Where does Lunenburg go to get it’s Reputation back?

It’s amazing the difference a few weeks has made in the City of Lunenburg:

Was it only a few weeks ago that we learned how racist the Town of Lunenburg in general and the football team in particular? That the football team in was responsible for painting:  “Knights don’t need niggers” on the house of a bi-racial family with a young and very talented football player on the team who was subject to a spate of bullying?

Didn’t we have editorials decry the racism of the town, didn’t the governor weigh in, weren’t commentators talking all about this.

Didn’t Good Morning America weigh in?

Breaking News from ABC
|
ABC Sports News

and compare it to the Miami Dolphens scandal?

The Lunenburg story has echoes of the rookie hazing scandal that has enveloped the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

Veteran Richie Incognito was suspended indefinitely on Nov. 4 after rookie Jonathan Martin turned in voice mails and text messages that allegedly showed Incognito using the N-word to describe Martin and threaten his family, according to ESPN.

The controversy came to light after Fox Sports reported that Martin and other rookies had been forced to pay thousands of dollars for dinner tabs and vacations for more veteran members of the team.

And didn’t the Lunenburg Football team forfeit the rest of the games and have their traditional Thanksgiving game cancelled?

Well that was only fair, after all you can’t let racism like that stand. As far as all right thinking people were concerned they had it coming….

…what a difference a few weeks and an actual investigation makes.

First the Football team is cleared:

Police in Lunenburg, Mass. say high school football players were not responsible for racist graffiti found on the side of a junior varsity player’s home.

So with the football team cleared, the question remains: Who is responsible for the racist graffiti sprayed on the home?

And the parents who had plenty to say before …

Chief Jim Marino said the Phillips parents are not talking to police anymore.

…are now singing a different tune:

Anthony Phillips returned to the end of his driveway to wait for his children to get off the school bus. Asked about rumors that he might have been involved in the incident, Phillips replied, “That just shows you how racist this town is.”

And Today the worm turned…big time:

The Boston Globe:

Police search Lunenburg home where graffiti found

Police focus turns toward victim’s mother in Lunenburg racist graffiti case

The Worcester Telegram and Gazette:

Search warrant issued at Lunenburg home where racist graffiti was reported

The Lowell Sun

Investigators focusing on mother of Lunenburg graffiti victim

And the Sentinel & Enterprise :

Investigators are focusing on the mother of a Lunenburg teen whose home was spray painted with racist graffiti last month, according to court documents.

Former Lunenburg High School football player Isaac Phillips’ mother Andrea Brazier, replied “OK” when an FBI agent suggested she was the one who spray painted graffiti on the house, according to an affidavit.

The Sentinel has been all over this story from day one.

Now that the case has gone the full circle from outrage confirming liberal prejudices to yet another race hoax it’s time for the question to be asked

Where does the town of Lunenburg go to get their reputation back, where does the football team go to get their Thanksgiving game back and who pays for all the police, local state and federal that were used in the attempt to sell this BS?

And will the sites in AtlantaMetro USThe UK Daily MailSports IllustratedFox Chicago and the Huffington Post be reporting on these new developments with the same gusto?

Update: Stacy McCain links (sorry I hit the sack early last night and had the PC off) and he knows something (Bill Sparkman) about hoaxes

Ruh-roh. If she lied to the FBI, she could be in big trouble. But since when is it the FBI’s job to investigate racist graffiti? And if real racist graffiti is a federal offense, what is fake racist graffiti? The alleged hate crime was a big deal last month:

Two quick thoughts:

1. It really boggles the mind that someone would be willing to tar a group of teenagers, their families, a school and really an entire Town for the sake of a personal agenda. That degree of selfishness is incredible in its narcissistic depth.

2. If it turns out that the mother is the culprit she has done more damage to her son and her marriage than any amount of teaching or racist words could have done. And it will follow her son for years. How does a parent not realize that?

Update 2:  Michael Graham reports Lunenburg school folks haven’t learned much:

Now, with egg splattered all over their faces, the Lunenburg administrators STILL INSIST they did the right thing!

