If the GOP wants to jumpstart a National 3rd Party movement for Conservatives

…this will certainly do the trick:

John Boehner is planning to unveil a set of Republican principles for immigration reform before President Obama’s State of the Union address, aiming to show the GOP is not hostile to legislation that might win them Hispanic voters.

If Speaker Boehner actually believes passing amnesty bills will make Hispanic voters suddenly decide to fall in love with the GOP he should make that announcement standing next to Senator Gabriel Gomez (R-Hispanica).

While that big from the National Journal is dicey at best, for sheer comedy you can’t beat this bit:

(The biggest threat to Republicans on immigration is in the primaries anyway, strategists say. No one will lose in the general election because they are too soft on immigration.)

Because as Presidents Romney & McCain not to mention Senator Brown can tell you, there is no precedent for the base staying home in a critical election when the leadership pisses them off.

Closing thought, has the Federal Election Commission decided is this statement by Senator John Cornyn on Amnesty

We can win in 2014 without resolving it. We can’t win in 2016 without resolving it

should be considered an in-kind contribution to the Steve Stockman Senate primary campaign?

Update:  Missed a link, corrected

Update 2 In case you think I advise conservatives taking their ball & going home in 2014 let me remind you of this video shot the day before the 2012 election.

I think the right solution is the Mike Rogers one.

Update 3: Perhaps rather than counting on people to click the link to read Mike Rogers’ (of Granite Grok ) advice I should just print it here.

The time to take over the GOP (state by state) or set up a real third party (let’s call it the conservative party, like NY state), is NOW, after a historic election that demonstrated the ineptness of the “Wizards of Smart”.

The time NOT to talk about and vote for a third part candidate, or stay home and pout about rules that work against you is DURING an historic election, when one of the evils is immeasurably worse than the guy you can’t quite warm to.

That was written the week of Romney’s defeat and it’s just as right then as it is now.

The wisest plan would be to start creating the infrastructure for such a move (taking care of the legalities etc now) so that after the 2014 elections it is in place if we wish to use it for the 2016 cycle, the advantage is two fold.

#1 The left seeing the chance to split the GOP from it’s base will happily help fund setting up such a 3rd party moves on a clandestine basis (Who do you think provided the money to get Todd Akin the GOP nomination in Missouri? It wasn’t the GOP or the tea party).

#2 The formation of such a structure creates a powerful incentive for the GOP to actually court the conservative base. You’ll be surprised how accommodating a sitting GOP member of congress becomes to conservatives when he finds his “safe” seat no longer is.

And lets not forget there is absolutely nothing to prevent a “Conservative Party of NH” from nominating, supporting and working for an acceptable GOP candidate.

Update 4: Via Glenn it would seem the Senate GOP is more optimistic about the midterms. If Amnesty/“immigration reform” passes then you can kiss that optimism goodbye.

Update 5: Hotair Opines

The big argument for waiting is that, once the Senate is back in Republican hands, the GOP can dictate terms on immigration reform to Obama. Even if they’re forced to compromise, in theory the final product should be more solid on border security and stricter about legalization than a bill written now would be. But all of that is just another way of asking how much you trust Republicans to drive a hard bargain on this

Judging from my comment section there isn’t a lot of trust out there.

Update 6 2014’s first instalanche (now only 1 behind Chucky) some excellent advice in that post concerning getting involved and working. That’s why I love Mary Lotze she started in the tea party, got involved in the local GOP committee and nobody works harder for both conservatism & the GOP.

She is a treasure.

FYI if you are an Instapundit reader who doesn’t come here until Glenn links you missed some great posts in 2014 including the Obamacare Jiza on the Catholic Church, How PETA finds some animals more equal than others, An Amazing coincidence on the IRS & Christie, why Bill Clinton is to blame if Chris Christie is lying and a missing word from US News’ anti Catholic Rant.

Update 7: Longtime Conservative & Arizona GOP activist Barbara Espinosa leaves no doubt what she thinks.

Update 8: Skip at Granite Grok opines and compares it to England:

Look at what is happening in England where the leaders of the Conservative Party have drifted away from their principles – and UKIP (the Brit TEA Party equivalent, mostly) has taken the electoral results by storm by “going back to basics”. Here in NH, the Republican pot is coming to a roiling simmer – whether or not it boils over is a function of the answer to the question:

********************************************************

[olimometer id=4]

It’s Thursday and while traffic remains decent DaTipJar and the weekly paycheck remains anemic.

$239 which adds up to 10 $25 tip jar hitters will change this (ok) 10 $24 tip jar hitters will be fives are rounder)

Like a baseball game when you are trailing big if we can move DaTipJar within striking distance we might be able to win this.

I would appreciate your help.

[olimometer id=2]

Also if we can get 57 14 more subscribers @ at $20 a month the bills the problem will be solved on a more permanent basis.

It won’t cover CPAC but it will do all the base bills and that’s what counts

Can you be one of them?

Update 2:  In case you think I advise conservatives taking their ball & going home in 2014 let me remind you of this video shot the day before the 2012 election.

If Amnesty/”immigration reform” passes then you can kiss that optimism goodbye.

Update 6:  2014′s first instalanche   (now only 1 behind Chucky) some excellent advice in that post concerning getting involved and working.  That’s why I love Mary Lotze she started in the tea party, got involved in the local GOP committee and nobody works harder for both conservatism & the GOP.
