The victimization industry rolls right along (emphasis added),
A lecturers’ union is refusing to let its officers take part in debates at an equality summit if they are white, straight, able-bodied men.
The equality conference of the University and College Union said that members must declare their ‘protected characteristic’ – whether they are gay, disabled, female or from an ethnic minority – when applying to attend.
Activists say that it means representatives who do not qualify cannot participate in all of the discussions – even though they have been elected by their union branch.
At the misnamed equality conference, the participation of the “other” is not a value that matches their notion(s) of equality, even if the “other” are their own members.
The elected union reps are banned – why?
They would be barred from ‘break-out’ sessions that organisers claim are a ‘safe space’ for those with the ‘protected characteristics’ to talk openly about their situations.
I assume that, being a union, members must pay a fee to belong. Therefore, the straight, white, able-bodied men who are paying to belong to the University and College Union are subsidizing a conference from which they are barred, since the victimization echo chamber is not interested in anything other than their union dues.
From there, the “diversity summit” participants will go back to the hallowed halls of academia to further promote its”diversity” findings, all within a safe space, of course.
The original Akademia was founded by Plato as a school of philosophy dedicated to a Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill. From there came the socratic method of debate. The current academia lacks any wisdom, and the only skills it promotes are those of the victimization industry, where debate gets thrown out the window of the safe space.
