That was Cherie Royayne who I interviewed yesterday

The Water Cooler feature adds a light touch and with all the serious stuff that we discuss we sometimes forget laughing at life can be good.

I’m thinking of adding her as a once a month closing feature to the show, if you would like to hear more of Cherie let me know if comments.

And if you don’t want to wait a month check out the WCRN morning show Fridays at 8:45

Lt. Kaminsky: You wanted confirmation, Captain? Take a look! There’s your confirmation!

Tora Tora Tora 1970

Egypt has had a rough time since the initial coups that brought Nasser to the throne.

They’ve lost multiple wars, they’ve had authoritarian leaders, the people have been oppressed and the dictators and powerful and mainly filtered the aid wealth to themselves instead of improving the lot of the avg Egyptian.

So you can imagine with his first speech the first democratically elected president of Egypt, newly congratulated by Obama on his win would be focusing on solving these problems with his first speech wouldn’t you?

In his first public speech addressing tens of thousands of mostly Islamist supporters, Egypt’s president-elect Mohammed Morsi has vowed to free the blind sheik jailed in the U.S. for a plot to blow up New York City landmarks.

Morsi, Egypt’s first Islamist and civilian president-elect, promised Friday to work to free Omar Abdel-Rahman, the spiritual leader of men convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Well if you are a person who gets his news from the MSM you are likely shocked and surprised. After all those warning about the Muslim Brotherhood came from people like Pam Geller and Robert Spencer and Front Page Magazine and blogs on the right.

How can this be? You KNOW the Muslim brotherhood is not radical, Barack Obama’s administration told you so, why one of Mrs. Clinton’s closest aides mother is in the women’s version of the organization.

Now however they have power in Egypt, the mask is off. You don’t have to believe hotair or the PJ Tatler or me, you can see the reports at CBS news ABC and the New York Times

Now I don’t blame the Muslim Brotherhood president of Egypt for doing this, like the tale of the Scorpion and the Frog he is acting according to his nature (no doubt learned in his years at USC) nor do I blame the Egyptian people who have the right to elect the president of their choice…but NOW that the choice is made it is up to the US to make them aware that such a choice has consequences.

And before you make the “oh it’s a different culture” argument consider this from Allahpundit:

Bear in mind, this guy has a Ph.D from USC, taught at Cal State-Northridge for three years in the early 80s, and has two children who are American by birth. This isn’t a case of a random Arab politician demagoging America by praising some jihadist degenerate who plotted against the U.S. This is a guy who lived here, studied here, worked here, and had kids here. And now he’s looking to spring someone who was even further ahead of the terrorist curve than Bin Laden. Go figure that a Truther would make freeing characters like Rahman a priority.

So now the mask is off and our friends on the left have to decide: Confronted with this new reality are they going to deal with it directly acknowledging what is going on and acting accordingly or is their hatred of Pam Geller, Robert Spencer,Kathy Shaidle and all of us who have sounded the warning for years just too comfortable for them to abandon it over a little thing like freeing the first person who tried to take down the World Trade center?

Your call people.

On Morning Joe in the 7:15 hour David Gregory was asked by Harold Ford if Democrats will now be running on Obamacare. To those who have cheering the loudest over Obamacare being upheld, he answer was astounding:

He said congressional candidates in tough districts will not want to run on it and even the White House will may not want to own this issue, although they do.

Think about this all of you guys on the left who are cheering this morning and all you on the right who are glum. On the day when the Democrats should be in full celebratory mode, where the Morning Joe crowd is bursting with Schadenfreude you have the White House and congressional candidates running away after a huge victory. We haven’t seen anything like this since McClellan and the seven days.

Meanwhile Mitt Romney has raised millions in under 24 hours and at the same time the Democrats can’t pay for their own convention the GOP is spending $2.2 million to promote GOP house candidates ON BOSTON TV.

As General Nathanael Greene said after Bunker Hill: I wish we could sell them another hill at the same price.

Update: Just after I published this Eric Cantor on Morning Joe called this a Pyrrhic victory for the White House and Chuck Todd when asked directly by Joe Scarborough if the “Claire McCaskill will want to run on this.” Todd admitted she and others congressional candidates are being “very careful” on this.

I hope the democrats enjoyed their one night stand, because their party will be paying for it through November and beyond.

Update 2: Michael Graham gets it:

Keeping Obamacare alive means Mitt Romney still has this unpopular plan to campaign against, including the individual mandate, the most unpopular part (60 percent of Americans oppose it). Do you really think turning the mandate from a government edict to a massive tax hike will make it more popular?