“I never looked at the cancellations as punishment, although it was certainly viewed that way by many. In the end, the safety of students and attendees at the games was deemed as of paramount importance. At no time did I or any employee of the schools indict or implicate players,” said Lunenburg Superintendent of Schools Loxi Jo Calmes.

Lunenburg’s superintendent and high school principal defended the decision to cancel the rest of the football season amid allegations against the players of writing racist graffiti.

“I thought would I have brought my own kids to that game? And the answer is no way. Why? Because it wasn’t safe to play,” Principal Brian Spadafino said.

The Lunenburg high football game “wasn’t safe?” From what–marauding bands of spray-painters?  Hordes of KKK members?

I think the next batch of town elections in Lunenburg are going to be very interesting.

Update 3:
 Ace finds the story.

Update 4: Liberty Unyielding notes that all “hate graffiti” is created equal in media eyes:

As an important aside on an unrelated case, about 50 miles away from Lunenburg High, Masslive.com revealed yesterday that three teens were in custody “in connection with 13 incidents in October and November where homes, churches and cars were either vandalized or set on fire.”

The article reads in part,

“Symbols, slurs, sexually explicit images and, in the case of United Church of Ware, an expletive directed at God and the words “Catholic burning,” were spray-painted…” [added emphasis]

This author can find no other mention in any other source of the anti-Catholic slur. Is the FBI involved in that case? Will this anti-Catholic incident be investigated as a “hate crime?”

I guess some targets of hate are more equal than others.

Principled NYC Liberalism Bloomberg Years Edition

For all his riches, Bill Gates could not approach the typical American and say, “Here’s a $100 bill. I’ll give it to you if you kiss my feet.” Most likely the person would tell Gates to go to hell! The American view is that the rich guy may have more money, but he isn’t in any fundamental sense better than anyone else.

Albert F Chestone  What America Means to Me  2009

No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 6:24

One of the great moments of the last 15 years came from NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani

Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Thursday the city would not accept a $10 million donation for disaster relief from Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal after the prince suggested U.S. policies in the Middle East contributed to the September 11 attacks.

It was a an affirmation that at least in NYC under Rudy, America and its principles were not for sale at any price.

Rudy was followed by Michael Bloomberg.  As a Billionaire any amount of money proffered to influence him was going to as successful as expecting Sydney Greenstreet to dance for a Diet Coke.

But now that the Bloomberg era is about to end Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith reports during his tenure money still had an effect but not in the way it normally would:

In Mike Bloomberg’s New York, the mayor bribed you, buying the silence or cooperation of individuals, cultural organizations, and social service groups with hundreds in millions of dollars spent on small personal favors — a legal payment here, a medical procedure there — and charitable contributions.

While Mr. Bloomberg’s name is not the least bit Italian Professor Doug Muzzio describes the Mayor’s use of fund in terms normally associated in culture with the combination of vowels in his predecessor’s surname and my own saying it…

…was protection money. In many ways it inoculated him from potential criticism and stimulated people to do things that they might not have or shouldn’t have done

The article points not only to millions upon millions given to various groups but the potential of millions in the years after his departure from office that might be at stake

Well it’s an easy sell to a conservative like me and maybe even to a few liberals that $100,000+ might by off an Al Sharpton but any liberal will tell you,  unlike conservatives or Tea Party members who supposedly jump at the sound of a Koch brother’s check,  the liberals who faced off against Rudy Giuliani and those honorable non-profits weren’t going to just keep quiet over money right Patrick Markee?

Lots of not-for-profit groups that work in the field were quiet and sat on the sidelines while this was happening, and didn’t speak up publicly, and then public records kind of indicated that a lot of those groups that received large personal donations from the mayor

Given the amount of government money that invariably goes to liberal NGO’s and those who support the left’s agenda this is almost respectable in the sense that at least these liberals are being bought by a person who actually earned the money distributed unlike say the Obamacare navigators, but I hope this is remembered the next time we hear the MSM myth of the noble leftists and non profits speaking truth to power.

It’s Wednesday and DaTipJar is at $67. That’s 19.7% out of the goal of $340 needed to pay the Mortgage and the Magnificent Seven and it’s very plain that I won’t be seeing any funds from Michael Bloomberg. While such a gift from him would be accepted like any other tip jar hit it’s not going to change the opinions or the expressions of this site opinion.

