Readability....Meanwhile More Planes for Egypt
While the west continues to decide just how much aid to give to the Syrian Islamists in their fight against Assad another group of Arabs in the middle east is not having as easy a time:
Thousands of opponents and supporters of Egypt’s Islamist president were flocking to key locations in the nation’s capital ahead of rival mass rallies Tuesday, four days before a nationwide referendum on a contentious draft constitution.
The protesters were beginning to gather just hours after masked assailants set upon opposition protesters staging a sit-in at Tahrir Square, firing birdshot and swinging knives and sticks, according to security officials. At least 11 protesters were wounded in the pre-dawn attack, according to a Health Ministry spokesman quoted by the official MENA news agency.
This is in response to Morsi taking dictatorial powers on Thanksgiving day as we’ve been talking about for a bit.
Well in Syria the west is preparing to provide Naval & AirPower to the rebels, so I’m sure we’ll see something comparable in Egypt for those fighting for their future against the Muslim Brotherhood right
Instability in Egypt, where a newly-elected Islamic government teeters over an angry population, isn’t enough to stop the U.S. from sending more than 20 F-16 fighter jets, as part of a $1 billion foreign aid package.
And mind you this isn’t Turkey & England in 1914 when Turkey paid for warships than England confiscated for their own navy after payment, this these are Jets purchased by US Taxpayers being delivered to the Muslim Brotherhood government while they face a people’s protest against a power grab.
It’s a government that even the NYT is writing about in this way:
Islamist supporters of President Mohamed Morsi captured, detained and beat dozens of his political opponents last week, holding them for hours with their hands bound on the pavement outside the presidential palace while pressuring them to confess that they had accepted money to use violence in protests against him.

The opposition has called for a major demonstration it hopes will force Mursi to postpone a referendum on a new constitution.
Am I the only one who finds it odd that we are so willing to support the Islamists but not those who oppose them, particularly since the opponents of the Islamists in Egypt aren’t asking for weapons?
