The Trump MSM Symbiotic relationship Pt 3: The Enablers

Michael Corleone: Your enemies always get strong on what you leave behind.

Godfather III 1990

The third of three parts (plus an epilogue) series on Donald Trump and the MSM part 1 Donald Donald Donald is here part 2 The Big Lie: is here. And today we are talking about the author of what is going on here.

The National GOP.

The GOP establishment (or as Ted Cruz calls them the “Washington Cartel”) has long ducked dodged and hidden when it comes to illegal immigration. When election time comes around the tough talk comes on display but as soon as the election is past the chamber of commerce’s desire for cheap labor that will not ask a lot of questions nor make the demands of the American born and the funds they contribute come into play.

The support of big money supporters is an important card but there is a second card in play.

As we have already established the media, particularly the Spanish media has been pushing the big lie that the GOP base dislikes illegal immigration because they dislike the Spanish. It has been the reason immigration issue forward for many years trying to make it a wedge issue to use against Republicans & Conservatives (apparently the failure of a Democrat supermajority to bother with the issue from 20082010 had no bearing) . At every opportunity the various arms of the media and culture paint conservatives in general and Republicans in particular as racists.

Now the GOP could fight back, they could directly confront the media that hates and spins the GOP, but there is one thing that holds them back.

It would mean the slings and arrows of the press to defend a base that many republican dislike.

They dislike a base that demands fiscal restraint when they would prefer the funds to grant favors to fatcat supporters who would repay them with high paying jobs when their time in congress is done. They dislike a base whose devotion to Christianity & opposition to abortion causes them embarrassment in elite DC. They dislike a base that gives scrutiny to bills that they would like quietly passed.

But most of all they resent a base that acts as if they, the people are in charge, that doesn’t submit to their betters.

Why fight for people you don’t like when it’s so much easier to go along?

So now we have Donald Trump speaking up when the party is silent and we’re treated to the spectacle of the same media that demonize Mitt Romney seeking him out to lead the attack with the rest of the GOP anxious to follow with only Ted Cruz is smart enough to call out the media for the game it’s trying to play. The game that is never played on Democrats when a Carlos Henriquez comes along.

For the record I think the party, as I’ve already written, has reason to distrust Trump, but not as much reason as the GOP voter has to distrust the party, now if the party had been willing to give some deference to the people who elected them, they would find them grateful. If the GOP had been willing to lead on the immigration issue, to stand with their base, to make the case without having to be dragged screaming and kicking, then the base might have backed them up when they needed it.

Instead they kicked their base in the teeth, and THEN they wonder why a man like Trump is able to make hay with them.

Bobby Jindal once famously called the GOP the stupid party, by running away from their base and enabling both Trump and the MSM, they are doing their best to prove him right.

The only saving grace of all of this is the trap that threatens the MSM, a trap that involves basic math, but that’s not so much part of the story but the epilogue.

Godfather III 1990

The third of three parts (plus an epilogue)  series on Donald Trump and the MSM part 1 Donald Donald Donald is here part 2 The Big Lie:  is here.   And today we are talking about the author of what is going on here.

It has been the reason immigration issue forward for many years trying to make it a wedge issue to use against Republicans & Conservatives (apparently the failure of a Democrat supermajority to bother with the issue from 2008-2010 had no bearing) .
