Some Murders are more equal than others to the MSM

Looking at the news out of Israel I’ve noticed a change in the international coverage.

When the Israeli teens Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel disappeared, it was a small story as far as the international press was concerned. The coverage was slight and until the day they were actually found dead it was as if the press figured: Hey it’s the middle east, these things happen.

This changed dramatically when there was a new causality: Muhammad Hussein Abu Khdeir a Palestinian Teen who was kidnapped and murdered shortly after the bodies of the three Israeli teen were found who was burned, murdered and dumped

Like the previous murders it was a horrible crime that could not be justified, unlike the previous murders, the media sprung into action as did America’s Secretary of State:

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the despicable and senseless abduction and murder of Muhammad Hussein Abu Khdeir. It is sickening to think of an innocent 17 year old boy snatched off the streets and his life stolen from him and his family. There are no words to convey adequately our condolences to the Palestinian people.

Considering that one of the Jewish teens was an American citizen the Palestinian teen was not, it was a tad odd how much more quickly our state department reacted.

Meanwhile there was one other arab teen murdered that day that got absolutely no attention:

Her name was Omaima Jaradat and she made absolutely no world headlines. There are a few differences between the two cases. Pick the reason why you think you’ve not heard her name.

She’s a girl, girls are obviously less important than boys right? [This is sarcasm for those unfamiliar with my tone]

There is a very obvious suspect in the case (her Arab and therefore not Jewish uncle) so this is a case of an Arab killing a family member.

Nobody really gives a s**t about Arabs slaughtering other Arabs (and especially not their female relatives). How many have been killed in Syria so far, can you be bothered to google it?

In fact the only coverage this received in English (it got brief mentions in Palestinian Arabic sources) were Jewish Press and Cherson and Molschky blog. Consider the fact that Muhammad’s murder warranted a statement from John Kerry (one that came out faster than his eventual statement after the kidnapping of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali).

For those of you who don’t get it, the reason why the brutal & disgusting murder of young Muhammad is newsworthy is because Jews are suspected of doing it as revenge for the kidnapping & murder of the three Jewish teens and the idea of Jews murdering a palestinian youth deliberately is odd.

On the other end however the murder of the three teens is not worthy of the same press and the murder of young Omaima Jaradat is worthy of none because the first were murdered by Arabs and nobody is surprised in the least when Arabs murder jews and they are less surprised when Arabs murder each other for one reason or another. Aussie Dave again.

So I’d like to pay tribute to poor Omaima Jaradat, sweet 16 and murdered most likely by her own family for a transgression I’m unlikely to ever find out more about. One of many girls killed every year by their families in Israel and one of thousands across the Arab world. What a pity nobody cares.

If you are one of those people who are ready to march over horrible killing of young Muhammad, but was not ready to react over the killing of Eyal, Gilad Naftali or even Omaima I submit and suggest it implies that your are bigoted against Arabs as you don’t expect civilized behavior from them.
