World War 3 – 5 Reasons that Perhaps the Pope was right

As a lifelong Catholic I have always paid attention when the Pope makes a public statement, at least as often as I am able. I also tend to pay attention when a religious world leader from any religion does the same, as a matter of respect.

Recently the Pope did say that we are now in a state of Defacto World War – perhaps even a piecemeal World War 3. He said it was for several different reasons but let’s just lay out a few things that

Crime – The Holy Father said that crime was a part of this. Crime is running rampant. I know, someone is going to say…but my neighborhood…I’m not talking about that. I mean that we now pick and choose which laws apply and to which people. Immigration laws are now optional; The Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) has so many waivers that the news has stopped talking about them. These waivers say that this particular law does now apply to this group. We have a President and Congress (of both political stripes) that believes that laws can be interpreted any which way as long as they aren’t applied to elected leaders. I could go on, but when we start saying things such as “yeah but we aren’t going to enforce that aspect of that law” we have entered a lawless state. That is a problem. If a law isn’t going to be enforced get rid of it. If not those that break it, despite not being prosecuted, are in fact, law breakers. We appear to be a country that picks and chooses which of our own laws we enforce. That is just nutty. Perhaps that is one thing that will help plunge the world into chaos.

Massacres – Another thing the Holy Father spoke of are massacres. Well, outside of reporters that are at threat of having their heads chopped off, which is a deep concern, we have other issues. We have ISIL in Iraq telling Christians to convert to their version of ISLAM or die. Well, some people convert when you give them that option, others do not. One thing about ISIL, they follow through on their threats. That, to me, seems like either an attempt at a holocaust if not the start of it. Recall that WW2 Jewish camps did not start with gas chambers. There was a ramp up to get there. This could be just the start.

Russia and Ukraine – This past weekend, despite the lack of news coverage on it, Russia and the Ukraine were still going at one another militarily. Russia still has 25,000 troops outside of Ukraine and another 3,000 running around inside shooting various targets seemingly at will. Sounds like the last time we had a world war when Hitler took over Poland (I hate to over use the Hitler example but we are talking world wars and he started one. I could easily go back to WW1 but not many people are as familiar with that one).

US in Syria and Libya – We now have the United States hitting targets inside Syria and Libya, or about to start doing so. Well that makes two major militaries on the other side of the world shooting things (Us and Russia).

Israel and everyone – Let’s not forget that Israel is still hitting, and getting hit, by a lot of people. Doubt this one happens? There is a smart phone app that tells you when a rocket attack against Israel occurs. Download it sometime, it is free. It will not take long before you uninstall it because it goes off so often.

Are we in the middle of WW3? I would say no. Are we seeing the start of it? Well…You don’t get to be the Holy Father by being stupid. He may, in fact, be correct. History has shown that this is how those world conflicts begin. We appear to be one bad bottle of vodka away from all holy heck breaking loose. I for one, hope that the Pope is wrong, but I fear he is 100% correct, and even those of you who are not Catholic have to at least think he has a valid point.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Are we in a world war? Is this the start? Or are we just living in confusing times?
