In the past few years, Mr. Ewart has spent time hanging out with evangelicals – people who actually talk about loving Jesus. He admires their personal, emotional connection to God. Lately, he has even started praying.
That might seem odd, didn’t he learn anything back in his seminary days?
“When I went to seminary, we never talked about prayer,” says Mr. Ewart. “I had an intellectual relationship with Jesus. But love Jesus? Not so much.”
I guess that would explain the 60% decline when the top issue being discussed is boycotting Israel and affirming Transgendered Priests is it any wonder that you are pretty much ignored and the average age of your congregation is 65.
But apparently there is a solution if you want to find faith, simply hang out with people who actually have it, evangelicals, Orthodox Catholics etc, remember the words of the prophet:
if the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of the crimes he committed shall be remembered against him; he shall live because of the virtue he has practiced. Do I indeed derive any pleasure from the death of the wicked? says the Lord GOD. Do I not rather rejoice when he turns from his evil way that he may live? Ezekiel 18:21 – 23
or the words of Christ himself:
Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She replied, “No one, sir.” Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, (and) from now on do not sin any more.” John 8:10 – 11
If you decide to change your ways you’ll be surprised at how much God will give you a hand.
