Anyone who has been following what has been going on in Egypt has seen what a mob can do as reporter Natasha Smith found out:
My friend did everything he could to hold onto me. But hundreds of men were dragging me away, kicking and screaming. I was pushed onto a small platform as the crowd surged, where I was hunched over, determined to protect my camera. But it was no use. My camera was snatched from my grasp. My rucksack was torn from my back – it was so crowded that I didn’t even feel it. The mob stumbled off the platform – I twisted my ankle.
Men began to rip off my clothes. I was stripped naked. Their insatiable appetite to hurt me heightened. These men, hundreds of them, had turned from humans to animals.
Hundreds of men pulled my limbs apart and threw me around. They were scratching and clenching my breasts and forcing their fingers inside me in every possible way. So many men. All I could see was leering faces, more and more faces sneering and jeering as I was tossed around like fresh meat among starving lions.
Well that was in Egypt and it was a single woman, it’s not like you are going to see a Muslim mob assaulting a woman in America like that and it’s even less likely that it would happen to a group of men, and even if a mob wanted to stone a group of men in America it not like the police would just stand by and refuse to protect them.
…of course I could be wrong about that.
And BTW I thought it was an ARAB festival, aren’t we told that there are plenty of Arab Christians?
To those who insist Islam is a religion of peace, and to those who oppose laws restricting Sharia: This is the future , if it isn’t stopped RIGHTNOW the consequences in a few years are going to be horrible.
BTW reverse the religions of the people in that video, would there have been any other story on the news yesterday?

[…] I predict that this will get the same condemnation and attention from Democrats local and national and the same attention from the police as this video from Michigan did earlier this year: […]
[…] it’s not just polls remember the events in Dearborn. The youths in the video hurling projectiles and invectives were Americans raised in the USA, part […]
I’ve seen the video. But what’s interesting is that you’ve ignored my questions–which go directly to your points. You say we should all fear muslims. But really? How many muslims have killed non-muslim Americans over the last 10 years? How many churches have the muslims defaced? How is sharia even a remote threat to our country?
You ignore these questions because it’s inconvenient to your narrative. Prove me wrong. Please. I have the humility to admit if I’m in error. But in two wars, and literally, 100s of thousands killed and wounded–even you can’t deny those statistics–and how many of these people were Americans targeted by Muslims on our soil?
If you can’t answer this question, then you have have to ask yourself a question: are you really interested in critical thinking and polemic, or are you simply parroting back others’ bullet points to serve the broader narrative? A conversation isn’t a one-way monologue based on your assumption; it’s based on facts and logic. I presented my opposing point of view that non-Muslim Americans have much less to fear from Muslims than Muslims have to fear from non-Muslim Americans. I used data–incontrovertible facts, in all honesty. And your response is a snarky, one-sentence reply? Seriously? Look, I know you’re not a moron; you actually *do* have critical thinking skills; I’ve read your material. But I suspect you won’t address contrarian data because you know I’m right. It’s called cognitive dissonance. And ironically, denial is what you’re projecting. A woman was accosted in a mob in Cairo? That’s your argument? Sexual assault occurs thousands of times a day in these United States by non-Muslims. Where’s your outrage about that? Oh, right, sorry: no outrage, because it doesn’t suit the anti-Muslim narrative. (don’t believe me? read about it: http://www.rainn.org/statistics/).
Now, you don’t have to agree with me, but at least have the courage to address the data with an adult, reasoned response. NON-MUSLIM AMERICANS HAVE KILLED FAR MORE MUSLIMS AND HAVE FOR MANY YEARS THAN MUSLIMS HAVE KILLED AMERICANS.
That is a true statement. You don’t want to address it, fine. But you are diminished for your inability to do so, and shame on you for asking for money for your tip jar when you don’t have the strength to stand up to a reasonable argument with an equally reasoned defense. You should be embarrassed.
Rather sly putting a new comment on a different post than were you asked your question so my rebuttal isn’t visible but be that as it may….
