…then on every network you would be seeing activists decrying Parker and Ward as the lowest of the low. Stating they were emblematic of the Racism in media and demanding they be dismissed. On twitter you would be seeing people calling them bigots at best and likely a whole lot worse and both of them would have become so radioactive as to be practically unemployable and Flanagan would not only have been hailed as a heroic whistleblower, a symbol of black oppression he would have been invited to speak at events all over the nation, and any person who doubted his story or defended either Ward or Parker they would have immediately been denounced as racists both online and in media.

That would have been the end result if Vester Flanagan has shot off his mouth rather than his gun.

Keep that in mind the next time someone is so quick to cry racism and be ready to destroy someone.

Related: What happens when a meme goes wrong:

I suspect that if Flanagan had made those charges Deray would have been right behind him.

Update: Stacy McCain

If someone says they are a victim of racism, sexism or homophobia, and then they use claims of victimhood to justify violence, how seriously should we take their political arguments? It’s a hall of mirrors. If we say Vester Flanagan was just a disgruntled kook, what does that make Al Sharpton? Isn’t he just a more successful disgruntled kook?

I have yet to be replaced by a Robot so the only way I can keep doing this full time is if my pay comes from you. My annual goal is Twenty Two grand which will give me a nominal living doing this.

For a Donald Trump the 22K that would cover my expenses for the and the extra $10K that would pay for the roof, car, floor kitchen and bathroom repairs that I had to put on plastic would be nothing and if my traffic was the size of a Drudge getting enough people to kick in to cover those bills would likely not be an issue.

But I have to take things as they are so if you like what you see here including my paid writers like Tim Imholt, Fausta Wertz, Pat Austin et/al and have a little extra you can spare.  I’d appreciate it if you would hit DaTipJar

Imagine, if you will, the ultimate road trip: Driving the PanAmerican Highway from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Monterrey, Mexico, and then steering northeast to Philadelphia, to arrive at the World Meeting of Families.

In a Brazilian-made 1980 VW bus named Francisca (after the Pope).

With your spouse and four kids (ages 3 to 12).

Over six months.

After you and your spouse quit your jobs.

I came across the whole incredible adventure on my Facebook feed, which led me to their Facebook page America en familia, and from there went to their website, which has Spanish and English versions, a crowdsourcing page at Indiegogo, and of course, a Twitter page.

Who are these people?

From their English about page,

We are Carmin, Mia, Dimas, Cala, Noël and Catire. An Argentinean family. We are not hippies but we love freedom. We have a “normal” life, work, school, home, good friends … A nice life. Like many, we have to make ends meet, we struggle to achieve our daily chores, we organize trips and vacations, and we try to live our faith without making “much trouble” … We like traveling, new places and meeting people. Restless souls, or “culo inquieto” as they say over here. We lived many years in Barcelona, an amazing experience that allowed us to make friendships that will last forever. A few months ago we decided that it was time to fulfill a new dream.

More than simply fulfilling a dream, they are answering a calling. They are living their faith every moment and every mile of their fantastically interesting and quite perilous journey.

The kids are being homeschooled while getting a hands-on education on the geography, history, customs, and foods of the hemisphere. More importantly, the lessons these children are learning from this most inspirational journey will outlive the 20,000 mile trip.

The family has relied on the kindness of many along their trip, as you can see in their route page. One of their hosts explains,

“As a Catholic, I like to meet people in whom faith is something living, like a motor,” said Martinez, who teaches Italian at the Michelangelo Academy and is a philosophy professor at the Popular Autonomous University of Puebla state. “When I saw the blog I thought it would be an enormous treasure to meet them. If I can provide a grain of sand to help them along the way, even better.”

A VW bus (which they call a kombi) became their vehicle of choice because of its very simple engine, with which all mechanics in South America are familiar. Unfortunately, Francisca is feeling her age and required major work while in Guatemala, stranding the family for 22 days. They are now back on the road, heading to Philly.

You can watch an interview (in Spanish) on YouTube, but we need to get Pete to Philly so he can interview the Walkers, while he reports on the World Meeting of Families, so please hit Da Tip Jar.

