I was very happy to find that the Catholic faith was well represented at CPAC 2017 I spoke to Tom Wenzel of EWTN.

I asked them if they know of a priest who might be saying mass perhaps next year they can bring one to do so.

Full disclosure I’m associated with WQPH 89.3 FM radio an EWTN affiliate as a volunteer.

After talking with EWTN I ran into Alberto Calamaro of Radio Maria a Spanish Language Catholic station.

I think the rise of Catholic media will be a great blessing for both CPAC and the country.

If you want to understand how the MSM operates the best illustration comes from this very short video

Because why talk to one of 10,000 conservatives excited to be at CPAC or speak with attendees and shoot dozens of videos with them to find out what they think if they support Trump when you can find one Nazi looking for publicity and paint all those who dare support your opponent in the White House with that brush?

Alas for them CPAC was smart enough not to play that game.

Well, things aren’t going too well for white nationalist Richard Spencer who showed up at CPAC today:

Spencer replied that Grizzly Joe is a moron who can’t dress: And shortly after this exchange, Spencer was kicked out of CPAC:

While not as important as the video above the next two videos show the pack mentality in action.

The best thing to do in that situation? Abandon the pack!

I think I’d rather be out there interviewing a dozen folks in attendance rather than losing 40 minutes in the hope of getting one shot as part of the crowd.

If you’re interested in telling your readers a story rather than saying “look at me I’m media!” that’s the way to go.

Update of course I have my own fake news story but that’s for tomorrow.

Never Forget. That’s what we said after the islamic terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, but many barely remember anymore, to our great disgrace. That was the second time the Twin Towers in Manhattan were attacked, but it seems the world was eager to forget the first World Trade Center bombing, which happened on February 26, 1993 – twenty-four years ago this Sunday.

St. Peter’s Church is near the World Trade Center; here is what they have to say about that day:

February 26, 1993, a truck loaded with bombs, parked in a public garage below the North Tower of the World Trade Center and exploded.  Terrorists set of the powerful homemade bomb by way of a twenty-foot fuse.  The blast killed six innocent civilians.  The bomb was powerful enough to create a 200 by 100 foot hole in the building.  Approximately a thousand office workers suffered smoke inhalation injuries.  One hundred and twenty four of those injured were rescue personnel.  Seventeen kindergarteners were trapped when the electrical power line was knocked out and one woman in labor was airlifted out of the area to a hospital.

The terrorists intended for the North Tower to come crashing down and topple the South Tower. Seven men have been convicted for their role in the attack but only six have been caught.

Many have forgotten the first truck bombing of the World Trade Center in the wake of 9/11.  A son of a victim in the attacks, Stephen Knapp Jr., is quoted in the New York Times:  “It started on Feb. 26, it played out on 9/11, and it is still going on now.”

Our Parish has not forgotten.  Every February, the families and friends of people who died and those who were injured, hold a memorial Mass at St. Peter’s Church.

The person credited as being the mastermind behind this evil act of islamic jihad, the so called “blind sheikh”, Omar Abdel-Rahman, died this past Saturday in prison, but he was treated to a grand funeral that was attended by thousands of admirers in Egypt:

He was convicted in the World Trade Center bombing—as well as plotting a wider “war of urban terrorism”—in 1995. His death was met with statements of mourning from al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. Meanwhile, his hometown was filled with chants of “we will defend you with blood and soul, Islam” for his funeral. “If he were a bad man, people from all over the country wouldn’t have came to attend his funeral,” said a lawyer who traveled more than 100 miles to be there.     MORE

Here  is some more information about the attack, via History.com:

In September 1992 explosives expert Ramzi Ahmed Yousef arrived in New York City on a flight from Pakistan and began planning an attack on the World Trade Center, with the alleged goal of toppling the north tower into the south tower. He received help from followers of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a blind, Egyptian-born Muslim cleric who spoke in sermons of destroying the “edifices of capitalism.” The plotters rented a storage locker in New Jersey, where they stockpiled urea, nitric acid, sulfuric acid and other ingredients for making bombs. They simultaneously concocted a nitroglycerin trigger at a nearby apartment and scouted out the World Trade Center’s underground floors.

