Reality eventually asserts itself, ideology notwithstanding.

I’ve mentioned this weekend that even if she gets the nomination (and don’t think for one minute the Biden “regret” story is not about making it clear that the Democrat powers that be are having 2nd thoughts) Hillary Clinton is doomed doomed doomed.

There are many reasons for this, but lets cut to the chase, the left has spent the last four years convincing themselves that candidate Hillary Clinton is the Hot Chick here who will energize liberals to dance.

But the reality is Hillary the candidate looks is this:

Alas Poor Democrats Reality Sucks

SHREVEPORT – He’s not even been inaugurated yet and John Bel Edwards appears to be giving the shaft to his supporters and waffling on his promise to get rid of state superintendent of education, John White.

Many Republican voters eschewed David Vitter in the most recent gubernatorial election because, well, they just couldn’t stomach him any longer, regardless of party assignation. In rejecting Vitter, a large number of Republicans crossed party lines to vote for John Bel Edwards based primarily on his promise to get rid of White who is a huge supporter of Common Core.

In making early appointments, Edwards has named three members to the state BESE board (Board of Elementary and Secondary Education) who all appear to be supporters of White and thereby dashing all hope of having enough votes to get rid of White.

The Crazy Crawfish notes:

I think a lot of people are going to pissed when they find out they voted against Common Core and thought they elected a candidate that was against it, only to find it was rebranded and actually made worse, as the review committee has reportedly done by the various folks who have resigned from it in protest.

Do you think they are going to blame their BESE candidate (that they probably don’t remember now) or the Governor who ran against Common Core and John White?

Education Reformers have been crowing for well over a month that John Bel cut a deal and John White is safe.  I don’t hear one peep of complaint out of them either.  Meanwhile many of the folks that brought John Bel to the Governor’s Ball are left out in the cold and we are not happy with what we have seen so far.

But, if you vote for a Democrat, you should not be surprised when he expands food stamps, expands Medicaid, and crawfishes on promises.

He’s an Obama man, for crying out loud!

I wasn’t a fan of Bobby Jindal in more recent years, but I have a feeling Edwards is going to do a lot to rehabilitate the Jindal legacy.

Do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time.

Winston Churchill arguing against the Munich Pact in parliament

A few days ago yet another liberal who was losing an argument with me on the concept of God given rights decided to throw the Church’s sex scandal in my face asking about Priests and Boys.

He ran for cover after I pointed out he was talking about the rape of Children by Gays but his bringing up the subject the same day as the Shooting of a police officer in Philly by a man saying he did it for Allah and a week after the mass rapes in Germany & elsewhere got me thinking about the parallel involve here.

The reason why the Church’s sex abuse scandal went on so long wasn’t a lack of local laws in the community nor rules against these grave sinful acts.  They went on because of unwillingness of various bishops to forthrightly address the issue and enforce said rules and bring in police to enforce local laws.

In short they failed to treat the priests in question like the criminals there were.

If the first Bishop who discovered the first priest abusing the first child turned him into the police, publicly denounced his actions,  apologized profusely to the public, defrocked him and took a tough look at the seminaries remove any unsuitable candidates for the priesthood or teachers not enforcing the vows of celibacy this would have changed everything.

The certainty of temporal punishment and exposure would have changed the equation and nipped this in a bud pretty early.  I suspect that the Vatican would have backed up such actions by a Bishop (it would have been tough for even the biggest squish in the Curia to argue against it) and even those who argued for forgiveness & mercy would be forced to concede that temporal punishments for criminal acts is completely separate from and does not preclude sacramental forgiveness. If it did than priests wouldn’t hear confessions of criminals in jail.

Instead too many bishops were worried about scandal and we saw the result.  Bad priests passed around, bad candidates passed in seminaries, causing thousands to suffer and when the Church finally acted it did so at a huge cost both spiritual and financial.  It would take many years of weeding out bad priests, tighter discretion at seminaries and solid rules and training in parishes to solve this problem and it will likely take a generation or more of careful attention and watchful vigilance to rebuild the trust that was thrown away due to inaction..

