Last night I discovered the Movie Occupy Unmasked was available via streaming on Netflix.

While the film was no revelation for people who have paid attention, to the average person whose only source of news comes from Bill Maher or Comedy Central or the MSM it would be the equivalent of putting on the glasses in the cult movie They Live.

Although the “star” of the movie is undoubtedly Andrew Breitbart the most prominent person in the movie outside of Andrew is without question Lee Stranahan.

There are other prominent faces Brandon Darby, Many Nagy, David Horowitz but after Andrew, Lee is the face of the movie.

Why is this important? This isn’t the last picture that Citizen’s United will make, but it is the last one featuring Andrew Breitbart as the star. In order to get the attention of the larger public it is necessary for someone to elevate himself. The most obvious candidates are naturally the people in this film, folks like Nagy, Darby, Moncrief and of course Stranahan (I don’t count Horowitz due to age but 30 years ago it might have been him)

Lee would be a good choice for several reasons, the experience in this film, his familiarity with the left and it’s tactics, he has screen presence and the right look for the role, any attempt to paint him as part of the 1% elites is comical on its face.

If you are the left you remember the taxpayer money taken directly from the mouth of Acorn by Andrew Breitbart.

If you are the left and remember the fall of Anthony Weiner a story ignored by places like Morning Joe but featured by Breitbart until Weiner fell.

If you are the left you remember every time Andrew gave you fits.

Andrew Breitbart directly threatened the money and power of the left. The rise of a new Breitbart must be stopped, by any means necessary.

Some people might wonder why a Brett Kimberlin or a Bill Schmalfeldt or a Neal Rauhauser might go after a guy like Lee Stranahan.

I don’t

Just got the following e-mail from CPAC

The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced that Dr. Ben Carson will be a featured speaker at CPAC 2013 — the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference. America’s largest gathering of conservative leaders and activists will be held Thursday, March 14 – Saturday, March 16, 2013.

For the few of you who Don’t know who Ben Carson is:

“Dr. Ben Carson represents the optimism and hope of the future of the conservative movement, while at the same time he articulates the deep fiscal and social challenges that our Nation faces,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “We look forward to welcoming Dr. Carson to the CPAC stage in March.”

Dr. Benjamin Carson is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. An internationally renowned physician, Dr. Carson has authored over 100 neurosurgical publications, along with five best-selling books, including the New York Times bestseller, America the Beautiful, and has been awarded 60 honorary doctorate degrees and dozens of national merit citations. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and delivered the keynote address at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast earlier this month.

Yeah this sounds just like a tactic. Just like a bunch of people who are trying to distract from the fact they as Joe Scarborough says: “care about hate, resentment

Because nothing says “hate and resentment” like a having a Presidential Medial of Freedom winner of color speak to CPAC.

Anyone want to make book on how long it takes for Dr. Carson to be vilified as an “Uncle Tom” online? I doubt it will take more than an hour or two.

Update: I’ll trade Ben Carson for S.E. Cupp any day

Update 2: I gave a call to CPAC after receiving the email. The person I spoke to could not nail down the speaking day and time of Dr. Carson nor nail down when the invite was sent. I’ll follow up on this during the day.

Update 3: Heard back from Laura Rigas from CPAC (the woman whose name was on the press release) She emailed that while she could not get into details on when the invitation was sent or received she did say it was “in the works for some time”. He will be speaking Saturday in the AM (meaning I might be able to catch him before going on the air). As for the reaction she wrote: “we expect it to be positive” but of course the announcement just hit an hour or so before my call & e-mail. However the Twitter reactions have been positive.

Interestingly enough while MSNBC has time to hit CPAC about Chris Christie live during their 11 AM hour they didn’t have time to mention Dr. Carson’s inclusion. I wonder why?

Update 4:
Welcome visitors from Helen’s page,

I’ve always had a great love of History and when I entered High School my goal was to become a History Teacher. However in high school two things happened that put me in a totally different direction.

The very first computers came to my High School (apple 2c’s) Yes believe it or not I did my first programming and wrote my first games on Apples.

The second thing was the passage of Proposition 2 1/2. It limited the amount that a city or town could raise property taxes without a vote to “override”

When proposition 2 1/2 came up we were told most emphatically that this was going to be disaster. the state legislature, still overwhelmingly democrat (although Governor King was that rare creature a fiscally conservative Democrat was in the Corner Office, the prelude to the future GOP strength in the 90’s) however Citizens for limited Taxation managed to unite taxpaying citizens against the bill and it won via a referendum.

After the measure was passed practically EVERY teacher at the High School was given a pink slip directly after the election. (One teacher generated a lot of laughs by asking the students “do you want to see my pink slip?” and when they said “yes” raising her skirt just enough to see her slip which was in fact pink). Today that would get you fired but in my day we had a sense of humor.

But then after all the worry the teachers were put through a strange thing happened:

The next year the teachers were still there, the school was still there and everything pretty much remained as it had been before. It put the lie to the hype.

Fast forward 30 years later and after four years of incredible spending the prospect of rolling back 2% of that spending increase is being laid on so thick you would think it was the greatest disaster to hit the United States since September 11th 2001.

I suspect this administration will do all it can to create visuals of trouble and pain from the sequester starting with stuff like this:

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have released “several hundred” immigrants from deportation centers across the country, saying the move is an effort to cut costs ahead of budget cuts due to hit later this week.

Expect more of this, because even if the sky doesn’t fall I suspect the media will do their best to pretend it is, at least for as long as they think they can get away for it.

Update: Sentence chopped off somehow, restored.

Olimometer 2.52

The thermometer hasn’t moved but you might notice its design has changed.

If you’ve had trouble getting to this site, that’s because the plugin that generated the old thermometer was messing up the code of the blog something fierce. That likely caused both the trouble of getting to the site and the lack of movement in the totals for the week.

Losing 24 hours certainly hasn’t helped but you can by being one of the 14 remaining people I need to kick in $20 by Saturday (and at least 3 by Thursday to make the monthly goal) so this weeks paycheck can take place.

It’s all up to you