On February 26, 1993, the plotters loaded their homemade bomb, which weighed about 1,200 pounds, into a yellow Ford Econoline van they had rented from a Ryder dealership in New Jersey. Two of them then drove it across the Hudson River into Manhattan, made their way south to the World Trade Center, entered the basement parking garage between the north tower and a hotel, parked in an illegal spot on a ramp, lit four 20-foot fuses, got into a car that had trailed them and sped off.

At 12:17 p.m. the bomb exploded, knocking out the World Trade Center’s sprinklers, generators, elevators, public address system, emergency command center and more than half of the high-voltage lines that fed electricity to the complex. The FBI later called it the “largest by weight and by damage of any improvised explosive device that we’ve seen since the inception of forensic explosive identification.” Six people died, including a pregnant woman. More than 1,000 others were injured, mostly from smoke that snaked its way up the stairwells and elevator shafts. Yet both towers remained standing.

As rescue workers dug for victims, survivors began making their way out by any means possible. A woman in a wheelchair was carried down 66 flights of stairs by two friends. A class of singing kindergartners descended from the 107th floor. A group of engineers stuck in an elevator pried open the doors and then used car keys to cut a hole in the sheetrock walls leading out to a 58th-floor women’s bathroom. Nearly 30 people with medical conditions were taken to the roof and whisked away by police helicopter. By late that night, the buildings had been completely cleared. They would not reopen for nearly a month.

Investigators sifting through the rubble soon came across the vehicle identification number for the rental van, which had been reported stolen the day before the attack. FBI agents then arrested Mohammad Salameh, who had rented the van under his own name, when he returned to the Ryder dealership to ask for his $400 deposit back. Subsequent arrests were made of Ahmad Ajaj, Nidal Ayyad and Mahmoud Abouhalima. In March 1994 a federal jury convicted the four of them for their role in the bombing, and they were each sentenced to life behind bars.

Meanwhile, authorities uncovered a related plot in which followers of Sheikh Abdel Rahman planned to blow up the George Washington Bridge, the United Nations headquarters and other New York City landmarks. In that case, the sheikh and nine co-defendants were found guilty of seditious conspiracy and other terrorism-related charges. A third case led to life sentences for Yousef, who was captured in Pakistan in 1995, and the driver of the rental van, who was captured in Jordan that same year. Only one suspect, who fled to Iraq after being questioned and released by the FBI, remains at large.

Heckuva guy, that Rahman, huh? This is who they celebrate, as our own murdered dead are largely forgotten by our country.

This Sunday, please remember: John DiGiovanni, Robert Kirkpatrick, Stephen A. Knapp, William Macko, Wilfredo Mercado, and, Monica Rodriguez Smith and her unborn child. Please remember their families, and remember all who were wounded that day as well. Please pray for an end to islamic terrorism.

Remembering Saint Scholastica

#NYCatholic: St. Peter’s Church

Through the years, I have developed a great love for the narrative portions of the Old Testament which are historical in nature.

Many Biblical scholars write that the book of Joshua (a name that means “The LORD is Salvation”) through the book of Queen Esther, marks the beginnings of the works that are known as the books of “Hebrew History.”

Moses compiled the first five books of the Old Testament known as the Pentateuch (“Penta” means 5 for the 5 scrolls or books of The LAW or The Torah) around 1440 B.C (before the birth of Christ).

Joshua was Moses’ successor and he led the twelve (12) tribes of Israel into what was called “The Promised Land.”

Modern Israel occupies a small sliver of the land originally promised to her; a land size about the length and width of the state of New Jersey.

ALMIGHTY GOD promised to His Servant Abraham (circa. 1700 B.C.?) a land of eternal inheritance (a land which is under fierce contention to this day by both Israelis and Arabs).

For a more detailed description of the boundaries of the Promised Land, I would ask that you please read the fifteenth 15th chapter of the book of Genesis.

