. You have a Journalist who has been forced to relocate his family for their own safety for exercising his first amendment rights concerning this story.

3. You have one of the principals of this story giving advice in writing on how to keep ones activities and identities concealed from law enforcement, and then after writing these 2,000 words scrubbing them from the net.

4. You even have a possible connection to the Stop Rush Limbaugh Movement where its head Mr. Eddlestein worries:

“that someone had discovered “one of my plant names that I use on the web to confuse the Right.”

Exactly the type of thing that Mr. Rauhauser was giving advice on.

Any one of these items individually would be we call a STORY. A newsworthy story. and as I said in this week’s under the fedora column at the Conservatory, the Minority Report and Conservatively Speaking

There are now, thousands to tens of thousands of people who had no idea who Brett Kimberlin & Neal Rauhauser et/al were 60 days ago. They do today due to the now nomadic Robert Stacy McCain.

It’s said that one needs to hit rock bottom before recovery can begin, the MSM still has a way to go. The question remains if they will decide to cover this story before they are forced to by events beyond their control?

If they do then once again we will have the spectacle of their remaining viewership looking on in amazement as people go to jail for something they never heard of…

… and wondering why?

Update: Stacy Links on his fast and furious story and I’ll repeat the question I asked in the previous post, it was made concerning Fast and Furious but could apply here:

Are we seeing today, what Watergate would have been if the president had been a Democrat beloved by the MSM?

and since to our knowledge there is no White House connection to the Kimberlin & Co story (yet)

Are we seeing today how the Watergate burglars etc would have been treated if they were on the same political side as the MSM?

I think the answer to both is yes, but the fact both questions can be credibly asked is a disgrace in itself.

Back in April at Blogcon I filmed this interview with Kaite Pavlich author of Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and the Shameless Cover-Up

Katie had been writing about this for a while.

Obama took credit for confiscating 64 percent more weapons than ever before. Well, that’s what happens when the federal government sends thousands of guns into Mexico in the first place through Operation Fast and Furious under the Obama Justice Department and ATF, of course it becomes easier to confiscate more guns when you put more into an area to begin with.

that entry was from May 11th 2011.

Meanwhile today the viewers of Morning Joe found themselves learning about the president’s use of Executive privilege to shield Eric Holder which necessitated talking about Fast and Furious.

This entire conversation and the death of an ATF agent must have come as a shock to their viewers who were wondering why the administration is invoking executive privilege.

Ironically, like MSNBC I was late to this story as well, my first post on it was June 28th of 2011 in a post titled “Is it Watergate yet? which starts with the line:

I’m likely the only blogger on the right who hasn’t written on project gunrunner…

The post linked to a story at Fox News (you know that company the media urges all right thinking people to ignore)

‘Project Gunrunner’ Whistleblower Says ATF Sent Him Termination Notice

By Maxim Lott

Published June 27, 2011

Here is the video I didn’t embed at the time.

That weekend I had Barbara Espinosa on my WCRN’s DaTechGuy on DaRAdio to talk about this issue. (BTW she will be on my show this week in the 2nd hour WCRN during my 11 AM hour listen live at

A little over a month later the ATF chief resigned My post on the subject was titled:

ATF chief resigns and nobody knows why

…at least nobody who follows the MSM

If you search for the words “fast and furious” on my blog you will only find 14 posts after this one and remember I was not only late to this, but I didn’t give this story much attention.

If however you do a search for “fast and furious” or “ATF GUNRUNNING SCANDAL” at Instapundit ( a former MSNBC contributor no less) you will find dozens of entries dating back to Feb 13th 2011: NRA weighs in on ATF gunrunning scandal.

Over and over I’ve seen the Morning Joe crowd scoff at “just bloggers” and tweeters who comment, yet even a “blogger and tweeter” like myself who has given this story short shift has been on this story for a year while the Morning Joe viewers are only now getting anything resembling coverage of this story and they dare to paint it as an “election year stunt”.

They could have covered this story, with their vast resources they could have done the work that a 23-year-old blogger Katie Pavlich did, or they could have interviewed her and talked about her book. They deliberately choose not to do so.

