Let’s go a lit­tle deeper into my thoughts con­cern­ing the professional/​activist left from my last post.

I’ve been research­ing some old posts at Stacy McCain’s pre­vi­ous site for a project and one of the mile­stones was Smitty’s first post as a co-​blogger on March 3^rd 2009. This post linked to a speech by con­ser­v­a­tive come­dian Evan Sayett called How Mod­ern Lib­er­als Think at Her­itage that five years later is still not only still worth lis­ten­ing to but is eerie in its rel­e­vance today.

I thought of this after an exchange on twit­ter last night. The has been a side­line to the Brett Kim­ber­lin story a clash involv­ing Ali Akbar & Ladd Ehlinger where the lat­est punch was thrown last night. It’s my opin­ion the entire busi­ness sim­ply empow­ers those try­ing to change the sub­ject and last night a tweeter of the left using the Pseu­do­nym P. J. Nico­la­tore with the twit­ter account .@nicoleGennette (no it’s not the actual lady Anthony Weiner was tweet­ing his junk to)

And then tweeted out Stacy McCain’s lat­est not­ing that it received yet another Insta­lanche mean­ing tens of thou­sands of peo­ple will see it. This is the tweet that came back:

Now lets me remind you again. Robert Stacy McCain is an Amer­i­can Jour­nal­ist who for their own safety found it nec­es­sary to remove his fam­ily and him­self from their home and state for exer­cis­ing his first Amend­ment rights. To me that’s a blas­ph­mey against the prin­ci­ples of Amer­ica and it’s con­sti­tu­tion, to the mod­ern left, it’s a laugh line.

There was a time when the media/​left would have been out­raged over try­ing to silence a reporter for report­ing a story.

There was a time when the media/​left would have been out­raged over fir­ing of a Whis­tle Blower by the gov­ern­ment.

There was a time when the media/​left would be out­raged over the death of a bor­der agent due to a gov­ern­ment program.

…or declar­ing Nobel Peace prize win­ner Lech Walesa too polit­i­cal for a medal of free­dom ceremony.

…or a Car­toon­ist forced to go into hid­ing over a fatwa

…or attempts to silence blog­gers that might get them killed

…or attempts to intim­i­date a black polit­i­cal activist into silence (back­ground issues not withstanding)

…or protests AGAINST groups fight­ing child trafficking

…or a call for the destruc­tion of places of wor­ship of a reli­gious minority

…or guide­lines for women’s behavior

These posi­tions are not acci­dents, let me remind you of the words of left­ist Stan­ley Fish:

I know the objec­tions to what I have said here. It amounts to an apol­ogy for iden­tity pol­i­tics. It ele­vates tribal oblig­a­tions over the uni­ver­sal oblig­a­tions we owe to each other as cit­i­zens. It licenses dif­fer­en­tial and dis­crim­i­na­tory treat­ment on the basis of con­tested points of view. It sub­sti­tutes for the rule “don’t do it to them if you don’t want it done to you” the rule “be sure to do it to them first and more effec­tively.” It implies finally that might makes right. I can live with that.

It is not an acci­dent that dur­ing the cold war it seemed what­ever side the US was on, the left was on the other. These peo­ple are a machine that is only about power.

Now I know plenty of peo­ple on the left, like my Arch Enemy friend Chris, my friends Mike and his wife, com­menter Foible who this would cer­tainly not apply to and I see some oth­ers online such as Dominic Nanni who are young mean well and have the poten­tial to fig­ure things in the end who this would not apply to out even­tu­ally. I sus­pect each of them would be prop­erly upset at all the things above. Unfor­tu­nately the only peo­ple who can say that about left’s lead­ing lights are those not pay­ing attention.

Update: BTW let me point out that while the left is attempt­ing to intim­i­date and silence Robert Stacy McCain, I never said they’ve suc­ceeded.

In attempt­ing to dis­cover the iden­tity of “Randy Hahn,” the #Sto­pRush boy­cott leader Shoq sought the ser­vices of Demo­c­rat con­sul­tant Neal Rauhauser, the e-​mails obtained by The Trenches show. Rauhauser pro­vided the group with exten­sive doc­u­men­ta­tion about a Hous­ton man named Jason, whose sur­name was redacted in the ver­sion posted by Bayne. Rauhauser then mused about expos­ing the man to harass­ment by send­ing his per­sonal infor­ma­tion to online groups.

If Shoq’s claims are accu­rate, the lat­est reports may sug­gest mul­ti­ple con­nec­tions between the Lim­baugh boy­cott, MSNBC, the Obama cam­paign, Demo­c­rat oper­a­tives like Rauhauser, and tax-​exempt groups like Media Mat­ters and Kimberlin’s Vel­vet Revolution.

In 2012 you don’t need a per­ma­nent home, just an inter­net con­nec­tion to write.
