The War Against Reality in Newsrooms Everywhere

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.

Back in January we reminded readers of the Millerites who unlike today global warming doomsday cults who predict doom outside of living memory made the mistake of predicting doom within a year or two thus making their error/fantasy/delusions easily proved false.

We now have the media in that very same spot.

Seven years after Barack Obama was hailed as the man who was going to bring peace and prosperity, the man who was going to make America respected around the world, the man who was going to heal the racial divisions in this country that meme is no longer tenable even to the low information voter.

As more and more people who expected prosperity find themselves on assistance, losing insurance and unable to find a job and the world moves from the Pax Americana to its normal state of violence the obvious truth that an inexperienced Chicago pol had no business being elected president has bled though every shield that the media has set up.

This has presented a problem. There are two elections coming up in the next 27 months and it’s the function of the mainstream media to aid in producing a result favorable to the Democrat party from which the ranks of their staffs are populated.

The necessity of Democrats in non safe districts to contrast themselves to the current administration without connecting their failures to the party they share is a tough balancing act even without the complication of race. With the race card thrown into the mix it becomes a Gordian knot.

Even after bearing the brunt of the president ‘s incompetence the black community given the chance of replacing him with a proven competent manager, turned out in force to prevent the first black president in US history to be acknowledged publicly as a failure after only a single term.

This suggests that to the American black voter sustaining a cultural myth trumped their own well-being.

And this is where the rubber hits the road.

Even if the left can leverage the Michael Brown case into enough black turnout to save the Senate for them there are going to be a series of Democrat candidates for president who will need to proclaim themselves capable of solving the problems left by the Obama administration while publicly declaring Barack Obama a historic success.

That’s hard to do with a president whose solution to folks who behead American’s is to organize the Arab world.

It forces people like Jeanne Shaheen to say things like this

And she’s not alone:

During a Wednesday night debate between Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) and North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis, the vulnerable Tar Heel State Democrat adopted a more forceful tone when discussing the challenge to U.S. security in the Middle East. In doing so, she took a shot at Obama’s policy towards the Syrian civil war from which the Islamic State sprang.

I think one of the issues here is the President should have weaponized the moderate Syrian rebels sooner,” Hagan said. “Without doing that, he has allowed ISIS to grow. I believe that ISIS is the most serious threat to our national security since 911.”

And even Elizabeth Warren is as Howie Carr would say, putting on the warpaint:

“We need to be working now, full-speed ahead, with other countries, to destroy ISIS. That should be our No. 1 priority,” she said in a wide-ranging interview promoting her latest book, A Fighting Chance.

How the Newrooms will manage the to walk this tightrope on this should be an interesting thing to see.

“I think one of the issues here is the President should have weaponized the moderate Syrian rebels sooner,” Hagan said. “Without doing that, he has allowed ISIS to grow. I believe that ISIS is the most serious threat to our national security since 9/11.”