Again you turn “anti-islamic” that is the terrorist vs “anti-muslim” which is a totally different thing.
I know it might be naive to some but when you are at war, killing the people who are trying to kill you and your allies is a positive.
I have absolutely no idea how many enemy casualties we inflicted, and don’t pretend to , but I can quantify how many people were killed in terror attacks by Islamists in the last week (280)
Since we are at war with Islamic Terrorists by definition those enemies are by definition Muslims since they are a subset of Muslims and as long as we at war with them and they with us I approve killing them.
The whole problem with your argument is that even as you make them new terror attacks take place all over the world that have nothing to do with the United States or American Troops and the dead (mostly Muslims) killed by Islamists remain dead.
Draw all the moral equivalences you want, such statements say much more about you than my support of our fight against terror says about me or the troops.
Oh and let me update him with some news…
2012.07.01 (Ghazni, Afghanistan) – Five women and children are ripped apart when the Taliban bomb their bus.
“The bus was travelling from Kabul to Kandahar. Along the road near Ghazni city it struck a roadside bomb. Five people were killed and 11 others were injured,” provincial police chief Zarawar Zahid told AFP. Baz Mohammad Hemat, a doctor in the local hospital, confirmed the casualties.
I’d like to say this is unusual but unfortunately I can list almost daily attacks in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Feel free to make your case, I trust my readers to make a wise judgement.
No, I wasn’t intending to be sly at all. I was simply responding. Sly is not something I’m interested in. I’m interested in data and logic. But, let’s address your response:
“Again you turn “anti-islamic” that is the terrorist vs “anti-muslim” which is a totally different thing.”
>>So, wait, based on this logic, the men in Cairo, were all terrorists? That’s the inescapable conclusion, since you’re saying that people need to be afraid of the men in Cairo who did this. How is that supposition even remotely indicated by the facts? It’s not. Your baseline assumption is faulty–and therefore illogical. Can you prove that the men of Cairo who accosted that woman are terrorists? You don’t even *mention* the word “terrorist” in your original post. You see, I have not conflated Muslims with Islamic terrorists, but ironically enough, *you* most certainly have. You state it very clearly in your original post (which I suggest you re-read):
“To those who insist Islam is a religion of peace, and to those who oppose laws restricting Sharia: This is the future , if it isn’t stopped RIGHT NOW the consequences in a few years are going to be horrible.
>> So, here, right in these quotes, you’re stating that “Islam” is a dangerous threat by implying that it’s not a religion of peace–y You imply, very clearly, that it’s not a religion of peace at all, and that things will be “horrible” if it’s not stopped. You’re not saying a word about extremists. You’re talking, very very clearly, about Islam. Ironically, the “Christian United States” is the entity that has killed hundreds of thousands of Muslims justified only by the fact that it’s “war.”
“And BTW I thought it was an ARAB festival, aren’t we told that there are plenty of Arab Christians?”
As for this particularly unfortunate snarky comment about Arab Christians, you might want to look up some facts to see just how many of your “brothers and sisters” are, in fact, ARAB. Egypt: 10,000,000. Syria: 5,000,000. Lebanon: 2,300,000. Look it up, bogger, jesus, at least earn your tip money: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Christians
“I know it might be naive to some but when you are at war, killing the people who are trying to kill you and your allies is a positive.”
>>Snark is fine, but certainly doesn’t help your argument. I understand what war is, and I understand that we propagated a war on Iraq–forget Afghanistan for the moment–against a country that did not attack us. You’re illogically justifying killing people who are “trying to kill you and your allies.” We’re in THEIR country. We attacked THEM without provocation and based on bad data and analysis. OF COURSE they’re going to bloody well try to attack and kill us. Even republican Colin Powell has indicated that we went to war based on bad information and that the National Security Council wasn’t even consulted–this one you have to look up for yourself. You use “war” as a justification for killing hundreds of thousands of people, the vast majority of whom were Muslims, even though there was no justification for the war in the first place.