After today I don’t want to hear a single person on MSNBC or anywhere else talk about “bloggers in their pajamas” vs “real reporters”, because speaking as a blogger typing cross-legged in his bed, I find the comparison insulting to me.

Exit question: I’m listening right to my show from a year ago as I type this and one section is jumping out at me:

DaTechGuy “…This is serious stuff because Watergate nobody ever, For all that Nixon did with Watergate no one died from Watergate and we already have, we have two deaths directly connected with this…”

Barbara Espinosa: “…but you don’t just have two deaths”

DaTechGuy: “…and that’s not counting the deaths in Mexico.”

Barbara Espinosa: “Well there’s been hundreds of Mexican citizens who have been killed with these guns…”

When I reflect on how the MSM has covered for this administration for a full year I challenge my readers to consider this question:

Are we seeing today, what Watergate would have been if the president had been a Democrat beloved by the MSM?

I say yes!

Update: Let the record show that Barbara Espinosa has been writing about this forever and has written about this today as well

Update 2: Powerline talks to a Justice Department vet who says:

Even with his fawning press, [Presdient Obama] will pay a price for this one. He knows this, meaning that the documents now to be withheld must be dynamite. They have to show either that Holder knew what was going on with Fast and Furious and approved it, or that he directly committed perjury in his Congressional testimony, or both. I just can’t see any other explanation for such a risky move.

Wasn’t the Washington Post just covering big time the 40th anniversary of Watergate? I wonder how much coverage this one will get.

Like I said, we are seeing what Watergate would look like if the MSM were all behind Nixon

Update 3: Missed a link, fixed.

Right now a lot of people are piling on my friend Barbara Espinosa over some ill chosen words concerning the president.

Hey that’s part of free speech, Barbara said what she said and if people want to hit her over it, she’s a big girl, and can take care of herself. (She is also an armed girl anyone making violent threats against her who are thinking for one second of carrying them out is announcing their candidacy for a Darwin award.)

Let me tell you about my friend Barbara Espinosa:

Barbara was one of the people who helped get me to CPAC for the first time.

When I ended up on the Tea Party Express she put me up for the night when I came knocking near 3 a.m.

She was one of the earliest supporters of my radio show.

I have stayed at her house, been on her radio show and she has been on mine (and will be again if she is willing).

I also remember her on blogger row sitting with Vernon Parker sitting next to her next to Black GOP candidate Vernon Parker Jerome Hudson listening to the CPAC keynote and working hard for his election and as Stacy McCain tweets she has strongly supported black GOP candidates.

Anyone who knows Barbara knows she is no racist.

Barbara was, is and will always be my friend, PERIOD! If anyone ANYONE thinks for one moment that is going to change or I am going to denounce her or jump on any kind of anti-Barbara bandwagon they are out of their minds.

Update: Talked to Barbara I was wrong it was Jerome Hudson not Vernon Parker who was there.

Oh and I’m sure to fit Barbara into the racist stereotype they have created in their mind the left will conclude that she like Naomi Schaefer before her, secretly dreamed all her life of having a person of color as a manservant so she came up with the cunning plan to marry the very Spanish Mr Espinosa and remained with him for thirty years till his death.

Simply diabolical.

Update 3: Barbara has sent me this e-mail

“When it comes to talk radio both the left and right can, unfortunately, employ a little too much free speech. It is a medium for inspiration and robust debate, not gratuitous insult. I apologize to anyone that was offended by my comments. It was a poor joke off the cuff that deserves apology not example. I am a proud supporter of numerous African-American republicans that have run for office and will continue to do so.”

I’m sure this apology will be accepted with all the speed that they accepted Rush’s. I expect they will go full tilt on this as it beats talking about Obama’s record or fast and furious.

Sunday and Monday I spent a lot of time and effort that I should have spent chasing down new advertisers on DaTechGuy on DaRadio on a long post concerning some infighting that I had very little interest in but was asked as a favor to check on.

As I look at the comments on that post and on twitter there seems to be some questions concerning the NBC.

It’s fair to say that the NBC and the whole concept of it is fairly new so I don’t expect every duck to be in a row on it,  that being said, I think there is nothing wrong with asking questions. After all we bloggers tend to ask questions of others so we shouldn’t flinch at receiving them.