Let’s get Da Tech Guy and the Walkers together!

Fausta Rodriguez Wertz on U.S. and Latin American politics at Fausta’s Blog.

1. Nothing at all is going to knock this off the front page today.

2. Every single reporter on TV today is looking at this story saying to themselves: “That could have been me.”

3. In my opinion it is extremely unlikely that this was either a random shooting or an act of terror due to the location and time of day. It would seem to me that one of those three were specifically targeted, however the reaction of the press and the wall to wall coverage suggests that terrorists will be using this as a template in the future.

4. When Christians say: You’re not promised tomorrow, it’s not a rhetorical statement.

5. The Gov of Virginia Terry McAuliffe is already playing the gun control card, took under 4 hours.

6. On a similar note expect pols to release any damaging info they want buried today on the “never let a crisis go to waste” theory. It’s rather crass to say but it’s true.

7. I am just as outraged over the almost daily horrifying murders in Chicago & Baltimore that I don’t see live on TV as I am about this.

8. Many of the same people who will be horrified by this video are suppressing the just as horrifying planned parenthood videos.

9. Remember reporters often get sent to dangerous places, this wasn’t supposed to be one of them.

10. Until the guy is caught I’d take any reports with a grain of salt.

11. As Christians we of course pray for the families and for the souls of the dead but we are also obliged to pray for the shooter, that is not an optional doctrine.

Yesterday as I was channel surfing I stumbled on Brooke Baldwin CNN show as she was about to do a segment on why women should not stay with cheating husbands based on Josh Duggan.

The irony of the segment of course was that Hillary Clinton name did not come up once, and while that was the source of some humor on twitter

the segment that followed was even funnier.

It consisted of Ms. Baldwin and a panel talking about the latest Donald Trump vs Megyn Kelly vs Roger Ailes feud.

Now that the subject was the topic of the segment wasn’t a huge shock particularly considering that the Politico story on the subject was on top of Memeorandum at the time.

foxtvsk

However the entire segment consisted of the people at the table holding the following consensus beliefs:

1. Donald Trump is bad man who is hurting the GOP

2. Roger Ailes hitting trump is dangerous for Fox because he is the GOP front runner

3. Fox, Trump Megyn Kelly & the GOP will be damaged by this “feud”.

Now it wouldn’t be odd to me for eggs on twitter to have an opinion like this but these guys on CNN are supposed to be pros

The “feud” which has gone from Trump, to ailes, to trump to other fox guys back to trump does everything that both Trump and Fox would like to see.

First for Trump, he is the leader in all the polls, the only way for someone to catch up with him in the short term  is to get big press because it’s all a perception game when it comes to contributions.

The louder Trump is the more the press covers his, the more they cover him the less likely anybody else is going to get any kind of press from the cable or network news, and the less coverage they get the less likely they will advance.

(What you thought Jeb Bush was Unhappy Trump is constantly attacking him?).

But as much as Trump loves this Fox loves it more.

Granted the CNN + MSNBC audiences are dwarfed by Fox but how must Roger Ailes love that both networks are basically running an ad for Fox every hour at no charge?

How much must he love them having to defend Megyn Kelly (who is a big girl and can take care of herself.)

If that’s not enough while NBC, CBS & ABC may have no interest in stuff like the Planned Parenthood protests they can’t get enough of the Fox vs Trump stuff and unlike the cable networks their audiences are MUCH larger than their own.

And that’s just the short-term advantage, what happens when these people who have been told for years that Fox is the focus of evil propaganda in the world watch it and actually see that it does, well news?

Fox in general and Megyn Kelly in particular can’t help but come out ahead.

I know I talked about this a few weeks ago but it’s really amazing to watch the MSM “professionals” fall for it again and again and again.

What a bunch of Maroons.

An aside, in fairness to Brooke Baldwin I should give her two disclaimers:

1.  Every single other newscast that followed did the same thing as her team

2.  She did point out that there was no indication that any of this stuff had done a thing to hurt Trump
