“..For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”

John 18:37b-38a

As I’ve been watching the news closely I’ve noticed a common thread in the behavior of the left. and those who support them involving the rejection of Truth. This is the first of a series of posts along these lines:

Clueless Bloomberg on Sandy 911 Chaos: “The technology functioned perfectly”
Posted by Jammie on Nov 20, 2012 at 7:52 am

The most out of touch man on the planet again shoves both feet in his mouth. Has there ever been a moment when he didn’t, just out of guilt, admit the failure of something under his command?

Mind you that same Morning Joe talked about how wonderful Bloomberg/Obama did during Sandy before the election yet today Mika was tweeting about photos of the still existing disaster three weeks later. One of Glenn’s readers put it thus:

“It’s not cluelessness or incompetence; it’s the Big Lie…and it is now pervasive in our government and media. They know the failings full well. They’ve just decided it’s easier to whitewash/ignore them than do anything serious about them. Besides, working on real problems would take resources away from the ‘transforming America’ agenda.”

This Jibes with a story in the Leominster Champion that got no coverage of local good Samaritan Ginny White trip to NY to help:

She ended up being sent to The Rockaways, where FEMA and American Red Cross were accepting donations.

“The Friends of the Firefighters set up for me to go and drop of donations from our City of Angels. When we got there, the Good Samartians got there first and loaded up the fire station. The firefighters were so grateful, they took a few skids of juice and such, then sent us about a mile away to where the Red Cross was set up in a parking lot,” a very upset White began.

OK a good start but when she finally found the Red Cross

“We pulled in with our truck, and after getting a run around from FEMA and the red cross, a woman finally came to my truck and asked what we had.”

Ginny opened the back of the truck and the reed cross woman went in and started ripping open bags and bins, according to White.

“She looked at me and said ,”we don’t take this stuff, putting her hand up in the air, and walked away,”

Ginny as anyone in the Fitchburg Leominster area knows tirelessly works for the poor was not amused.

“I went behind her and said “wait a minute, I was told to come here and help people,” Ginny said.

She said she was quite upset over the turn of events. Ms. White continued, “while we were there, a victim came up to me and asked if we had any blankets as she needed one. I told her I had new and used, and she said she would take a used one. I went to hand her a blanket, and four red cross people came over and told her I could not give this lady a blanket,” she said.

As it ended up, Ginny snuck the blanket and a box of food to the woman.

“I could not believe they would not let me give away what we brought,” a distraught White said.

But we can’t blame the Red Cross, it’s policy:

Dawn Leaks, regional director of communications with the Red Cross said it is policy that the agency does not accept bulk donations for disaster relief.

“We work with partner agencies such as Salvation Army and Catholic Charities who do that,” Ms. leaks said.

According to Red Cross policy, only cash donations are accepted.

Ms. Leaks said it is an unfortunate situation that Ms. White was turned away, but it is policy, and that is just how it works.

But wait, I thought we were cutting through red tape to help these people, that’s what the media, the left and the President Said.

There is nobody that I’ve heard of who spends more time and effort on the needs of the poor and Hungry, now Ginny is totally turned off on the Red Cross.

If George Bush was in office Ginny White would be on every TV network but this is the time of the Big Lie.

The Big Lie, it’s all about not telling the truth or “speaking truth to power” but about pushing a meme and if some people are without blankets that’s just the way it is. More on that tomorrow.

…Then Kevin Clash would have a job today

Kevin Clash, the longtime voice and puppeteer behind Sesame Street’s Elmo character, has resigned in the aftermath of allegations that he had underage sexual relationships.

Mr. Clash was first accused last week of sexual improprieties by a 24-year-old man who later recanted. That man has remained anonymous.

On Tuesday, the gossip Web site TMZ reported that a second accuser, Cecil Singleton, has now filed a lawsuit in New York alleging that he had an underage sexual relationship with Mr. Clash almost a decade ago. The report could not immediately be verified.

Unquestionably the underlying cause is the ban on marriage and the celibacy requirement on Sesame Street and at the Children’s Television Workshop but what fascinates me about this story, which I ignored till now, are the comments at the times:

Most of the attention is given to Kevin Clash, his now known sexual orientation, and the presumed impact of all of this on Sesame Street and its viewers. What is lost in this melee is the fact that the accuser recanted. I am curious why somebody would come up with this charge after this many years only to recant. Was he paid off? Was he lying? There is so much more unknown.

at Gawker more comments:

nothing jogs the memory quite like a mountain of cash.
“oh yeah…yeah! *NOW* I remember that thing that totally happened…”

At Towleroad news gay

“That’s what happens when you start paying blackmailers. The last guy was completely credible with his history of theft accusations and arrests. Maybe this one will be more believable but I doubt it. Posted by: Timzilla | Nov 20, 2012 12:08:45 PM

At TMZ more

People who do this kind of stuff for money makes me sick.

1st, You are not supposed to be underage when you call a sex chat line. what did the 15 yr old expect? everyone he talks to is going to be 15 too? lol
2nd.. he waited 20 years to tell someone?
3rd… he said he didn’t know he was psychological damaged by it until he saw it in the news? ohhh so he saw it in the news and he woke up the next day suddenly damaged?
This dude should be named and shamed. Disgusting for trying to milk someone for money!

And at Mediaite one more

This is rather unfortunate. Mostly that being gay is something people still find shocking or distracting or wrong. And screw that anonymous guy for lying about all this. What was the point? 5 minutes of fame?

Apparently unless the person is a Catholic Priest such claims are purely motivated by money or fame and something has to be done about such accusers.

I submit and suggest that if Kevin Clash was a clergyman these same folks would be out for blood and decrying the Church as an institution.

