As you might know I’m an early riser. As I churn out my posts for the day I frequently check Memeorandum as per Rule 3

I kept my eye open till I left the house and found something very interesting there, or rather something very interesting that Wasn’t there. Can you guess (the answer is below the jump)

in terms of: If they don’t believe in what the church teaches, why don’t they just leave or become the protestants, or atheists, or modernists they apparently are?

The first thought is because they would lose the structures of the church in terms of financial etc (that’s where the fax machine is) but he hits on the real reason beyond that:

Sed contra! At one point Sr. Joan was at one point asked, according to the linked article, “whether women religious should live outside formal church structures.”

In summary, it looks to me as if these women really don’t want to be women religious in any sense that Holy Church recognizes. However, they are afraid to quit because the instant they do, they will be irrelevant.emphasis mine

Hey various religious denominations that believe various things are a dime a dozen and can’t buy press to save their lives. But nuns CATHOLIC nuns supposedly within the church going after the Church that the media hate above all others. THAT will get you Christine Amanpour at CNN every time.

and really that’s what it’s all about.

As I’ve said many times, there is a REASON why Pride is the 1st of the deadly sins.

During my visit to the American Products Store last week I saw a lot of various American Made products from Toys

To Crafts

To Beauty products

Glassware

And the good old fashioned Slinky

But the oddest and coolest thing I’ve seen at the American Products store are clothes made out of Bamboo (yea you read that right)

Maybe I’m just old but I think that’s cool.

Remember you can shop at the American Products store online here and if you ARE the manufacturer of products in America remember this:

And if YOU are a craftsperson, manufacturer or service provider creating your product in the US, visit their website to fill out an application to display your product at the upcoming American Arts/Crafts and Services Shows. The Shows will run 2 Saturdays a month starting September 8th through October 20.

Details are at the site OnlymadeintheUSA.com

Make sure you have a spot at that show.

Speaking of American made products DaTechGuy Fundraiser is still in progress, The content here is American Made and the 15 year old car I hope to get so I one again have wheels is also American made so once you are done shopping online at the American products store, you can support American made blogging.

This Morning on Morning Joe they are quoting NYT/CBS polls concerning swing states. The claim is that Romney is trailing in Wisconsin & Va but ahead in Colorado.

Hearing the report I went straight to the story at the times and looked for the crosstabs.

They weren’t there.

Then I went to the “how the polls were conducted” page. They had a link to NY Times polls and clicked there next.

There are a lot of charts and a lot of fancy graphics, and even a video or two. It sure looks pretty.

What isn’t there is the following

The Democrat vs GOP split on the polls

The Split of how the voters polled voted in 2008

or if it’s there it’s hiding REALLY good.

We’ve already seen polls skewed farther and farther in order to show the president keeping pace with Mitt Romney, now apparently we’ve reached the point where we either are not going to put up the cross tabs (at worst) or at best will wait until after the morning shows so the narrative is established before cross tabs are there.

If your goal is to advance the president’s campaign, this is a smart move, but if you as a “news” organization have a goal of informing the public then it’s BS.

Dick Morris (who I usually don’t have a lot of time for) put it well:

The media is trying to create a sense of momentum and inevitability about the Obama candidacy. One benighted Newsweek reporter even speculated about a possible Democratic landslide.

On Friday, I saw the real numbers. These state-by-state polls, taken by an organization I trust (after 40 years of polling), show the real story. The tally is based on more than 600 likely-voter interviews in each swing state within the past eight days.

The trend line is distinctly pro-Romney.

In 2010 it wasn’t until the failure of the John Stewart Rally the weekend before the election that the media decided to report on what was actually going on.

It’s been my opinion they will be forced to do otherwise before that, but if we’ve reached the point where they are hiding or delaying cross tabs on Aug 8th God knows what they will be doing in October.

Bottom line, they assume you are idiots.

Update: A new page but still no overall breakdowns. I wonder why?

DaTechGuy Fundraiser is still in progress, it’s been flat the last few days. I should be getting a quote on that car this week (if it’s lower than I expect I’ll lower my goal accordingly) If you think this blog and coverage is worth your time and money I’d appreciate your support.