The vast majority of the tip jar hits here are $10 or $20. Fourteen more of those $20 hits will be enough to make the first week of the Magnificent Seven a success.

The Huma Muruna?

I asked for an Explanation for Huma & the Silence of the Muslims on her situation.

And Godfather Politics gives an answer:

I believe the answer can be found in a Muslim word ‘Muruna’. There are times when Muslim leadership believe it is more important to plant a spy to gain valuable information than it is for that spy to follow all Muslim law. It is not uncommon for Muslim leadership to push a woman into a relationship with a non-Muslim in order to gain the confidence and trust of an infidel. Once that trust has been gained, the Muslim woman can begin to exert some influence into the dealings of her husband and in the process learn important secrets that she can pass on to her Muslim handlers back home.

I believe Huma Abedin is a Muruna and that her marriage to the Rep. Anthony Weiner was planned and sanctioned by the Muslim Brotherhood. At the time, Weiner had high expectations of furthering his political career, possibly a run for senate seat once held by Hillary Clinton or even higher. Having a husband in the US Congress would be a great asset to the Muslim Brotherhood.

and the Western Center for Journalism give the list of moves

Arif Alikhan – Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
-Mohammed Elibiary – Homeland Security Adviser
-Rashad Hussain – Special Envoy to the (OIC) Organization of the Islamic Conference
-Salam al-Marayati – Obama Adviser – founder Muslim Public Affairs Council and its current executive director
-Imam Mohamed Magid – Obama’s Sharia Czar – Islamic Society of North America
-Eboo Patel – Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships

Some of these radical Muslim sympathizers go back to the first month of BHO’s first administration.

I think this is a reasonable explanation. If anyone has a better one I’d be delighted to hear it

Doctor Who: The Face of Evil Pt 1 1977

Yesterday I posted some questions about the funding of Anthony Weiner, It’s possible that some might have considered that post rather provocative.

If you are such a person you might want to stop reading right now because this one touches on a REALLY delicate matter:

Yesterday morning I got into a long twitter discussion with a person who goes by the name woman by the name Maxine Baptiste known as BrownSugar7878. She took exception to this tweet concerning Mr. Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin reaction to the latest twist to the scandal

Now that’s an incredibly provocative statement and I had a long twitter exchange with MS Baptiste where I explained why I thought this could be the case while she called me a racist used a tag that I’m not familiar with that I won’t repeat here.

But here is where I’m coming from.

One of the most amazing stories about Anthony Weiner is his marriage to Huma Abideen. They met in 2008 got engaged in 2009 and the very next year were married.

Now it’s not all that unusual for a much younger woman to marry an older man who has power and involved in politics. As a person who has spent her adult life under Hillary Clinton’s wing Ms Abideen might certainly see the advantage of a marriage to an up and coming pol while she as a friend of Ms. Clinton would certainly be a good power match for Anthony Weiner.

But before the political calculation, think of who she is and who her parents are.

Her mother is Saleha Mahmood Abedin she is one of the founding members of the women’s version of the Muslim Brotherhood her father was an Islamic scholar and according to Wikipedia moved with her to Saudi Arabia when she was two years old and didn’t return until she entered college. Shortly afterward leaving college she attached herself to Hillary Clinton and never left.

By an odd coincidence Hillary Clinton was the most pro-Muslim brotherhood secretary of state in my lifetime. As Andrew McCarthy wrote a year ago this month:

Nevertheless, since Secretary Clinton’s tenure began, with Huma Abedin serving as a top adviser, the United States has aligned itself with the Muslim Brotherhood in myriad ways. To name just a few (the list is by no means exhaustive): Our government reversed the policy against formal contacts with the Brotherhood; funded Hamas; continued funding Egypt even after the Brotherhood won the elections; dropped an investigation of Brotherhood organizations in the U.S. that were previously identified as co-conspirators in the case of the Holy Land Foundation financing Hamas; hosted Brotherhood delegations in the United States; issued a visa to a member of the Islamic Group (a designated terrorist organization) and hosted him in Washington because he is part of the Brotherhood’s parliamentary coalition in Egypt; announced that Israel should go back to its indefensible 1967 borders; excluded Israel, the world’s leading target of terrorism, from a counterterrorism forum in which the State Department sought to “partner” with Islamist governments that do not regard attacks on Israel as terrorism; and pressured Egypt’s pro-American military government to surrender power to the anti-American Muslim Brotherhood parliament and president just elected by Egypt’s predominantly anti-American population.