So let me ask the questions that might seem relevant on the issue:

1. How exactly does one join the NBC?
2. Is there a website for it, what it the address, if not when is it expected to be up?
3. Who is on the board of the NBC and how is it selected?
4. Given that NBC was started by people who are conservative, is the membership limited to conservatives?
5. Is this organization strictly for political bloggers are there plans to expand beyond that?
6. Is this considered a formal organization with existing by-laws etc, if such bylaws do not exist are they in progress, or is it more informal association of bloggers & writers?
7. Is there a budget, how much has the organization raised?
8. As money is being raised to help the victims of Kimberlin & Co how have said funds been used in that regard?

Now the whole National Bloggers club as I’ve already said is brand new, and any person who has ever started a business or organization from scratch knows there is a lot of legwork involved in doing so. So I’m not going to be surprised if some or all of this stuff isn’t set in stone just yet, but the more answers people have the less suspicious they will be, sunlight and all that.

Full Disclosure: You might remember this post I did last week on the Domestic Energy & Job Act. I was informed of, given an invitation to, and included in that conference call through a club/blogbash e-mail.

Cross-posted at Haemet.

10 AM EDT: deadline set by the Congress for production of Fast and Furious documents from Eric Holder.  Failure to produce said documents could result in Holder being cited for contempt.

10:15 AM EDT: Barack Obama exerted “executive privilege” over those documents.

Okay, Constitutional Law Professor, let’s get down and do some real constitutional law.  The separation of powers does enable a President to exert executive privilege over documents when they are going to a branch of government that has no use for them.  (As but one example, George Washington invoked executive privilege over documents relating to a treaty, when subpoenaed by the House, because the Senate, not the House, is the sole legislative body responsible for the ratification of treaties.)

Nevertheless, “I’m the President so what I say, goes” is not a permissible means to block Congressional investigation.  In U.S. v. Nixon, the Supreme Court denied then-President Nixon’s invocation of executive privilege.  It held that absent particularised circumstances (involving national security, military, or diplomatic secrets), executive privilege does not bar the production of documents at a criminal trial.   While such material may not be made public (and should be subject to in camera inspections, where possible), a President cannot simply refuse to hand it over, citing generalised concerns.

So Obama, please let us know exactly how Fast and Furious will implicate national security (except to cause violence at the border).  Please.  Because it seems as if it’s not a diplomatic issue with another nation, not a military issue, and not tending to harm national security in a particularised manner.

It’s a double dose of DaTechGuy this week.

Saturday’s show with Donna Cahill & Jeff Semon is now available, you can listen to it live here.

and I’ve just been notified that last week’s show thought as lost as a Patrick Troughton Dr. Who episode has also been found! This is our big Brett Kimberlin & Co Episode with Ali Akbar and Robert Stacy McCain. That is available here.

You wanted confirmation, Captain? Take a look! There’s your confirmation!

Lt. Kaminsky Tora Tora Tora

On MSNBC I’ve heard the word “blogger” used as a pejorative to dismiss us as factually challenged.  How things change:

MSNBC aired footage today that inaccurately portrayed Mitt Romney’s remarks at a campaign stop in Pennsylvania.

When even Politico is coming down on you, that’s pretty bad,

The MSNBC clip feeds into the narrative, beloved by some on the left, that Romney is a 1950’s throwback. After the clip cut, Mitchell and MSNBC contributor Chris Cillizza broke out into laughter — which is understandable, given that they both had been led to believe that Romney was wowed by a simple machine. In fact, what Romney found so “amazing” was the discord between private sector innovation and public sector bureaucracy.

via Nice Deb Betsy’s Page notes what happened

Well, the joke is on them. It didn’t take the blogger at Sooper Mexican to find the entire video of Mitt Romney talking about the touch-pad ordering system at WaWa’s. And it turns out that he was making a point comparing the innovation of the private sector to come up with a faster and more efficient way to order the condiments on your sandwich with the over-regulation and lack of innovation in the public sector. He contrasts the innovation at WaWa with a doctor who told him he had to fill out a 33-page change-of-address form for getting Medicare payments.

What! you can find the real video on the internet?   I know Andrea Mitchell is a bit older than she looks but she has heard of the net hasn’t she?

