ReadabilityIf you love husband or wife more than Obama you are not worthy of Obama
When via (Weasel Zippers) I saw this at the Obama campaign site:

All I could think of was this quote:
“If any one comes to me without hating his father 7 and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Obama Luke 14:26
And this from Abe Lincoln who in addition to being tough on vampires, had a different view of the Presidencyemphasis mine
One black man, overcome by emotion, dropped to his knees, prompting the president to conduct a curbside colloquium on the meaning of emancipation. “Don’t kneel to me,” said the president. “That is not right. You must kneel to God only, and thank Him for the liberty you will enjoy hereafter.”
Talk about liberalism is a religion! Who wants to make book how soon this goes down? I don’t think it lasts past Monday.

Peter, Mrs SDN and I tied the knot in 2002, right after Fellowship of the Ring came out. The jeweler told us he’d
had multiple requests to put the One Ring inscription on people’s wedding bands. I thought that putting something that stood for enslavement on your symbol of a lifetime commitment was untoppable squick.
I was wrong.
Good point, Peter. And Don makes so many good points, his comment should be a post of its own. I think he’s absolutely right. You’d have to have your head buried very far into the sand in order to sell this “registry” idea with a straight face.
I mean, come on, don’t they know how cynical we are as a culture, left, right and “neither” alike?

I never understood Luke 14:26; it seems fundamentally opposite of the teachings.
In other news, I’d keep the gravy bowl, myself.
Mmmmm, gravy.

Obama always doubles down. Don’t expect this kind of thing to go away. The Bain ads blew up in their face, and they switched from calling Romney a “Vulture Capitalist” to a “Corporate Raider” AKA “Gordon Geiko” from the “wallstreet” movie in the 80′s.
These people are stuck in a rut, trying to re-do failed socialist claptrap from whatever decade of prosperity they feel they could emulate if only given the chance to do things right.
Fear not, this is Obama’s core strategy to get re-elected, not some psychological head-fake. Expect to see more of the same, only more desperate, false and nasty as the election draws near. He has never faced a serious opponent in an election that was closely contested. He ran virtually unopposed in every race until the 2008 Democrat Primary. He got carried across the finish line by the MSM and “new media”. It was the first “youtube election”, since YouTube was founded in 2005. Remember that? The idea of free hosted streaming video was brand new as far as Presidential campaigns were concerned.
Since then, Conservatives’ online presence has exploded.
I don’t think the Left have fully embraced the idea that they no longer control what becomes public knowledge in real time. They are the true “dinosaurs” with their stale ideas and static thinking.
Your current profession would not be possible if Obama, and the ideological Left’s philosophy worked in the real world. (Don’t get me wrong, I know you could have succeeded at anything you put your mind to. My point is, would you have been a Blogger and activist with a Radio show if the Economy was roaring?) The utter failure of these people to justify what they have wrought, and their attempts to lay it at the feet of a guy who was voted out of office in late 2008 is pathetic.
They act as if the 2010 congressional elections didn’t even happen and call Republicans “obstructionist” when that is exactly what they were elected to do!
I’m not happy that Romney is our nominee, but I’ll vote for the guy. This election is going to be epic though. Obama is a failure, yet favored by “the media”. Romney was largely viewed by his own party to be the weakest candidate in all off the polls, yet he won the nomination for all intents.
Despite the almost lock-step compliance by most of the legacy media, Obama’s message has repeatedly blown up in his face. They have had a virtual blackout on the most important stories for the last 3 years and the “new media” have stepped up to the plate. How many scandals in the Obama Admin make Watergate look like small beans now? You guys have your work cut out for you. Thank you and God Bless.
I have to laugh at the arrogance: these people really think that a ordinary American couple will fondly look back upon their wedding guests’ campaign contributions to Obama? The arrogance to think that more Obama TV ads or door-knockers or paid hecklers will benefit a couple more than a gravy boat? Do they think that the little people don’t deserve fine china?
You missed this bit: “it’s a gift we can all appreciate.”
How soon we move from “tax the rich!” to demanding that other people’s presents benefit themselves.
Incidentally, this probably indicates that Obama fund-raising is not going nearly as well as expected. Otherwise, he wouldn’t need to ask for people’s wedding presents.
“and goes a lot further than a gravy bowl.” I’d rather have the gravy bowl, at least it’s useful for something and it won’t stop being a gravy bowl after January 2013.
