The 16 Days of Palin at CPAC: Day 5 Playing Prevent

This is the 5th of my series of Sarah Palin clips from CPAC 2014 & commentary upon them:

Day 1: The Crowd
Day 2: The Entrance
Day 3: Dr. Seuss

Day 4: Why Sarah Feels Good

One of most rightly criticized stratagems in football is the Prevent defense.

The principle for those who don’t know football is pretty basic, with a large lead late in the game a team plays a loose defense guarding only against the big play and the sidelines. The idea it to “prevent” a mistake or a big play that could result in scoring although it tends to allow an awful lot of yardage.

What it also tends to do allow an opponent to build momentum and get back into a game. There is example after example of prevent defense leading to teams regaining confidence and roaring back in games that had looked safely in the bag.

This is pretty much the plan of the GOP as Sarah Palin describes it. The GOP is convinced their best plan is to simply let the president’s healthcare plan, economy and foreign policy implode on their own.

Sarah however notes that unlike a football game, allowing Barack Obama to be a weak president things like this happen:

With a referendum on secession looming in Crimea, Russia massed troops and armored vehicles in at least three regions along Ukraine’s eastern border on Thursday, alarming the interim Ukraine government about a possible invasion and significantly escalating tensions in the crisis between the Kremlin and the West.

If you don’t have a strong defense in football you give up yardage and point, if you don’t have a strong defense in America, real people all over the world suffer.

Sarah knows this cost, does the GOP?
