Governor William J. Le Petomane: Holy underwear! Sheriff murdered! Innocent women and children blown to bits! We have to protect our phoney baloney jobs here, gentlemen! We must do something about this immediately! Immediately! Immediately! Harrumph! Harrumph! Harrumph! I didn’t get a “harrumph” out of that guy!
Hedley Lamarr: Give the Governor harrumph!
Governor William J. Le Petomane: You watch your ass.

There is an aspect of the sudden media interest in the Kermit Gosnell story that is getting missed.
For those of you who didn’t get the sequence of events, Twitchy and people on the pro-life side have followed and pushed this story of the murderous abolitionist for quite a while with an almost complete media blackout. In her Dam denting piece at USA Today Kristen powers alluded to the one mention outside of Fox news on the story:
A Lexis-Nexis search shows none of the news shows on the three major national television networks has mentioned the Gosnell trial in the last three months. The exception is when Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan hijacked a segment on Meet the Press meant to foment outrage over an anti-abortion rights law in some backward red state.
I remember that segment I watched to see if anyone else at that table would comment, they kept tight-lipped.
The Powers piece was inconvenient for the media for two reasons:
1. It came from a source that could not be dismissed as “right-wing”
2. It reached beyond the conservative sphere
Once that appeared in a “mainstream” source that might cause “Gosnell” to become a search term Wikipedia THE #1 source for the low information voter sprung into action:
Gosnell Wikipedia entry considered for deletion
Ace of Spades noted the irony:
Note that they’re all working from the same playbook: If we just keep silent on this, if we impose a coordinated embargo, essentially the story just goes away.
I don’t suppose I have to mention Orwell. You were already on that page.
No one of Any Import actually nailed it perfectly:
Why are the major news outlets ignoring the gruesome case against abolitionist Kermit Gosnell?
Because his case proves there is no difference between killing a baby then removing it, and removing a baby then killing it.
And Weigel in his piece noted a key fact concerning Bias:
Let’s just state the obvious: National political reporters are, by and large, socially liberal. We are more likely to know a gay couple than to know someone who owns an “assault weapon.” We are, generally, pro-choice. Twice, in D.C., I’ve caused a friend to literally leave a conversation and freeze me out for a day or so because I suggested that the Stupak Amendment and the Hyde Amendment made sense. There is a bubble. Horror stories of abortionists are less likely to permeate that bubble than, say, a story about a right-wing pundit attacking an abortionist who then claims to have gotten death threats.
Now the MSM could have continued to ignore this story, and would have likely have remained ignored even with the Twitchy coverage and the Powers piece if it hadn’t been for this tweet

Suddenly the post found it newsworthy and even Planned Parenthood found it necessary to throw Gosnell under the bus only two years after Verum Serum asked the 50,000 question about referrals.
Why has the worm finally turned? Self preservation. While they would like to kill the Gosnell story they simply have to kill this one.
The media behavior regarding the trial of monster Kermit Gosnell is a turning point: with all of conservative media’s complaints regarding the liberal bias of U.S. media, we never imagined this could happen.
We know there are journalists out there infuriated by their employer’s current behavior: The change must start with you.
We are looking for whistleblowers: if you have any information regarding why your employer is not covering the Gosnell trial, please submit it here. Your anonymity will be protected.
This is why the media has decided to cover the Gosnell story and will do so in all its ghastly glory they fear that story far more.
And here is Verum Serum’s map of local abortion clinics from 2011

No doubt some of it was word of mouth, but is it just possible that other clinics in the area who weren’t willing to “help” certain women because they knew it was illegal to do so, might mention Dr. Gosnell as an option.
That question was asked 27 months ago, has anyone answered it?