Update 3: That’s gotta smart

Update: The DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in progress, our goal is $3000 and any help is appreciated. (Hey if Mitt can raise 2.4 million in 24 hours a foot soldier in this fight should be worth at least $3000 or so. Today along with several other bloggers I was on a conference call with three congressional candidates in Massachusetts

Jon Golnik who is running in the 3rd district (my new district) Jeff Semon running in the 5th district (who appeared on my radio show a few weeks ago) and Chris Sheldon running in the 9th district.

They answered questions on Multiple Subjects on Obamacare, on their primary opponents, on Term limits (Interesting contrast there Jeff Semon is for them, Jon Golnik is against not liking to fiddle with the constitution and Chris Sheldon saying he would vote for such a bill but won’t unilaterally term limit himself without a law)

When the time for my question came I mentioned the Aaron Walker Swatting asking if they would sign onto senator Chambliss’ letter if elected and would support a new such letter assuming a president Romney won. Their answers were notable in several ways.

Firstly they all knew about the issue. That might not seem odd but in the last 48 hours I’ve talked to more than a dozen offices of house and senate members for comment and the majority of the offices I spoke to had no idea what SWATTING was, yet all three of these potential congressmen knew about the issue and spoke forcibly on the subject

Mr Semon not only said he would sign but declared it “sad” that it would be necessary to press the Attorney General to investigate such lawbreaking. Mr. Sheldon agreed saying ” the question but strongly objected Mr. Golnik saying he would sign, Mr. Sheldon called the SWATTINGS “outrageous” objecting to any attempt to intimidate members of the press including bloggers. Mr. Golnik agreed with both of his compatriots.

How is it that these three men knew about this issue without prompting when in office after office senator’s staff’s needed the situation explained?

Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why the GOP is feeling its oats in Massachusetts. The National GOP is putting 2.2 million dollars into ads for house races on Massachusetts TV.

Run that through your head a second in a year when Democrats can’t even pay for their own convention, a year when the president is reduced to begging newly weds for a share of their dowry and birthday money the GOP finds their prospects good enough to put 2.2 mill into the pot in Massachusetts.

As Chris Sheldon put it: “It’s telling, Obama recognizes he is in trouble and they are doubling down” and Jeff Semon noted that this is not their fathers or grandfathers democratic party and Jon Golnik says that with 55% unenrolled in his district it will be jobs jobs jobs.

If this is where we are today then the Democrats have a nasty surprise in store for them.

Ali Akbar: “…And if this law passes we’ll repeal it.”

DaTechGuy: “No we won’t!”

Boston: January 17th 2010

OK people on the left, you wanted Obamacare to be upheld it has been. Your huge tax increase on the American people (that you pretended was not) is legal.

To my friends on the right, I don’t care what the dissents were, they don’t matter. Nor am I going to pretend that we are going to be able to repeal it, we need 60 votes in the senate to do so and that just isn’t going to happen for a while, so let me tell you what IS going to happen.

1. Mitt Romney just won in 2012.

The Obama brand was in trouble already but there was some hesitation of those in the base to embrace him. There is absolutely nothing that will energize that base more than this issue. This is not going to be close.

2. Every election is now about Obamacare

The president has been giving individual organization wavers. Mitt Romney has already said he will give the entire country a waiver to Obamacare. This means that in 2016 the democrat candidate will have to revoke that waiver in order to implement it.

So every four years the question will be before the American People: “Do you want Obamacare implemented or not?”, until it is implemented or repealed.

Democrats this is the political ground you wanted, I hope you enjoy it.

Update: added sentence concerning: “Do you want Obamacare implemented or not?”

Update 2: If Obamacare is a tax then every democrat who runs promising to remove a Obamacare waiver is promising to increase taxes. It’s all up to us as Glenn Reynolds put it:

The Supreme Court has refused to save us from ourselves. The remedy now will have to be political.

Update 3: Remember when we were told that this wasn’t a tax?

Representative Louie Gohmert has a succinct summary of the Court’s decision today. The Supreme Court told us today “of course they are liars. You should have known they were liars.

Update 4: if you won’t believe me will you believe Ann Althouse?

I have said repeatedly that Obama would be worse off if Obamacare were upheld, but what I’m really seeing is how bad it is for him with the mandate declared a tax.

Remember the Democrats got the statute passed by insisting it was not a tax. Now, we learn it is only constitutional because it is a tax. That’s got to hurt politically.