It’s as if MSNBC had no idea that anyone else could find the video of the moment shot by some guy with a camera who was waiting to hand his book about hemp to Mitt Romney and then a blogger could figure out how they misleadingly edited the Romney video. They forgot that there are conservative bloggers out there who are capable of finding out their editing chicanery and that the internet can be used to distribute the proof of their dishonest reporting. Soon the real story goes from conservative blogs to Politico and now there are questions that MSNBC will have to answer. Just as NBC News had to fire a producer for editing the George Zimmerman tape of his 911 call, someone will probably have to lose his or her job for this if MSNBC cares at all about even the appearance of journalistic integrity. Perhaps not.

I suggest MSNBC long stopped worrying about journalism and turned to advocacy but just remember every time you hear someone go after “mere” bloggers remind them that this deception was done with a full squad of editors, producers and all the power of the NBC news team behind them.  As Ed Morrissey says:

Wow.  Thank goodness Andrea Mitchell is an honest-to-goodness journalist, instead of just a talk-show host on an occasionally-watched cable channel … or worse yet, just a blogger.  So, we can now assume that NBC News enforces no standards on truth or ethics on its own correspondents, and doesn’t just exempt the MSNBC opinion-show hosts, right?

Yeah their video is a lot slicker than say mine from the Nashua Federated Republican Women’s Conference , but you can trust my video, and if you have a problem with it, you can ask me directly.   How much of this do you think went on in the Bush (I), Reagan, Ford, Nixon et/al years before there was a net to “fact check your ***”?

Yesterday evening just after I finished talking to the IRS  I noted I had missed a call from Ali Akbar and gave him a ring.

Ali expressed concern about Ladd Ehlinger Post that I had retweeted late last night concerning him and Paul Lemmen.

Some background. I’ve known Ali since the Scott Brown race and he has treated me well, the very first press credential I had, came from Ali. I think Ali is a talented young man who has a future and I have a very high opinion of his mother who I met at the last Blogcon. Blogbash at CPAC.

We Sicilians tend to remember that kind of thing so when Ali asked me if I would interview him on this matter, although I frankly thing this entire post is ill advised, I agreed.

Before we began I told Ali about my own relationships with the others involved in this conversation. Paul Lemmen & Ladd Ehlinger.

I have regularly linked to Paul Lemmen (although we’ve never met or spoke) I became aware of him through Zilla. Our exchanges have been unexciting but have really been just about posts.

As for Ladd Ehlinger with the exception of Stacy McCain there is nobody I’m closer to on the net. We talk regularly on issues and what is going down. He has been particularly good to me and mine. Ladd has my unequivocal friendship and trust.

Ladd does not have a high opinion of Ali. I have friends such as Sunshine State Sarah who share Ladd’s view while Stacy McCain on the other end likes Ali a lot.

Anyways Ali & I talked for a while and he made the following points concerning this dispute which is now getting some pixels:

Yesterday I posted a bunch of photos and videos of the Nashua (NH) Federated Republican Women’s Club. The Keynote Speaker was Senator and potential VP nominee Kelly Ayotte.

At the end of her speech she spontaneously offered to take questions from the audience. I asked her one on Swatting

“I don’t agree with any effort to silence conservative bloggers or any bloggers.”

That sounds like a pretty straightforward defense of the 1st Amendment to me.

I also interviewed Congressman Charlie Bass after the event and during the interview asked him about the letter to the AG and asked him if he had seen the letter and if he was open to signing it.

“I have not seen that letter I’m certainly open to signing it. I certainly would condemn any law enforcement action of that nature as Senator Ayotte said when addressing that issue I don’t support that kind of effort to infringe upon individuals 1st Amendment rights”

I submit and suggest that every time this issue is brought before a sitting member of congress it brings it closer to the general public, and when the general public becomes informed on these events, things will start happening fast.

Again my message to the Swatter: STATES EVIDENCE NOW! Every day you wait increases the chances your allies will kick you to the curb while covering themselves.

