DaTechGuy goes to see Allen West in Lexington

I was plan­ning to cover an event in New­bury­port MA today da plan was to get there at 11 to cover till 2 until I got word via Free­dom Con­nec­tor that Con­gress­man Allen West (Fl-​22) was com­ing to Lex­ing­ton green for 11 a.m.

I decided on a new plan, I’d cover the Allen West event, make my call into WROL Boston for my weekly bot on Out With Joe after I left on the road to New­bury­port and then cover the event get­ting there a lit­tle late.

So after Mass still wear­ing a suit I headed for Lex­ing­ton. Although I’ve been to Con­cord Bridge many times I had only dri­ven by Lex­ing­ton green on rare occa­sions and never stopped. So I parked the car at the green at about 9:50 and took a few shots

I noted the old­est mon­u­ment, dated 1799, seemed to be on a mound.

I was sur­prised to find out those who died in the bat­tle were re-​burried there more than a half cen­tury after the fact.

and even more sur­prised to find the mon­u­ment to the ships named Lex­ing­ton behind the Tavern

Slowly peo­ple started show­ing up, as it got nearly to 11 I was sur­prised how few, until I was told that the time had been changed to 12:00

So I waited

Took some pictures

and waited more

While wait­ing I inter­viewed one of the men waiting

and then a Tomi Olsen a GOP can­di­date anx­ious in Mid­dle­sex 24

Mean­while the crowd kept grow­ing and grow­ing I had counted over 150 when I stopped.

After 3 hours I was get­ting REALLY hot I finally took my suit coat off and put my lap­top in the car and New­bury­port was off the menu, I was talk­ing to the police Sgt on Duty as the crowd con­tin­ued to grow to over 150. I was in the mid­dle of an excel­lent con­ver­sa­tion with a Lex­ing­ton police Sgt when he pointed to the green and there was Con­gress­man west

He was not tak­ing ques­tions but he had plenty of time for the people

Although he had a 2^nd event wait­ing he con­tin­ued to give time

and more time

Even though it was very hot

and the line of peo­ple never seemed to stop

Until it was finally time to go but lucky for him there was an Ice Cream Truck Nearby

and as he left I talked to Mo the Ice Cream man who served him

The Take away thoughts

1. In Mass­a­chu­setts an unpub­lished appear­ance by Allen West can draw 5x the num­ber of peo­ple as a planned rally pro­moted nation­ally by the left on a Fri­day night just out­side of Boston.

2. 30 peo­ple mak­ing noise is worth two media trucks to the Boston MSM but 150 – 200 on Lex­ing­ton Green to see Allen West is not a story worth cov­er­age beyond a blog­ger with a radio show on WCRN.

3. The left tar­get­ing of Allen West has shaken him up so much that he can travel 9 states to the north to visit Mass­a­chu­setts while Democ­rats are being advised to stay in their own dis­tricts by their leaders.

4. If the GOP is going on offense in Mass­a­chu­setts this elec­tion is going to be an unmit­i­gated dis­as­ter for the left.