So you have a woman who is the top adviser of the most Muslim Brotherhood friendly Secretary of State in the country’s history. A woman who was raised in Saudi Arabia, till college by two Islamic Scholar parents, one of whom is a founder member of the woman’s version of the Muslim Brotherhood.

So naturally she marries a prominent Jew, and not just a Prominent Jew but a prominent Jew known for his strong pro-israel positions.

Excuse me?

I like Shakespeare as much as the next man, and I really enjoyed Romeo and Juliet but the Capulets and the Montagues are bosom buddies compared to the Muslims and Jews.

Now I will grant you that in one direction the prejudice is less pronounced for a Jew marrying a Muslim woman and Huma Abideen would turn any man’s head (in fact it’s my opinion that not counting Italy, Arabia & Persia produce the most beautiful women in the world) so I certainly wouldn’t be surprised at Mr. Weiner’s pursuit of this woman a dozen years his junior Muslim or no.

But Huma marrying Anthony Weiner? The daughter of a founder of the Muslim Brotherhood woman’s auxiliary marries a Jew in a high-profile wedding and nobody finds this even a little odd?

Now as a Christian and an American I of course, don’t see an issue with this marriage. Maybe love has trumped religion for her too, Maybe Huma is head over heels in love with Anthony Weiner and that’s all there is to it, you can never tell.

And as for her sticking with him, and as an old married man trying to make a living on $305 a week from my readers I’m constantly amazed that my wife has been married to me for 25 years and is sill here. Anyone who has seen her and me together likely are just as amazed. Of course we’re Catholic and thus believe that Marriage is a sacrament. Maybe Huma while not Catholic considered marriage just as sacred and has decided to stick with him for better or for worse. Or maybe she as Mrs. Clinton’s aide for nearly 20 years saw that standing by your man can lead to a senate seat and a cabinet post.

But this still doesn’t answer one other question, what about the reaction back home? What about her family, her extended family, in the Arab world?

After all we know associating with Jews at all is likely to get a Muslim killed or disowned by their family so where is the reaction when a daughter of two prominent Muslim Scholars marries a Jew who is publicly extremely pro-Israel? What are we hearing from those same Muslims who objected to Pokemon because they thought it was a Jewish conspiracy?

Silence!

Walid Shoebat asks the obvious question:

Huma’s links to a family that is directly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, including her brother and mother, creates a question that no one on earth can easily answer:

Other than Huma Abedin, has there ever been any member of the Muslim Brotherhood or a prominent Islamist who will not openly denounce a “daughter” or “sister” that married a non-Muslim Jewish male?

It is extremely rare to have Muslim women marry non-Muslims, much less to have conservative Muslims look the other way, unless Huma has a “higher calling”

Now in fairness there have been signs that Congressman Weiner’s support of Israel is not all people think it might be. (Weiner doesn’t really care that much about Israel.) but unless he has converted to Islam and not told anybody or something the same folks who were quick to put a Fatwa on Molly Norris over a drawing are not likely to keep their mouths shut on this.

And we aren’t just talking silence at the time of the wedding. What about with the scandal? This sentence is absolutely true

Huma Abideen, a Muslim woman, a daughter of prominent Muslim scholars was publicly humiliated on a world-wide stage by a Jewish man acting in vulgar sexual ways.

and STILL there is no reaction. Not from Saudi Arabia, not from Iran and not from the Muslim Brotherhood that just a few weeks ago trying to discreet the intern president of Egypt referred to him a Jew.

Is there nobody else who finds this as unbelievable as I do?

If Islamists were silent at Huma Abideen wedding to Anthony Weiner, were silent as he humiliated this high-profile Muslim woman and remain silent today as he humiliates her again, one must conclude that these suddenly quiet and calm Islamists figure their investment in this silence will pay quite a return.

I wonder what it might be?

