I like Kelly Ayotte and Marco Rubio is far superior to Charlie Crist but I’d really appreciate it if they’d answer this question on the new immigration “this is not in any way amnesty” bill.

If cities like Cambridge are not enforcing current law and if the federal government is not currently enforcing it properly….

…then what is the incentive once Amnesty is granted for them to enforce the new one.

Let me know when you come up with a believable answer.

Now, if it be deemed necessary that I should forfeit my life for the furtherance of the ends of justice, and mingle my blood further with the blood of my children, and with the blood of millions in this slave country whose rights are disregarded by wicked, cruel, and unjust enactments, I submit: so let it be done.”

John Brown to the Court 1859

I know who’s on our side and they know that. They can only win a rhetorical and propaganda war. They cannot win, we outnumber them in this country and we have the guns so…

I’m not kidding, they talk a mean game but they will not cross that line because they know what they’re dealing with. And I have people who come up to me in the military, major named people in the military who grab me and go: ‘Thank you for what you’re doing, we’ve got your back.’

Andrew Breitbart September 16th 2011  Lexington Mass.

In the first part of this essay I talked about how the left sees the IRS scandal as the chance of a lifetime.  A chance to bury the Tea Party right once and for all, in the second I talked about the attacks on the tea party over the last several years by the left and their media allies none of whom actually understand what this scandal means and the end game if those responsible for this outrage are not brought to justice and made to pay not only a legal but a political price.

One can’t understand this cost without also understanding that the tea party, unlike any of the left’s paid protesters,  are actually organic, Nancy Pelosi not withstanding

“How many of were active politically active three years ago?” A hand or two would come up, invariably those who were active were delighted to see so many new folks, those who had not been active had many reasons for holding back all these years, apathy, wasn’t worried, didn’t think I’d make a difference, had too much work.

This explains results such as Jim McKenna’s incredible write-in success on election day. A large amount of voters who never showed an interest before are showing an interest now.

“Why are you active now?” The answers were more direct, the actions of this congress and president, Obamacare, cap & tax, the bank bill, the bailouts, small business owners in particular were adamant about what this was doing. They talked of the pain of laying people off to survive.

Note it was Tea Party republicans, not the establishment GOP who voted against the sequestration bill that the left now blames for all the ills of the world today, why?  They have little trust for the GOP establishment:

“Who here trusts the GOP?” Not a single hand went up, but people over and over promised me that if the GOP spent like the democrats they would be back to throw them out too. No wonder the GOP is scared of the tea party

And their predecessor, Porkbusters went after Republican spenders during the Bush years:

Back in 2005 prominent bloggers Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit and the anonymous N. Z.Bear from the blog The truth laid bear went out and started a group called PorkBusters. Its purpose was to identify wasteful spending. For several years PorkBusters tweaked congress pointing to pet projects and earmarks. Republicans such as Trent Lott were regular targets. Conservative commentators such as Michelle Malkin referenced and praised their efforts

So you’re a citizen you mistrust the system and the people inside it, after years of deciding you’ve had enough you join  a Tea Party, a group hated by the left, and only used by the right when it means the odd vote.  You fight hard and achieve historic victories first in Massachusetts then nationwide and then find out that the IRS the most feared branch of federal government  has been specifically targeting you since those victories.

And this comes out not two months after the left and their media allies attempt to disarm you and a few weeks before the full scope of the NSA PRISM system comes to light.

You tell me what are such people going to think?  I figure it’s something like this:

I’m mildly surprised that this should be revealed, yes – I take that as one more sign there’s a civil war within the Dems, now going from cold to hot. (Admittedly circumstantial, but notice how all the new scandals began surfacing, gift-wrapped, right around the time the White House became pressured enough on Benghazi to start hinting at throwing the former SecState under the bus.)

This NSA database may well be legal, within the letter of the “Patriot Act” hastily passed post 9/11. It’s well outside of the Act’s intent, according to Representative Sensenbrenner, one of the authors. (Good intentions, Road to Hell, pavement…)

In theory the database’s content is only available to intelligence professionals, and even then only accessible when a given transaction is algorithmically determined 51% likely to involve at least one foreign party.

But then, in theory the IRS was firewalled off from being used for political thuggery.

Remember people are writing this for publication the day after they discover in theory all of their communications are monitored.

Bottom line, the  people responsible for the IRS scandal have to be uncovered, they have to face serious jail time and there has to be a permanent political cost for this behavior to everyone involved in promoting it.

If this does not happen then the tea party right will be completely convinced that they no longer are able to exercise their 1st amendment rights fully and freely and they’ll be right

There are very few things more nerve wracking than the IRS looking at you?  Let’s say the left gets what it wants and the scandal isn’t punished.

What happens when Tea Party members & contributes conclude their audits were prompted by their political activity and go to the net to vent en masse?

What happens when the first story comes up of a business owner who a tea party supporter has a business closed or seized by the IRS?

What happens if even one such person commits suicide putting the blame on the IRS and that story goes out on the blogs.

The Tea Party Movement will have its Elijah Lovejoy and all bets are off.

Of course it’s not the LoveJoy moment that scares me, its the one that follows.

When you have not a small group but a large armed section of the culture connected by the net who have collectively decided that their government no longer represents them or defends their rights?

Their sons no longer defend it either by joining the army or police, outside authority is distrusted and you end up with parts of the country where federal law and state is not respected or enforced.

And when a government bureaucrat, the type that tolerated this kind of thing with sanctuary cities or during Arab festivals in Dearborn, decides to order federal law enforcement into such a place to enforce the rules what is going to happen?

You are going to create another John Brown, and things will never be the same.

None of this will happen overnight it was 22 years between Elijah Lovejoy murder in Alton Illinois and John Brown’s raid and subsequent hanging, but it was less that 18 months between Brown’s execution and the first shot at Sumter and that was in an age before mass communication and cable news when instant anger and reaction is easily stirred.

None of it need happen.  If the IRS investigation is not hindered, if the congress continues to investigate, witnesses called, deposed and questions answered under oath.  If the people involved on the political side are exposed, made to testify, and every single one of them prosecuted as the law demands all of my fears will just be that, fears.

If not then I see a terrible future before us, one that I opined on once before:

At that point the left can celebrate that they have made our military and those who support it the people they claim we are. Once that happens however any compunction about respecting them will be gone, and remember one side is armed and one is not.

That is a fate that I don’t wish on any of us.

Substitute “Tea Party” for marines and this is the future I see.

You may say that the vast majority of tea party people won’t go that far and you’d be right but it doesn’t take a vast majority, it just takes a few to decided they’ve had enough to provoke such a reaction and don’t think for one moment that foreign governments who want a divided and internationally neutered America won’t do their best to push things in that direction

If we’re really lucky it will only end in session,  which would be a disaster.

I don’t want this to be my son’s future and neither should any of you want it for yours, the best way to prevent this is for the government to earn back the trust it has lost and the first step is take care of this IRS issue honestly.

Update:  To those laughing at this post or calling me paranoid at this admittedly worst case scenario ask yourself this question:

Let’s say you’re the Russians, the Chinese, Iran or the Muslim Brotherhood.  How much would you pay for that kind of result?  What would you be willing to commit in terms of financial,, manpower, logistical support to any organization or candidate who would help bring about such a result in the US?   Would do to help along such a result.  How much would they kick in terms of money or manpower to create these conditions in America?

In fact considering this how much have they given already?
