The 11th Doctor: It’s all wrong. President Obama taking questions from the press? The press challenging him on issues? The TARDIS taking us to Washington when we are supposed to be in Bermuda…
Rory: You’ve got to admit that last one isn’t unusual.
I had planned to spend my Tuesday evening finally making it to game night with friends before getting to work for 10:30 PM work time but when I woke from an odd dream ( Involving a Train, A Fedora, Robert Stacy McCain in a Fez an a missing pair of trousers and Baltimore and Washington because as Stacy McCain put it, dreams are like that) and found that reality was even weirder.
Ten American sailors were being held in Iranian custody after two small U.S. naval craft entered Iranian territorial waters, defense officials said Tuesday.
That was a shock, but not as much as what followed in the story (emphasis mine)
The White House expects the situation to be resolved quickly. A senior administration official said there is nothing to indicate this was anything hostile on the part of any entity in Iran, adding that the U.S. has received high-level assurances that the sailors will be released promptly.
Because NOTHING say “not hostile” like seizing the armed forces of another country.
So instead of seeing my pals & find myself at 8:10 PM typing this story and bumping my planned Wednesday morning post to Thursday to talk about a state of the Union speech I planned to skip.
Now one would think that Barack Obama would be saying: “Why Me” because the new Iranian Hostage situation came just in time to step on the message he wanted to deliver and as we know without a Teleprompter this President is not one who can think on his feet.
However if there is one thing I have learned in the last seven years that there is nothing Barack Obama can do that will affect either the MSM’s preferred narrative concerning him.
So here is what I expect to see when I get home from Mass after work at 9 AM or so tomorrow morning.
All night the narrative is going to be how well Barack Obama in not letting the Iranian situation distract from his forward looking message.
If the Iranians choose to release the sailors by 9 AM EST the media will paint this as a major victory for the administration justifying their deals with Iran (If Iran want to prop up Obama they would time the release so Obama can announce it during his speech).
Democrats will attack (in fact on twitter have already started to attack) conservatives for their hateful comments on the issue and If the sailors are not released the it will be blamed by the MSM on the hardline rhetoric of GOP candidates hampering our diplomacy . If the MSNBC and CNN have candidates on TV they will be asked if the republican rhetoric is endangering our troops.
Any release of these sailors before Saturday will be spun as a great diplomatic victory.
One last thing, note these two tweets from two different twitter threads
@DaTechGuyblog Reagan made a terrible call in Iran. To me, it is self-evident, but that's because I read a wide variety of journalism

Apparently even on twitter the left has decided that it’s not possible to defend Obama on the new Iranian crisis so the decision has been made to put it all on Reagan.
Expect a lot more of this if the crisis goes on longer than a few days.
I’d be disgusted by all of this if I expected better.
The only pay I get for this work comes from you. My goal for 2016 is $22,000 That’s $62 a day
Given that fact I would I ask you to please consider hitting DaTipJar.
That gets all the bills paid. Consider Subscribing 100 Subscribers at $20 a month will get the job done and then some.
Additionally our subscribers get our podcast emailed directly to them before it show up anywhere else.
I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.