Update: Andrew McCarthy doesn’t

Update 2:  Funny the NY Times report some women have the same kind of questions about Huma Abideen’s loyalty to her husband.

A question Worth Asking on Anthony Weiner

Today at his site Stacy McCain mentioned the connection between the downfall of Anthony Weiner and issue that several bloggers who were involved in the same had:

I’ve got a particular interest in the question of who ID’d Sydney Leathers because, for months, Ladd Ehlinger Jr. has entertained the possibility that the harassment of Brett Kimberlin’s enemies was somehow being funded by supporters of Anthony Weiner.

Wondering if ANYONE will ask #CarlosDanger who he hired to harass and cyberstalk people who wrote about his original cybersexing scandal.

— Film Ladd (@FilmLadd) July 23, 2013

Speculation isn’t my business, but when you observe extraordinary behavior, you can’t preemptively rule out extraordinary motives.

While who is paying Team Kimberlin is an interesting question I think a more interesting question is this:

What donors have chosen to invest in Anthony Weiner and his future?

To answer that question you have to look Where Anthony Weiner one was

Before his fall Anthony Weiner was the perfect man for this type of donor. A man to watch he was an ultra liberal on almost every issue, he was a man who not only went the full Obama but was a fighter, a man to watch. You couldn’t miss him on TV constantly debating and defending the president and all he believed inHe rose through NH politics protege of Chuck Schumer and in 2009 the world seems to be his oyster.

At least until he crashed.

Now lets consider political donors there are really four kinds of them:

1. The True BelieversThey believe in a cause or a person so deeply that they are willing to invest their money in them. These are the people that are constantly getting calls and the e-mail from the various parties. (a lot of small donors fit that description).

Before the fall: He wold be a natural for their money and adoration, the Obama/Liberal point man.

After the fall: It’s really unlikely that too many of these would stay on board with Anthony Weiner. His lying to their face would chase off the personal givers and the cause bearers could find other candidates who believe the same to give to. Nor would they be likely to finance a campaign of revenge.

2. The Protection Racket: These are the people who give something to both sides as insurance so they’ll just leave them alone when it comes time to regulation and the like.

Before the fall: Weiner would get the dollars for people who wanted to cover themselves with the Obama team

After the fall: These people give to cover themselves, after Weiner’s downfall there would be no incentive to give and such givers would likely wait until after the runoff to hedge their bests, particularly given Weiner’s past.

3. The GroupiesThese are vanity donors. They give so they can say they are involved, so they can talk about how connected they are convince themselves how much they matter. This is a very common animal in the cocktail circuit in the big cities

Before the fall: Weiner as a TV celeb would be a prime materal for this money.

After the fall:How much status can you get at a party by saying “I’m Anthony Weiner’s backer?”

But then there is the 4th type. These are the are the investors. These are the people who have an agenda and decide a particular pol has the talent and ability to advance it. If your cause is particularly shady the willingness to advance said agenda is more critical that the amount of talent.

Before the fall: He would be a prime investment for a person wanting power or influence, a rising star in the party, possible future Mayor of NY with the senior Senator of the state behind him. And if you had a bad or unpopular cause you might sink in a LOT

After the crash it’s different, Remember he didn’t just crash he crashed in disgrace, tried to blame Brietbart for what happened, (Resulting in my NY Post piece & appearance on Fox) He alleged he was hacked and not only was exposed as a liar, but had the ignominy of Andrew Breitbart holding court at his mike before his own press conference could begin

Now it’s certainly possible that Anthony Weiner was so beloved by people who even after his fall groups of people were willing to devote hundreds or thousands of hours to defend him and go after those who were responsible for his fall and it’s not impossible that Congressman Weiner was able to find new investors willing to sustain him and push a his candidacy for Mayor on the off in the hopes that he could overcome the previous embarrassment and scandal and get what would be considered a higher profile position than he held before his fall.

But that would seem unlikely. I’d say it’s much more likely you would need someone with a bad or unpopular cause that’s it’s difficult to find another person willing to go along or a group with such a large or critical investment in Mr. Weiner that it still worthwhile to devote the cash necessary to punish his foes and advance a second rise from the ashes in the hopes of recovering the situation over time.