The driving force behind this was fear. Fear of scandal, fear of a lack of mercy, fear of what higher ups would think, fear of litigation.  In short fear of dealing with an unpleasant reality.    Instead of trusting Christ’s words: “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” the church let fear drive them and the sexual sin of individuals became instead the sins of cowardice, indifference  and apathy of the whole church.  Sins that our church is still paying the price for.

The exact same thing is happening in the western world in regards to Islam.

Before the mass immigration of Muslims to the west (and I’m not talking about the current refugee crisis I mean way before this) it was a given in the west that the secular laws would be enforced regardless of religious affiliation.  That rape, theft, beatings were not acceptable.  That the freedom to practice any religion or not religion, the freedom to change religions, the freedom say what you think, say , write and act as you want, provided it did not violate existing law, was a given.

When the first wave of Muslims came, and these rules were questioned or ignored the state could have taken action.  If when the first wife was beaten by the such an immigrant the perp was punished to the fullest extent of the law, if the first rape of a child, assault of a woman, beating of a gay man, attempt to enforce Sharia law in neighborhoods or discourage the enforcement of the common law in neighborhoods was answered with the firm conviction that there was one law in the land and it applied to all those who could assimilate and lived by these rules would have done so and those who could not or would not would have either been punished to the fullest extend of the law or been deported back home.

Instead like the church for political, economic or cultural reasons the countries of Europe hung back and the communities became isolated and unassimilated.  And when the cultural effect went beyond the results have been devastating, In Rotherham, in Birmingham, in Cologne, in Oslo in Paris and in literally thousands of other places the authorities have decided to go all in with a comfortable lie.  They have chosen to pretend that millions of unassimilated muslims in the west are not a problem, they have chosen to ignore the no go zones, the violence, the murder of their citizen and even the rape of their women and children for the sake of proclaiming that none of these things have anything to do with Islam, its practice or its culture.

Even in the United States  in San Bernardino, at Fort Hood, in Boston  in Philly and in Dearborn US Citizen have been killed and assaulted and killed in the name of Islam for asserting rights they’ve always possessed while our government insists that even when a killer declares they are doing these things in the name of ISIS (the ISLAMIC state of Iraq and Syria) or ISIL (the ISLAMIC state of Iraq and the Levant) or even just in the name of Islam authorities insist it has nothing to do with Islam at all.

Like the church scandal the driving force here is fear and a desire to put off a confrontation that this big lie is making more a more likely.  And like the church scandal the longer the west remains in denial the greater the cost of solving the problem and eventually if the government refuses to face facts the people will choose to do so:

Thousands have pledged their support to a German vigilante group which has vowed to protect women from migrants in the wake of the New Year’s Eve attacks in Cologne.

A week after a mob of ‘drunk and stoned’ migrants sexually assaulted and robbed 100 women on the streets of Cologne, a group known as ‘Dusseldorf is Watching’ has gained more than 8,000 Facebook members.

The group says it wants to make the streets safer through ‘presence’ alone but police have warned that ‘searching for offenders is not a job for citizens’.

All of his is because Europe having reaquired freedom at the cost of tens of thousands of lives and having remained free because tens of thousands of troops and many Billions of dollars were spent over the course of five decades to keep it free has decided the cost of those freedoms are too high.

In America we’re lucky. Our founding fathers gave us the 2nd Amendment and despite Barack Obama’s best efforts in the end individual Americans are too well armed for the country to be lost, as a certain fictional barkeep once said to a Nazi: “Well there are certain sections of New York, Major, that I wouldn’t advise you to try to invade.” and there are some parts of Europe where you don’t hear about local women being bothered by migrants, Sicily for example (I suspect it’s due to rash of Heart Attacks) and some nations have bluntly said enough.

But mark my words Europe every day you spend ignoring the problem the more likely it will take bloodshed to solve it and every year you wait to solve it the possibility arises that if civil war comes, you’ll lose.

Take a lesson from the mistakes of the Church and don’t repeat the mistakes we made.  Your very lives depend on it.