I’m sure we will shortly see Mr. Kimberlin & Co getting Democrats on record about Swatting. After all it is natural to assume a man with the support of groups like Tides and Kerry’s foundation will have the ear of some in congress and if Mr. Kimberlin claims of being a Swatting victim are to be believed we should expect to see Democrats signing on to object to this kind of thing. Shouldn’t we?

This morning I attended the Nashua Federated Republican Women’s Club Breakfast at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Nashua NH

It is an annual event to honor women who have made a difference to the GOP

Senator Kelly Ayotte, Woman of the year Phyllis Woods and Congressman Charlie Bass

Both Rep Charlie Bass and Kelly Ayotte spoke, Senator Ayotte also took questions from the audience, I shot video of almost the entire event and will include all said video in order after the jump:

This morning as I tip toed around a house full of sleeping teenagers post graduation party I noticed this post up at Fox News:

Conservative bloggers are on heightened alert following a string of so-called “SWAT-ing” incidents and are taking precautionary measures to ensure they don’t fall victim to the potentially dangerous prank as the political blogosphere prepares for a heated election season.

Didn’t think much of it, after all I had contacted my local police May 28th, the day after we did our WCRN morning drive show concerning the SWATTINGS interviewing Stacy McCain and later that week met with them to give them details including the voice recordings of the previous swatting so they would be prepared. So the FOX piece was kinda late and no big deal.

Then I looked at the Memeorandm thread and noticed most of the links were from the left. Intrigued I took a peek at this one from the Impolitic, it started well,.

Goddess forgive me for my cynicism, because if it’s real, it’s dangerous and unacceptable

but rapidly went down hill from there.

It’s ridiculous to claim extremist left wing activists are doing this. If they’re not manufacturing these incidents themselves, then it seems more likely to me it’s some crazy fan of these fauxrage blogging specialists who was tipped over the edge by the their relentless hate mongering.

Now being a charitable person I assume that the author is almost completely ignorant of the story.

Of Aaron Worthing mega post that told of his accounts of his encounters with Brett Kimberlin.

Of Robert Stacy McCain’s plethora of posts on the subject, (his latest here), of the call to his wife’s employer that necessitated his leaving his home and his state. (all linked below btw)

Of Patrick Frey’s Swatting and the fallout from them.

Of Crying Wolf blog’s swatting (that for some reason gets ignored a lot)

Of the recordings of the 911 calls themselves (here is one of them)

Of the legal risks people took writing about the story

The personal toll this story has taken on many:

My family is apparently a justifiable target. And other people have faced worse than I have on this. Mandy’s been attacked for being raped. Literally. These attacks get ugly because The Ugly is actually the whole point. Nothing (and I mean No Thing) is off limits to the cowardly anonymous attack dogs because the whole goal is to create an atmosphere of crazy scattershot gunfire designed to make sane people want to run and hide.

So, Mandy and I and the other people writing about the story get tired sometimes. The entire process is flat out exhausting. Ask Patterico or Aaron Walker or Stacy McCain or Erick Erickson or Ali Akbar or Seth Allen or Mike Stack or Ace of Spades or Michelle Malkin or Brandon Darby or Dana Loesch or anyone else targeted by Team Kimberlin. Those bastards want to wear us down to shut us up.

Let’s not forget Seth Allen the very first target of Kimberlin & Co is a liberal who tried to warn his side this guy was bad news.

and of the coincidence that reported swattings and harassment all took place after the writers choose to write about Kimberlin & Co and the left’s ties to them.

Ironically the only “SWATTING” that there is legitimate doubt is Kimberlin’s tardy claim of same, as the local authorities claimed no such call.

Libby I would invite you to read through Stacy McCain’s posts on the subject and catch up.
For the sake of your convenience here is the link to the lot:

I would also suggest Lee Stranahan’s site just keep scrolling.

Now I don’t expect any better from Tbogg at firedoglake or Hart Williams but you are new to me, so I’ll be happy to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Take a look at the story through those links and if you still think it’s BS, feel free to shout it out loudly and call BS on all involved including me.

But if you check out these post and people, if like me after studying it you like me conclude:

These stories are all newsworthy but none of them in my mind surpass what I am about to type:

At the start of the Memorial day weekend, when we celebrate and remember those who have died to protect our constitutional freedoms as elaborated in the Bill of Rights, an American Journalist and his family are in hiding for their own safety for daring to exercising those rights the men and women we honor died for.