I wonder who that might be?

The Senate’s Stupak Amendment for the Gang of Eight

On the day of the vote I want to see you in the front row. Keep your eye on the doorkeeper. If I don’t need your vote, Fishbait Miller will give you the sign and you’ll be free to vote your district.”…

…when Leo took his seat in the front row, he looked around and saw thirteen other guys that Sam had in his pocket in case he needed them. It wasn’t just Leo. The entire front row was sitting there and waiting for the nod from Fishbait Miller.

Tip O’Neill Man of the House 1988

Looking at the “Gang of Eight” bill I’m reminded of the last days of Obamacare.

Democrats had a vast majority in the house, more than enough votes to get Obamacare through but as citizens became angrier and angrier at what was coming members of congress understood that not only was the GOP going to give them absolutely no cover but voters were so upset at this bill that a Republican would win a senate election in Massachusetts for the first time since the Nixon years.

Democrats has stalled and stalled but when it became clear that the media was not going to convince any more members of the public and Scott Brown’s election meant nothing else was going to pass the senate she needed a fig leaf to give her some of her members cover.

Thus came the Stupak Amendment and the fig leaf he provided while proving disastrous to him and his followers was a Godsend to others as he said later:

“I had a number of members who thanked us after because they could vote no.”

But Stupak fig leaf would quickly wither. His seat and 62 others for democrats would not survive election day and even more shocking to the left the New GOP majority would remain even after the re-election of President Obama and the popularity of his bill remains so poor that the re-election machine of the president is still running ads to sell it.

Which brings us to Corker-Hoeven.

It’s axiomatic that if this was a good bill, a bill that would solve problems, a bill that would both secure the border AND take care of the problem of millions of illegal aliens, a bill that would make Hispanics happy with pols who passed it not only would the GOP be falling over itself to pass this bill with the democrats but there would be absolutely no chance that any Democrat running in the 21 states they are defending in 2014 would fall away.

The reality is the bill is over 1000 pages of trouble and for all the 70 vote talk each day the bill remains un-passed  voters hate it more and the Danger becomes that even with the 4 GOP members of the gang of 8 + Ayotte voting for it,  Harry Reid will still need every single Democrat to pass this bill, which means, that every Democrat becomes the 60th vote.

This is why Corker-Hoeven is so important, not for the GOP but for Harry Reid. Reid needs every GOP vote possible to allow him to give the senators in those 21 states who haven’t already announced retirement the ability to give a no vote that they can tout in their districts.

“The bill can’t pass as it’s currently written,” one GOP aide told Breitbart News. “They can’t get 60 votes as it’s currently written. The bill has to be amended with not only stronger border security measures but should also include verification that progress is being made on the border before the legalization process begins.”

“If Corker-Hoeven doesn’t pass, then the most likely scenario is that the bill can’t pass,” the source claimed.

Harry Reid has put himself in a box, with all the 70 vote talk if this bill fails it becomes his failure so even if he has to whip every democrat for their vote to get this bill passed he will, but what he really wants is the ability to give 4 to 5 democrats the ability to vote “no” and help preserve them for 2014.

If Corker Hoven passes and brings some republicans with it and the bill still only manages 60 or 62 votes nobody will remember how many democrats voted No, they will only talk about the number of republicans who voted yes, and like the Stupak Amendment if the bill actually becomes law the provision of that Amendment will be finessed until they become meaningless.

We’ve seen this picture before, but what is amazing to me this time is not that some kind of face saving cover is being provided for Harry Reid, what is amazing is that it’s the GOP is the party that is providing it.

Doctor Who The Wedding of River Song 2011

If you’ve read the first three parts of my worries concerning the IRS scandal there is one assumption that might not make sense to you. The left often portrays the Tea Party as a group of violent gun toting thugs, ready to snap into a multi-shot rage at the drop of a hat. A collection of cowboys. That being the case, why on earth would they not fear to provoke such well armed people with  a violent streak?