But ask yourself: Do you think that Jesus would approve of such a thing? Honestly? We did it based on bad judgment and largely documentation that was poor at best, and aggressively wrong-headed at the least. Hundreds of thousands killed and wounded based on…what?–and you say that MUSLIMS are to be feared. Do you not see the irony in this? Even remotely? If Jesus knew that his “followers” were killing hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children in his name today, he’d be deeply ashamed. At best.
“I have absolutely no idea how many enemy casualties we inflicted, and don’t pretend to , but I can quantify how many people were killed in terror attacks by Islamists in the last week (280)”
Well, finally, at least an honest admission–and you should be ashamed that you haven’t even bothered to find out how many people–including peaceful Muslims who lived under the terror of Saddam Hussein (replaced, if sheer numbers are the metric, by our own terror campaign) that we’ve killed there. it matters. it’s not incidental; my god, how appalling. Dude, do the homework, it’s very widely available. No, here, I’ll do it: In human terms, 224,000 to 258,000 people have died directly from warfare, including 125,000 civilians in Iraq. (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/29/us-usa-war-idUSTRE75S25320110629). ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND CIVILIANS. That’s the number. We, as a country, should be deeply ashamed. The total numbers are about 1/100th the population of Iraq. If this were the US, that’d be about 3.6 MILLION killed in total or 1.8 MILLION civilian Americans. Has this stuff ever crossed your mind? What we’re doing to people abroad in the name of–what, exactly?
“Since we are at war with Islamic Terrorists by definition those enemies are by definition Muslims since they are a subset of Muslims and as long as we at war with them and they with us I approve killing them.”
>>You weren’t talking about a subset of anyone in your original post, though, were you. You didn’t mention terrorism at all. Or subsets. And you didn’t include any caveats about how you weren’t talking about all Muslims, only those who are extremists. So, please, stop hiding man up: you were attacking the Muslim religion, and you’re conflating the people in Cairo with terrorists. We aren’t at war with the people in Cairo who attacked this woman–based on your logic, we should have drone-attacked the whole place then and there because “you have no problem killing them.”
You specifically went after Islam as being not a religion “of peace.” Honestly, I don’t know how you sleep at night when you know better and yet you gin up angry, violent hatred against these people and hide behind the threat of terrorism.
As for the Taliban? I despise them. But you weren’t talking about the Taliban in your post, you were talking about Muslims in general. There were no Taliban in Cairo, were there? Do you have any idea how polemic and logic work? This is just another way to deflect logic and make the point “about something else” that you’d like it to be about.
Amazing. But I appreciate this. Because it’s an excellence snapshot of how the extreme right thinks. You conflate various pieces of data–related or not–to support a narrative. If someone counters, you pretend that the original point was never the intent, even though the quotes very clearly support that. How so? You ignore the main points of your own arguments (you never mentioned subsets or terrorists, and clearly reviled Islam as “not peaceful”) and then pretend that it was about something else all along (terrorists!) which you never even mentioned in your original post. Not once. This really sums it up: you guys either a) really don’t understand basic syllogistic reasoning or b) you do, but prefer not to “go there” because it doesn’t support your narrative. Well done. I hope you don’t mind if share this with my lefty friends so they can see what we’re up against: gut feelings, misdirection, and unsupportable “sly” feints to deflect criticism and justify the slaughter of innocents. I will say only this: Thanks for reminding me why I must continue to fight against you and your ilk.
That being the case, would you mind very much repeating your comment in the thread that we started in. I ask for the convenience of the readers as it’s would help them follow the whole conversation. Once you do so I’ll do the same. I’d feel uncomfortable moving them or duplicating them myself.
Yeah, good points, because all the vicious violent muslims right here in the US attack non-muslims constantly! You know, like, um, well, er…there was that one time that, um, no, I can’t think of a single Muslim on non-Muslim attack here in the US. Can you? Anyone? Okay, so, let’s move on to sharia and how that represents a threat to the US, because yeah, it’s been instituted in…um. Wait. How could it be instituted in the US and it’s reasonable to think that it would be because, um, what?