That’s the bottom line.

and are outraged because like the Molly Norris story that the MSM ignored it’s an attack on all of our free speech rights, then I invite you to get involved.

The best bet would be simply to e-mail Stranaham, or McCain and see if they will be interviewed by you.

BTW if I didn’t make it clear, take your time, a week even two, digest all the info and then see what you think.

Poor Brett Kimberlin even more attention via Right Online and the Sarah Palin clip played over an over on my show today, (not to mention another 1307 words from Robert Stacy McCain ed).

Ah but I suspect Kimberlin & Co are smiling not frowning over Sarah Palin’s mention. Why? I’ll explain.

Sarah Palin is the red cape to the left’s bull, the Jerry Mouse to their Tom, the Spy to Their spy and the Wil Wheaton to their Sheldon Cooper.

The invocation of an attack by on Brett Kimberlin by Palin will bring both money to their tip jar and people on the left to defend him. Palin says it the left reacts in the other direction.

And that is the trap.

As Stacy McCain points out the ball keeps moving forward on this story:

Every day, we grab hold of some piece of the Kimberlin saga — some previously unreported fact or overlooked detail, some development on the legal or political front — and we push it as hard as we can, making the story new and fresh every day. One month into this epic battle of informational warfare, there is now a nationwide readership of thousands following this story with fascinated interest, and I am keenly aware of the need to keep moving the ball down the field, like a football team driving toward a touchdown.

This story is going to march forward no matter what comes next. And if I’m right when it finally ends up in before a proper authority there are going to be people in the Kimberlin & co crowd who will be very VERY unhappy.

Palin’s involvement in an invitation for the “mainline left” to get involved. If they are sucked into helping Kimberlin & Co (and I’m sure that crowd will do all they can to play up the “Stop Sarah Palin” angle to be sure they do) then when this comes to a head, they will be involved, in a way that will at best be painful in terms of PR and at worst painful in legality.

Let’s see how stupid these people really are!

“Because you’ve had ninety years and haven’t done it!”

Sen Pat McNamara (Michigan) 1957 in reply to Senator Richard Russell (Ga) who asked why Michigan could handle its affairs concerning Civil rights but wasn’t prepared to let Georgia do the same

There has been a lot of hand-wringing concerning Neal Munro’s indecorous question to the president during his statement on Amnesty.

Sam Donaldson condemned it playing the race card, showing that his memory and judgement are not what they used to be.

William Jacobson pointed out that a simple statement that had no questions to follow doesn’t need a press corps just a video camera and/or a stenographer

And Joseph Fein asked why there we no Woodwards & Bernsteins in Democrat administrations? He answered his own question but forgot, Newsweek DID have Woodwards & Bernsteins in the sense they had the Monica story, but choose to kill it leaving it for Matt Drudge to break.

But the real question is why have we reached the point where it is necessary for bloggers to shout a question during a presidential statement. The answer comes oddly from this Video from MSNBC:

Lean Forward: Chuck Todd from Joe Gabriel on Vimeo.

Here is the text of the video, all emphasis mine

“My job is to bring up issues that Americans care about. It’s my responsibility to ask the tough questions. No matter whose leading the country they need to be held accountable. I have unique access to the president, his advisers, the candidates and members of congress. I’d better use that access for a greater good, use it for people who can’t get through the White House Gates, for people who can’t be heard. The American People deserve answers”

If this video actually meant something other than a cheap advertising line it wouldn’t have been necessary for Neal Munro to do what he did on Friday, but the truth is when it comes to asking the tough questions of this president they have been like Richard Russell and the Southern Caucus defending their prerogatives rather than doing their jobs.

So when they question the Daily Caller and Neal Munro for challenging the president in that setting, or for asking the tough question at an inappropriate time the answer for Munro should be almost identical as Senator Pat McNamara famous answer to Russell on the Senate floor.

“Because you’ve had four years to challenge this president and haven’t done it?”

Update: I’m sure our embarrassed members of the press will meet us half way, once January 2013 rolls around they will again adopt the credos from the video above to ask pointed questions of the Romney administration.
