One of the things that I have found so frustrating over the last year, in person, on the blog and on the radio show has been the pessimism among some on the right concerning the results of the election.

I’ve pointed time and time again to the various political candidates with skin in the game who are clearly running away from a Toxic Obama, but it hasn’t mattered, some disaster is going to happen, some speech is going to be given, the Spanish Voting machines are going to be fixed or some bit of Republican stupidity is going to turn victory in defeat.

Well if you won’t believe me based on political skin in the game, will you believe people with FINANCIAL skin in the game?

With just 100 days left until the U.S. presidential election, investors are beginning to make bigger bets on which candidate will carry the day.

One analysis concludes that last week’s sharp three-day market surge can only mean that Wall Street is banking on a victory from Republican Mitt Romney.

This story from that bastion of conservative thought CNBC has drawn a lot of reactions, The Lonely conservative is cautious, Allahpundit worries it will be spun against Romney while Wonkette is crying BS and folks on twitter are seeing tweets like this:

and having reactions like this:

The dirty secret is this is entirely predictable. The Obama Campaign spent millions in July when nobody but pundits and folks like me were paying attention to keep donors and true believers thinking this is a tight race we can win it if only I give another $300

But with under 100 days to go the people who actually have to make decisions based on the future can see the tea leaves and are acting accordingly. No amount of spin or outrage will change that

“Ride right through them, they’re demoralized as hell”!

When the dam breaks it will be a deluge

…and officially declare it a propaganda organ?

Mind you the Washington post isn’t citing an unnamed source that has talked to them, they are reporting that someone else (Harry Reid) claims that an unnamed source said something.

I don’t claim to have been in this business all that many years, but I know enough that I can’t report hearsay.

A simple example two years ago at CPAC when I brought up the name of a person who said something nice about me the person who I was talking to snorted and told me something about said person that raised an eyebrow.

The person who told me this was someone I liked, someone I normally would trust and said story would have been a hell of a story to break, but there was no proof provided, no details, just this is what he had been told.

I never followed up on the story, (still don’t plan to) it’s stuck in the back of my mind with a lot of rumors etc that I’ve heard since I’ve gotten in this business.

I don’t have an editor, I don’t have a handler, yet I know enough not to go with this. If the Washington Post doesn’t it tells me two things

1. They are dishonorable hacks.

2. They are in full panic mode concerning November

I may be just a blogger and radio host trying to make it on my own, Things may be so tight that I can’t afford a car these days, and I don’t pretend not to be biased in the upcoming election, but I hope and pray I never reach the point where I am willing to sell my integrity for the sake of a jab against Obama.

Simply Amazing.

Oh and I know the story started at the Huffpo and the post is “just reporting what Huffpo” said but they are an actual newspaper that is supposed to mean something.

Update: Just got off the phone with Robert Stacy McCain his take: Standards? We don’t need no sinking standards.

Update 2: Instalanche thanks Glenn. Don’t miss the story of Sarah Palin Political Venture Capitalist, Figure out what people with skin in the game think and if you are sick of Political stuff, a review of a good restaurant.

Oh and Neo-Neocon has the explanation. The Press is at war.

Update 3: Stacy McCain elaborates

Instead of doing some, y’know, reporting on this remarkable claim, the WaPo’s Ed O’Keefe lets it go with this bland acknowledgement:

Neither Reid nor his aides would identify the alleged investor, HuffPo reported.

Grant that Reid’s wild accusation — “financial McCarthyism,” you might call it — is newsworthy even if it is absolutely false. And it almost certainly is false, Dan Primack of Fortune says. But is it now an accepted practice at the Washington Post just to repeat whatever politicians say (in interviews with reporters for other publications) without bothering to do any independent reporting at all?

Update 4: Now it’s own memeorandum thread complete with insults from the left. I’m grateful for the insults, it proves I’m hitting a nerve. Meanwhile Althouse gets it

Here’s one of the highest rated comments:

It may appear that Reid’s claim that Romney paid no taxes for ten years is extreme and poorly sourced — however, if Mitt thinks his comment is unfair, all he has to do to make Reid appear a liar and a fool is to release his own tax returns, which is totally within his power.

While not having paid ANY taxes for TEN years is a sufficient cause for Mitt to not release them, it is not a necessary cause. There could be many other things he wishes to hide, from offshore tax shelters, to very low tax rates, to connections to Bain Capital actions he wishes to hide from. There is only one thing certain about Romney’s tax returns: HE KNOWS that there is SOMETHING in them which is disqualifying, that there is something that dare not face the light of day.

That’s the narrative. All you have to do is to track people into thinking like that, and Harry Reid knows it.

This is what the media has come to.

DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in progress, unlike the Washington Post I didn’t get $500,000 today as a grant from the Ford Foundation but I haven’t sold my personal honor to try to elect Romney. If you think a person more honorable than the Washington post is worth your investment I’d appreciated your help.

