Christmas, what's Christmas says Catholic Parishes?

Rev­e­la­tion 3:14 – 19

Today I went to the 8 a.m. Mass so I could watch the Sun­day shows, it was a pretty good ser­mon on Love of God and Neigh­bor but when I was leav­ing church and saw the Church Bul­letin I found myself upset at the sec­ond page

You’ll note that the Boxed event at my parish St. Anthony di Padua is our Coun­try Christ­mas Fair on Novem­ber 17^th, but we also have announce­ments from three other Catholic Parishes.

St. Cecilia is hav­ing a “Hol­i­day” fair

Immac­u­late Heart of Mary is their “Annual fall festival”

St. Joseph is hav­ing their “Hol­i­day Fes­ti­val & Craft fair”

Hol­i­day? What hol­i­day? Flag Day? Chi­nese New Year? Yom Kippur?

I’m very proud that my parish did not join in this nonsense.

These are Catholic Churches for God’s sake, this is the same thing that drove me nuts about Anna Maria Col­lege and their “Hol­i­day” con­cert. Either we are Catholic or we are not. If our own Catholics are not will­ing to say the word “Christ­mas” dur­ing their own events. If we are not respect­ing Christ­mas then why should we expect any­one else to?

Either your faith means some­thing or it does not.