The answer is very simple. The left may say all these things about the right and violence, but the leaders who spew this stuff know it simply isn’t true. They’ve seen the tea party crowds pick up after themselves, they’ve seen the right to life marches bury the capital in people without an arrest. They saw Glenn Beck events take place with little or no incidents. Even more significantly they’ve seen their own speakers at colleges around the country walk without fear while speakers of the right need massive security to function. This has gone on for years and years and years without a reaction. The left assumes that as long as they don’t strike first at the right they can do what they wish.  It’s reached the point where the very suggestion that the right would fight back is almost quaint.

This forgets a basic fact about the traditional American Culture that the left have abandoned:  Americans take a long time to reach their breaking point but if you keep prodding them they eventually reach it.

Consider:

  • There were decades of problems with England before the colonies finally rebelled and even so only a 1/3 of the supported it.
  • We paid off the Barbary pirates for years before finally deciding Enough!
  • Impressment went on for many years before War was declared on England
  • Ten years passed between the Alamo and the Mexican war
  • The slavery issue boiled for decades before Sumter,
  • Europe fought for 3 years before America jumped into World War I
  •   and if Japan didn’t hit Pearl Harbor FDR would have had a hard time getting the US to declare war on the Nazi’s.
  • Even in modern times,  the 1st gulf war took months before things started.
  • Without September 11th there are no wars in Iraq or Afghanistan and even in Iraq it was a very long build up to war and votes in congress before the bombs started falling.
  • American culture traditionally is like an old Popeye cartoon. It takes hit after hit after hit until finally it exclaims:

Or if you want a more current example one you might understand better. (and current is pretty relative here) consider the Star Trek the Next generation episode: The Most Toys. After kidnapping and imprisonment Data finally gets a chance to escape.

When people read this this

As chairman of the House Homeland Security oversight subcommittee, Duncan (R-S.C.) toured a federal law enforcement facility in late May and noticed agents training with the semi-automatic weapons at a firing range. They identified themselves as IRS, he said. “When I left there, it’s been bugging me for weeks now, why IRS agents are training with a semi-automatic rifle AR-15, which has stand-off capability,” Duncan told POLITICO. “Are Americans that much of a target that you need that kind of capability?”

and this:

A bureaucracy is bad. A politicized bureaucracy is worse. A paramilitary politicized bureaucracy is nuts. And, in fact, evil. There is no reason in a civilized society why the Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Paperwork should have his own Seal Team Six. As I wrote in the magazine last year

and this:

Please note that the story says that the Secret Service acknowledged that there was no threat. Then why were they visiting this person and talking about taking his guns away? I have no problem with the Secret Service following up on a possible threat, but this is simply harassing political opposition–similar to the misuse of the IRS.

people are going to start concluding this:

The government of The United States is not legitimate. Act accordingly.

That’s all he can stands, he can’t stands no more! If enough people start thinking that in our well armed society, bad things happen.

I really don’t think the left sees this danger or if they do perhaps they have decided that an armed paramilitary IRS etc is the way to solve it. I submit and suggest that the best solution to this is not IRS agents with AK-15s ready to shoot guitar makers who might resist. Perhaps instead Government might try regaining the trust of the people by acting like they work for them rather that rule them. It’s so crazy it just might work, but I suspect there are plenty on the left who won’t care, as long as willing dupes do their fighting for them

DaTechGuy Blog October 29th 2012 The Alamo at San Antonio de Benghazi

Picture that night for a moment, In the end attackers lost 30-60% of their force but for the sake of argument let’s say only 25% of that was in the first wave. You’re attacking the compound, you’ve been attacking for hours and seen people fall all around you. You’ve been beaten back once and don’t actually know how many men are inside, what do you think would have happened if they heard the sound of a single helicopter gunship? A single plane? a single drone dropping a bomb on the force already bloodied at a rate that would cause most Western countries to declare the mission a disaster?

They would have run.

Gergory Hicks Testimony on Benghazi before House Oversight and Government Reform Committee May 8th 2013

“I believe that if we had been able to scramble a fighter or aircraft or two over Benghazi as quickly as possible after the attack commenced, I believe there would not have been a mortar attack on the annex in the morning because I believe the Libyans would have split,”

If you want to know why So many people remain angry on Benghazi, this is it.

