The latest in my series of Reviews of the Matt Smith Doctor Who years

Summary:  What is locked away in the Pandorica

Plot: The most dangerous being in the Universe is locked away in the Pandorica, can the Doctor find out its secret ahead of every villain he’s ever fought.

Writing:    This is simply the best Moffat script of the season, he keeps up guessing right up until the end, he deploys characters from throughout the season to connect it, throws in several twists including two beyond anything we would expect and reminds us that when he’s on his game he is simply fantastic.

Acting: Matt Smith, Alex Kingston, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill simply shine

Memorable moments: So many it’s almost impossible to list them all, River and Dorium Maldovar, You didn’t answer your phone,I’m a target, Amy & the Roman, The Doctor Missing something, I am talking, I’m a machine

Oddities: If the empty Cyberhaad can fight how did the sword finish it off?

Pet Peeves: It was a cute stunt but the empty Cyberhead fighting on its own was odd

Great Quote(s): A TON of them

River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

The Doctor: Okay, need a better look. Gotta draw its fire, give it a proper target.

Amy Pond: How?

The Doctor: Well, you know how sometimes I have really brilliant ideas?

Amy Pond: Yeah…

The Doctor: I’m sorry!(Jumping into the open) Hey look at me, I’m a target!

Legion Commander: So, I return to my command after one week and discover we’ve been playing host to Cleopatra. Who’s in Egypt. And dead.

The Doctor: I’m missing something obvious, Rory! Something big, something right slap in front of me, I can feel it.

Rory Williams: Yeah, I think you probably are.

And of course the greatest one can’t simply just be quoted it has to be seen:

The Doctor: Hello, Stonehenge! Who takes the Pandorica takes the Universe! But, bad news everyone, ’cause guess who! Ha! Except, you lot, you’re all whizzing about, it’s really very distracting. Could you all just stay still a minute because
I am talking!, Now, the question for the hour is, “Who’s got the Pandorica?” Answer: I do. Next question: “Who’s coming to take it from me?”

Come on, look at me! No plan, no backup, no weapons worth a damn, oh, and something else I don’t have: anything to lose! So, if you’re sitting up there in your silly little space ships with all your silly little guns, and you’ve got any plans on taking the Pandorica tonight, just remember who’s standing in your way! Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, *and then*, do the smart thing!

Let somebody else try first.

Final Verdict: Five Stars if I had more Stars it would get it.

For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.

John 18:37b-38

Cardinal Borusa: Gallifrey has never know such a catastrophe, such devastation. What will we say?
4th Dcotor: Well, you’ll just have to adjust the truth again, Cardinal. What about subsidence owing to a plague of mice?
Cardinal Borusa: As I believe I told you long ago, Doctor, you will never amount to anything in the galaxy while you retain your propensity for vulgar facetiousness.

Doctor Who The Deadly Assassin 1976

General Longstreet: …in the morning we may be outnumbered, and they’ll be entrenched on the high ground.

General Lee: General, you know as well as I, we have never concerned ourselves with being outnumbered.

General Longstreet: That is true, sir, you are right. If we move to the south to Washington, they have to pursue us, and then we can fight on ground of our choosing.

There are some fundamental rules of politics that one must observe if you wish to win as evidenced by these three clips from the last seven days.

Senator Ted Cruz on ABC’s This Week on Sunday

Rep Steve King on CNN as commented on by MSNBC’s Morning Joe

Visit for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

And Sarah Palin on Gretta (hat tip Fire Andrea Mitchell)

Can you spot the common thread in the three? the answer is below the fold

Today on DaTechGuy on DaRadio We’re going to talk the latest Anthony Weiner scandal business but not focusing so much on Anthony but focusing on his wife Huma.

We’re going to talk about the strange silence of the Muslim world, from My piece here we’re going to bring up Dave Weigel’s question about just why does everybody say how wonderful she is here

Are we praising her because she didn’t run over a paparazzo or pull a Britney Spears and attack one of them with a golf club? For some reason—maybe it’s the “wrinkle-free suit”—Abedin gets extraordinary praise for doing the most ordinary of things.

Standing by your husband when he keeps disappointing you is, sadly, an ordinary thing. Making connections in D.C. and then cashing in on them is also pretty ordinary. The single most irritating aspect of the Weiner scandal is that we’re being asked to buy tickets for this third-rate psychodrama. The Weiner-Abedin marriage is to the Clinton marriage as Sharknado is to Jaws.

And Stacy McCain’s Spectator piece here:

only a Democrat could expect to survive after being caught twice. And only a Democrat could, after such a humiliating revelation, hold a press conference and say that his plan was to “move forward,” bringing along the wife he had so deliberately betrayed, expecting her to stand beside him and avow her continued devotion to him.

and his tweet of my own, one of several I’ve put out along these lines in the last 24 hours:

In hour 2 we bring on John LaRosa:

We’ll talk a bit a bout Ted Cruz & Steve King and their willingness to take on the left head on and the costs of being silent Sarah Palin discussed. and how his example can relate to other GOP candidates such as Tim Imholt in Ma-3 & Bill Ryan in NH.