Update 5: If this is true then it is a national disgrace

Scalia’s dissent, at least on first quick perusal, reads like it was originally written as a majority opinion (in particular, he consistently refers to Justice Ginsburg’s opinion as “The Dissent”). Back in May, there were rumors floating around relevant legal circles that a key vote was taking place, and that Roberts was feeling tremendous pressure from unidentified circles to vote to uphold the mandate. Did Roberts originally vote to invalidate the mandate on commerce clause grounds, and to invalidate the Medicaid expansion, and then decide later to accept the tax argument and essentially rewrite the Medicaid expansion (which, as I noted, citing Jonathan Cohn, was the sleeper issue in this case) to preserve it? If so, was he responding to the heat from President Obama and others, preemptively threatening to delegitimize the Court if it invalidated the ACA?

Update 6: Interesting point at Redstate via newsalert and Insty

With John Roberts’ opinion, the repeal fight takes place on GOP turf, not Democrat turf. The all or nothing repeal has always been better ground for the GOP and now John Roberts has forced everyone onto that ground. Oh, and as I mentioned earlier, because John Roberts concluded it was a tax, the Democrats cannot filibuster its repeal because of the same reconciliation procedure the Democrats used to pass it.

If that is correct it changes the equation

Update 7: The suckers are falling for it:

Immediately after the Supreme Court decision, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) sent out a petition that said, “Stand Up for Obamacare!”

“Sign here right now and tell President Obama that you have his back and show your support for Obamacare,” the petition urged.

Now that the DSCC has officially taken ownership of the “Obamacare” label, it will be interesting to see how that impacts Democrats, such as Missouri’s Claire McCaskill and Montana’s Jon Tester, who are in extremely tough Senate reelection battles in their respective states.

Please PLEASE democrats embrace Obamacare before this election.

Update 8: NRO gets it

First, those who dislike the mandate — which includes a majority of U.S. voters — will now have no recourse but to vote for Mitt Romney to repeal it. Second, the only way the administration prevailed was to have Obama’s main legislative accomplishment redefined as one of the largest middle-class tax increases in the history of the country.

Does that really sound like a good political outcome to you?

Sounds like a good political outcome to me.

Update 9: Hey remember the Catholic Church’s protests on religious liberty, lets not forget that thanks to today’s ruling they will continue through election day.

Update 10: The Anchoress:

Well, as Glenn points out a tax repeal can’t be filibustered. Interesting times ahead. Is it possible that Roberts, concerned by threats from the left that they would de-legitimize the court if it struck down Obamacare, reasoned as he did to both give the GOP a workable means of repealing the thing through legislation while also utterly defanging those threats? After all, if you look at the people screaming about the court yesterday, they’re all purring like kittens on twitter, and calling SCOTUS “humble” and “judicious.” There’s no more talk of “partisan, activist judges” today.

Are the Dems and the press going to wake up in the middle of the night, think about that and cringe?

That’s up to the voters.

Update 11: Roxeanne De Luca: John Roberts, I love you, you blue-eyed, diabolical hottie

As everyone continues to wonder what is going on with the Obamacare ruling it’s important to remember how we got here:

When Obamacare was first proposed the Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and an overwhelming majority in the House.

Despite this to pass this bill the president had to pull teeth, and literally give a whole state an exemption from the bill in order to get it through the senate.

The Backlash was so strong that it resulted in a Republican winning a Senate Seat in Massachusetts for the first time since 1972.

Once Scott Brown was elected as there was no chance of getting a bill through a conference committee so the existing senate bill was sent directly to the house for a vote.

Even with that overwhelming majority the house barely passed the bill two months later with 34 democrats opposing it.

The end result in 2010 was the Big Red Wave that resulted not only in Republican control of the house (and six seats won in the senate) but over 700+ GOP gains all over the country.

This is what Obamacare has done to the democrat party.

I have no idea what is going to happen later today, but if I’m the democrat party I hope and PRAY that this law goes away. If this law is upheld or if only the mandate is struck down and the rest of the law survives then every Democrat senator running for election becomes the 60th vote that passed Obamacare and it becomes an issue in every single competitive house race.

Let’s not forget what Senator Pat Toomey

Rep Allen West said at the Americans for Prosperity rally during the Supreme Court deliberations.

“I don’t think they have the courage to come out”

And let’s go one step further if Obamacare is upheld and a President Romney gives the entire nation a waiver (which he has promised to do) then every single election from now on becomes a referendum on Obamacare until it is replaced or repealed

This is what the future for every Democrat candidate for the house and senate from now on if this law is upheld.