Monday on Morning Joe they covered a blockbuster story by Campbell Brown concerning the Teachers Unions in NY:

By resisting almost any change aimed at improving our public schools, teachers unions have become a ripe target for reformers across the ideological spectrum. Even Hollywood, famously sympathetic to organized labor, has turned on unions with the documentary “Waiting for ‘Superman'” (2010) and a feature film, “Won’t Back Down,” to be released later this year. But perhaps most damaging to the unions’ credibility is their position on sexual misconduct involving teachers and students in New York schools, which is even causing union members to begin to lose faith.

It’s big news and important news, the unions and the pols protecting teachers unions on this issue, Campbell Brown should be complemented for covering the story. And Morning Joe should be complemented not only for covering but for being only 27 months behind DaTechGuy blog

I’m sure that as soon as the New York Schools abandon celibacy and allow workers to marry this problem will totally disappear. Just like when the celibacy and marriage requirements were removed from Boy Scout leaders and the US Swim Team.

And the Anchoress:

In New York, Queens Assemblywoman Margaret Markey routinely presents a bill which seeks to open a year-long “window” into the statute of limitations on child sex-abuse cases, allowing victims whose cases may go back as far as 40 years to bring suit for damages.

Because the bill has -until now- been limited by Markey to impact the churches, exclusively, it has always either failed or been shelved. It is difficult to pass a bill that essentially finds some sexual abuse victims to be more worthy of redress than others.

And the The hermeneutic of continuity

The excuses are all now tumbling out. The New York City Mayor is concerned about the potential impact for taxpayers. Welcome to the real world, Mayor. Catholics in the pews have seen billions of dollars, donated by them over decades, paid out in compensation to victims of clerical abuse and episcopal failure. It is tough but we have to recognize responsibility.

The State Association of Counties has issued a memo of opposition citing the problem of “significantly aged and clouded” evidence. Well, as we have learnt in the Church, extending the statute of limitations is necessary because the nature of the crime means that it may take a long time before a person is ready to confront the abuse that they have suffered in the past.

The New York State School Boards Association has said that the revelation of past misdeeds would provide no extra protection for children. They should talk to Safeguarding Officials and good lay Catholics who know that the revelation of past crimes is a very strong motivation to provide robust safeguarding procedures.

or even dare I say it the New York Times

Until last year, proposals to change the statute of limitations would not have affected public bodies and fallen largely on the church. After much debate, the bill, sponsored by Assemblywoman Margaret Markey, a Queens Democrat, was amended to include governments and their employees.

Suddenly, lobbyists and advocates for school boards, counties and small towns spoke out.

Since Morning Joe normally jumps all over stuff in the Times Back in may of 2010 I wrote this:

I am simply dying to see how Joe and Mika choose to cover this. I wonder how they will approach it? I’m scheduling this post for Monday morning before the show, so we can see if they touch the New York Law.

Well it was a Monday, just a Monday 27 months later. Strangely nobody suggested ending celibacy or allowing public school teachers to marry as a solution.

If they only read DaTechGuy blog they would know around here we’ve managed along with others to hit the subject.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we are seeing the story and the subsequent blog posts elsewhere, who knows, with a little more staff and some luck they might catch up to us on a few more stories a little faster.

The DaTechGuy fundraiser lumbers on. With your aid this one man blog with the occasional post from RoxeAnne De Luca will continue to keep it’s 27 month lead on breaking news over MSNBC’s meager staff.

The MSM has been breathlessly reporting that Mitt Romney’s statements about “culture” being a reason Israel has gone farther with fewer resources in the 65 years of its existence than every Arab country that surrounds them that have spent those same 65 years trying to slaughter them.

What is the kind of culture that could be holding the others back, maybe something like this:

Turken told The Jewish Press that witnesses will testify that, in addition to cursing the Jews and yelling at her staff to remove them from the pool, Adaya was heard saying, “my family will disown me,” and that her “investors will be furious,” if the plaintiffs remained on site.

The genius of America is not only the ability to reach your potential but the ability to leave behind the old world hatreds.

However the Arab culture is a “face” culture. It the same type of culture in some ways as Sicilians and because of the old world connections family types her fear of what might happen is not an inconsequential thing.

However we are not seeing that, particularly with Radical Islam.

Our friends on the left want to pooh pooh this, ignore it, even when their wrath is directed on other favored groups.

Our nation and our friends on the left ignore it at their peril.

Food for thought; There are a lot of disturbing things in this story, but for my money the most disturbing bit was this:

Tehmina (Tamie) Adaya, a Pakistani-American Muslim, is the owner of the Shangri-La. Her father, Ahmad Adaya, was a founding partner of the California real estate company IDS Real Estate Group. He also was a founder and benefactor of the New Horizon School for Muslim religious education in Southern California. emphasis mine

After all someone has to teach the next generation to keep those [expletive deleted] Jews out of their pools.