Exit Question: Clash has been with Sesame Street for a long time , The media has assumed and critics have said the Vatican off in Rome knew about the (legitimate) scandal of priests and swept it under the rug.

Assuming the truth of these accusations I wonder how many of those people who have worked directly with clash for decades as opposed to overseeing him from half a world away knew of his age “preferences” for partners and looked the other way? More importantly will anybody ask those questions as these co-workers, managers and fellow actors are not wearing Roman Collars?

Anna: Better to kill one man in front of millions than thousands in a war far away

Jon Sable Freelance # 18 1984

There is one aspect of Israel’s operation to suppress Hamas’ rockets into the country that is being totally ignored by everyone.

No I’m not talking about the few pro-Israel protests around the western world or some of the outrageous things pro-Hamas protesters are saying.

I’m talking about Assad’s Syria.

Assad has been killing more Arabs on purpose on a daily basis that Israel has killed accidentally over the course of Pillar of Defense but in the same way the US media tends to ignore black on black violence the media and the Arab world doesn’t like to talk about that.

And while Syrian Rebels squabble:

The main Islamist rebel groups in Aleppo, a key front line in Syria’s civil war, on Monday rejected the newly formed opposition bloc, saying they want an Islamic state, as clashes raged countrywide.

“We, the fighting squads of Aleppo city and province, unanimously reject the conspiratorial project called the National Coalition and announce our consensus to establish an Islamic state” in Syria, a spokesman announced in an Internet video.

“We reject any external coalitions or councils imposed on us at home from any party whatsoever,” he said.

…and Iran continues to build pipelines to Syria Assad gets the chance of his lifetime.

The best hope he has for crushing the rebellion is while the rest of the world is looking elsewhere and as long as Israel is preparing to go into Gaza, the world;s press will keep looking south.

It’s an odd thing to put yourself in the mind of a murderous dictator but If I’m Assad, I put everything in readiness and I wait and watch.

Within 4 hours of Israel going into Gaza I do two things at once.

1.  Issue a strong statement condemning it and vow that Syria will not stand for it.

2.  Unleash my chemical arsenal on the rebels

and four hours after I do #2

3. Release the claim through Syrian & Iranian operatives throughout the Arab world that Israel hit Syria with Chemical Weapons to prevent intervention that they knew was coming.

This simultaneously puts both Israel and the Arab world on the spot.  Israel will no doubt deny it and given any level of time can disprove it, but it doesn’t matter. There will be a large media pool that will automatically disbelieve them.

Even if they report the truth how likely is a public that they have fed myths of Israeli atrocities to for years going to suddenly think it didn’t happen?

Once the meme is released the left in general and the Arab world (other than those being slaughtered) will at best believe it, or at worst publicly act as if they do.

Don’t believe me?  Check out what Arabs believe from this passage from the  Seattle Times:

“We are all against Israel,” said Adel Mohammed, 35, a music teacher who was chaperoning a squealing school group during a visit to the October War Panorama, a large memorial to what is mythologized in Egypt as a decisive victory over Israel in a 1973 conflict also known as the Yom Kippur War.

Decisive victory? Yes you read that right.  It continues.

Inside the October War Panorama, whose grounds display Egyptian fighter jets and captured Israeli tanks, a narrator reads a triumphal account of the attack against Israel that started the 1973 war. That conflict ended with a cease-fire, Israel retaining control of most of the Sinai Peninsula, and both Egypt and Israel capturing each other’s territory.

The highlight of the exhibition is a diorama and 360-degree mural of a battle in which Egyptian forces overtook Israeli troops near the Suez Canal.

Mind you even using the most charitable sources, the Arabs lost

  • Triple the dead
  • Double the wounded
  • Triple the planes
  • 5 to 6 times the tanks
  • 19 ships sunk vs 0 for Israel
  • and nearly 30 times as many captured prisoners.

In fact if it wasn’t for the cease fire coming when it did the entire Egyptian 3rd army might have been destroyed utterly, yet 40 years after that slaughter the Arab people still believe in the myth of Egypt’s victory just as 10 years after 9/11 many still believe Israel did it.

Trust me people who will buy this stuff will jump on the “Israel Chemical Weapons” story and repeat it to their children.

There are risks, the troops might refuse or the stuff could be captured and there is also the chance Israel might actually jump in to make sure none of the stuff is captured by the rebels but vs the likely fall from power I bet Assad will jump at the chance.

And you won’t hear a thing about it. Remember 10,000 Dead Arabs killed by Syria are not as newsworthy as 1 Arab killed by Israel.

Update: Assad might not get his chance

Speaking to reporters Tuesday in the Nile Delta city of Zagazig, Morsi did not provide any evidence to support his prediction that an end to Israel’s weeklong offensive against Gaza is imminent. He only said negotiations between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers will yield “positive results” during the coming hours without elaborating.

Every day that this goes on and Egypt does nothing to aid Hamas, they lose face in the Arab world no matter what the feelings of their own people against war at this time but as Jeffery Goldberg points out (via hotair) for Hamas there is no percentage in peace for them.

Hamas’s strategy in this latest conflict makes perfect sense. Hamas, which is the Palestine branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, is theologically committed to the obliteration of Israel and believes, as a matter of faith, that Jews are Allah’s enemies. Its leaders have believed, since the group’s inception, that Jews are soft (“We love death and they love life,” a Hamas leader once told me, and it is a commonly expressed thought). Hamas also believes that eventually misery and fear will drive most Jews to leave Israel, which it views as a Muslim waqf, or endowment, not merely the rightful home of the Palestinian people.

That is really the key to it all.