Good luck.

Update: Well at least one person doesn’t wonder:

What possible difference could all this second-guessing make? The court will rule whatever the court rules, without regard for what a bunch of bloggers say about it.

He also quotes Ace who said:

Dudes, the opinion was at the printer days ago. The conference vote was like two months ago. The opinions were finished, edited, and proofed like three weeks ago.

This ruling is like seeing an exploding star in space, we become aware of it now, but the star actually blew up centuries ago.

Update: Mandate is a tax and thus Constitutional OK Democrats you wanted this, you own it.

Update 2: Remind me again why we try to nominate conservative judges?

Anyone who has been following what has been going on in Egypt has seen what a mob can do as reporter Natasha Smith found out:

My friend did everything he could to hold onto me. But hundreds of men were dragging me away, kicking and screaming. I was pushed onto a small platform as the crowd surged, where I was hunched over, determined to protect my camera. But it was no use. My camera was snatched from my grasp. My rucksack was torn from my back – it was so crowded that I didn’t even feel it. The mob stumbled off the platform – I twisted my ankle.

Men began to rip off my clothes. I was stripped naked. Their insatiable appetite to hurt me heightened. These men, hundreds of them, had turned from humans to animals.

Hundreds of men pulled my limbs apart and threw me around. They were scratching and clenching my breasts and forcing their fingers inside me in every possible way. So many men. All I could see was leering faces, more and more faces sneering and jeering as I was tossed around like fresh meat among starving lions.

Well that was in Egypt and it was a single woman, it’s not like you are going to see a Muslim mob assaulting a woman in America like that and it’s even less likely that it would happen to a group of men, and even if a mob wanted to stone a group of men in America it not like the police would just stand by and refuse to protect them.

…of course I could be wrong about that.

And BTW I thought it was an ARAB festival, aren’t we told that there are plenty of Arab Christians?

To those who insist Islam is a religion of peace, and to those who oppose laws restricting Sharia: This is the future , if it isn’t stopped RIGHT NOW the consequences in a few years are going to be horrible.

BTW reverse the religions of the people in that video, would there have been any other story on the news yesterday?

One of the things that differentiates this week’s Swatting of Aaron Walker(Worthing) is that it has come after Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga) sent this letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to investigate if any Federals laws were violated in these Swatting Incidents. This letter was signed by over eighty members of Congress.

Now that we have had a new incident this week this gives an excuse to seek comment from members who have not signed this letter to see if they will and from all members of congress for comment on this issue.

I have received the following comment from Congresswoman Renne Ellmers of North Carolina:

“Any intimidation or threats to Americans exercising their rights to free speech is disgraceful and should be investigated fully by our justice system.”

“I applaud Senator Chambliss’ letter on this calling for an investigation by the Justice Department.”

Meanwhile clues continue to be uncovered by Patterico, Aaron Worthing and of course Stacy McCain and Aaron will be on the Lars Larson show tonight at 8 p.m. EST.

If Brett Kimberlin doesn’t like people talking about him, then might I suggest to any friend or cult follower of him that Swattings which produce appearances on national radio shows and comments from sitting members of congress is a bad idea

But that’s just me.

Any guy who has been turned down for a date knows the social convention of coming up with some kind of excuse for not going out (instead of the much kinder “I’m just not interested”).

Claire McCaskill is the latest Democrat to decide that she will be waxing her legs that week.

She was among the first senators to endorse him over presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton in 2008, doing so just five days after Hillary’s big win in New Hampshire. That was a major vote of confidence in him coming from a key swing-state senator and prominent woman pol; Team Clinton “aggressively sought” her endorsement at the time but McCaskill stuck with Hopenchange. As recently as last October, notes National Journal, she was defiant in standing by her buddy O:

If she thought appearing with Obama would win her votes she would be there. If you don’t believe me will you believe the man in charge of electing democrats?

The man responsible for getting Democrats elected to the Congress this fall has a message for his party’s candidates: Stay away from the Democratic National Convention in September.

Listen, you can show me whatever poll you want, you can have any talking head you want pushing whatever message you want in the media but ACTION speak louder than words, and the Actions of the party says one thing to democrats.

Run away from your party!

Run away from this president!

So the GOP reaction should be this:

Ride Right Through them, they’re demoralized as Hell!

If we don’t take advantage of this, it’s our own fault
