CPAC 2013 invites Dr. Ben Carson Joe Scarborough Hardest Hit

Just got the fol­low­ing e-​mail from CPAC

The Amer­i­can Con­ser­v­a­tive Union (ACU) today announced that Dr. Ben Car­son will be a fea­tured speaker at CPAC 2013 — the 40^th annual Con­ser­v­a­tive Polit­i­cal Action Con­fer­ence. America’s largest gath­er­ing of con­ser­v­a­tive lead­ers and activists will be held Thurs­day, March 14 – Sat­ur­day, March 16, 2013.

For the few of you who Don’t know who Ben Car­son is:

“Dr. Ben Car­son rep­re­sents the opti­mism and hope of the future of the con­ser­v­a­tive move­ment, while at the same time he artic­u­lates the deep fis­cal and social chal­lenges that our Nation faces,” said ACU Chair­man Al Car­de­nas. “We look for­ward to wel­com­ing Dr. Car­son to the CPAC stage in March.”

Dr. Ben­jamin Car­son is the Direc­tor of Pedi­atric Neu­ro­surgery at Johns Hop­kins School of Med­i­cine. An inter­na­tion­ally renowned physi­cian, Dr. Car­son has authored over 100 neu­ro­sur­gi­cal pub­li­ca­tions, along with five best-​selling books, includ­ing the New York Times best­seller, Amer­ica the Beau­ti­ful, and has been awarded 60 hon­orary doc­tor­ate degrees and dozens of national merit cita­tions. He is a recip­i­ent of the Pres­i­den­tial Medal of Free­dom and deliv­ered the keynote address at the 2013 National Prayer Break­fast ear­lier this month.

Yeah this sounds just like a tac­tic. Just like a bunch of peo­ple who are try­ing to dis­tract from the fact they as Joe Scar­bor­ough says: “care about hate, resent­ment”

Because noth­ing says “hate and resent­ment” like a hav­ing a Pres­i­den­tial Medial of Free­dom win­ner of color speak to CPAC.

Any­one want to make book on how long it takes for Dr. Car­son to be vil­i­fied as an “Uncle Tom” online? I doubt it will take more than an hour or two.

Update: I’ll trade Ben Car­son for S.E. Cupp any day

Update 2: I gave a call to CPAC after receiv­ing the email. The per­son I spoke to could not nail down the speak­ing day and time of Dr. Car­son nor nail down when the invite was sent. I’ll fol­low up on this dur­ing the day.

Update 3: Heard back from Laura Rigas from CPAC (the woman whose name was on the press release) She emailed that while she could not get into details on when the invi­ta­tion was sent or received she did say it was “in the works for some time”. He will be speak­ing Sat­ur­day in the AM (mean­ing I might be able to catch him before going on the air). As for the reac­tion she wrote: “we expect it to be pos­i­tive” but of course the announce­ment just hit an hour or so before my call & e-​mail. How­ever the Twit­ter reac­tions have been positive.

Inter­est­ingly enough while MSNBC has time to hit CPAC about Chris Christie live dur­ing their 11 AM hour they didn’t have time to men­tion Dr. Carson’s inclu­sion. I won­der why?