Pope Francis Outs himself as Catholic: LCWR Hardest Hit

While the MSM has been busy with Boston, Texas, Thatcher Guns and Gosnell (OK not so much with the last one) an interesting story has come out of the Vatican:

it’s natural that the MSM has missed a story or two including this one from the Vatican:

Archbishop Müller informed the Presidency that he had recently discussed the Doctrinal Assessment with Pope Francis, who reaffirmed the findings of the Assessment and the program of reform for this Conference of Major Superiors.

It is the sincere desire of the Holy See that this meeting may help to promote the integral witness of women Religious, based on a firm foundation of faith and Christian love, so as to preserve and strengthen it for the enrichment of the Church and society for generations to come.

Translated, you know Pope Benedict’s move to force American Nuns to act, you know, Catholic, well that stands.

While the LA times gave it 8 paragraphs and The National Catholic Reporter let the LCWR vent at length the truth is their allies in the MSM & the Secular world (odd how their allies are always those most opposed to the church) have raised nary a peep.

Father Z asks if this is the moment the NCR turns on the Pope and the Curt Jester suggests the LCWR will lose their status rather than go along.

Neither will happen.

The NCR and those like them will not turn on the Pope until they have the full media behind them and as long as the media is wedded to Francis the meek, Francis the precedent setter and Francis the friend of the poor they will not be anxious to change the narrative. They will do their best to delay the day until he becomes loud and public in his opposition to Gay Marriage something they really care about, because when they go after him, an awful lot of Hispanic Americans will not be pleased.

The LCWR will not choose to leave the church, they will go along, slowly, struggling and resisting but they will go along. The moment they leave the church, they change from brave dissenters within the church to just another splinter group with their own set of beliefs and while the media will make a fuss the first day and maybe the first week, they would no longer be worthy of the pulpit that they would raise them on

As for the Pope he will keep making loud symbolic gestures reminding us of our duties to our fellow-man, duties we should NEVER forget that the press will highlight, while reminding us of our duty to God that the press would like us to forget.

All is proceeding as the Holy Spirit has planned

Why George Washington Matters; Today: Washington the General

The 2nd of a four-part series of why George Washington Matters, Yesterday, Washington the Revolutionary, today Washington the General.

Washington as a leader is often derided for his lack of victories against the British, but his record was much better than one might think.

When Henry Knox suggested bringing the cannon from Ticonderoga Washington signed on and thanks to the successful relocation of this artillery Washington was table to take Boston without a shot being fired. It’s the reason why so many of the historic buildings in Boston are still available to be visited.

There is no denying the New York Campaign was a fiasco Washington was defeated at Brooklyn Heights, White Plains and Fort Washington. But Trenton and Princeton were clear victories

Next year Howe defeated Washington at Brandywine and Germantown and at Monmouth while the batter was pretty much a draw Washington missed an opportunity and Washington doesn’t fight another battle for three years until the final victory at Yorktown.

At first glance this is not impressive, particularly when you consider numbers Washington’s victories come when he has numbers. At Trenton 60%, Yorktown 2-1 and Princeton nearly 4-1. His victory at Trenton is his most modest only a 60% advantage over the British force. In NY he is outnumbered but at Brandywine the numbers are within 7% and at Germantown he has a full 22% advantage as still loses.

While the British had numbers in all the battles of the NY Campaign at Brandywine the British have a mere 6% advantage and at Germantown has a full 22% advantage and still loses.

The numbers however don’t tell the whole story, consider his situation. England is the most powerful nation in the world, with a professional well-trained army and an experienced officer corps. Meanwhile Washington has to turn basically farmers and militia into a force that can stand against them.

Mel Gibson & Popular Lore not withstanding the war was not fought by a bunch of guys playing hit and run and hiding behind rocks. That’s Lexington & Concord and some of the partisan fights in the south but for the most part the American Revolution was a conventional War fought by the conventional tactics of the time.

Washington has to create, train and keep together an army, bring it up to snuff to stand against British Regulars in the face of lack of supplies, poor food and irregular pay.

The wonder isn’t that Washington lost so many battles, the wonder is his army lasted long enough to win any battles at all, let alone the revolution.

George Washington was more than the Colonial commander-in-chief, he was THE general of the American Revolution and perhaps of his time.

Tomorrow Washington the leader.