The twelve (12) tribes of Israel had a long and illustrious history of ups and downs once they entered into the Promised Land.

The Old Testament scholar Dr. Irving Jensen described Old Testament time periods with a unique abbreviation of the letter C multiplied by a factor of 4:

  1.  CAMP (666 years) – Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and to a lesser degree Joseph are known as the Patriarchs of the Hebrew (Jewish) faith. This period includes the 400 plus years in which the Hebrew children were slaves in Egypt;
  2. COMMONWEALTH (360 years) – This is often known as the period of the Judges (Judges were Military-Governors who ruled over parts of the 12 tribes of Israel for an extended period of time…
  3. CROWN (460 years) – This time frame marks the beginning of the United Monarchy with the anointing of Saul as Israel’s first king and then David as Israel’s second king – also widely acclaimed by scholars and students of the Bible as Israel’s greatest King;
  4. CAPTIVITY (160 years) – The nation of Israel had so disobeyed The VOICE of The LORD through His Prophets and Priests that He – The LORD – allowed the United Kingdom to be fragmented into 2 separate Kingdoms:

The Northern Kingdom known as Israel consisted of the ten (10) most Northern tribes, and,

The Southern Kingdom known as Judah was composed of two (2) tribes: JUDAH and BENJAMIN.

During the time period when the Northern and Southern tribes were split, there was a colorful “military commander” who ascended to the throne of the northern kingdom known as “JEHU.”

The name “JEHU” means, “JEHOVAH IS HE…

Unlike so many names given to children in our culture, the Jewish people – as well as many Christians in the Catholic Tradition – place a premium on prayerfully considering the names of their offspring.

[As an aside:  I live in Atlanta, GA area and many of our children have colorful and unique names… to say the least.]

Let us look at a small segment of Holy Scripture to get a description of this man named “Jehu.”

JEHU: JEHU RECEIVES HIS ANOINTING AND COMMISSION

Old Testament Book 2 Kings 9 – New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

1 Then the prophet Elisha called a member of the company of prophets and said to him, “Gird up your loins; take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead.

2 When you arrive, look there for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi; go in and get him to leave his companions, and take him into an inner chamber.

3 Then take the flask of oil, pour it on his head, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord: I anoint you king over Israel.’ Then open the door and flee; do not linger.”

4 So the young man, the young prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead.

5 He arrived while the commanders of the army were in council, and he announced, “I have a message for you, commander.” “For which one of us?” asked Jehu. “For you, commander.”

6 So Jehu got up and went inside; the young man poured the oil on his head, saying to him, “Thus says the Lord the God of Israel: I anoint you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

7 You shall strike down the house of your master Ahab, so that I may avenge on Jezebel the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord.

8 For the whole house of Ahab shall perish; I will cut off from Ahab every male, bond or free, in Israel.

9 I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.

10 The dogs shall eat Jezebel in the territory of Jezreel, and no one shall bury her.” Then he opened the door and fled.

My Goodness!!!

What a Commission and what a Divine Mandate!!!

JEHU’S BACKGROUND

  • JEHU was a Military Commander who inspired fear…
  • JEHU possessed crude manners (a gross understatement!)
  • JEHU practiced scorched earth principles – – he was sent on a Divine mission to execute “the Wrath of The LORD” against the evil house of King Ahab…
  • JEHU employed an Authoritarian leadership style; it was interesting negotiating with JEHU!
  • JEHU could easily compared to some of the great Generals of history and/or the 20th century (Generals George Patton, Wilbert Montgomery, Dwight D. Eisenhower, et cetera comes to mind).

JEHU SUCCEEDS

Please continue to read on through the book of 2 Kings beginning with the ninth (9th) chapter and you will see that JEHU successfully completed his Divine Mandate.

Now, most Biblical Scholars if forced to grade JEHU will state that they admire his “zeal for The LORD of Hosts,” but a total evaluation of his kingship would yield him a mediocre grade.

Back in March of 2016  I wrote an essay lamenting the fact that we are about to witness the nomination and coronation of two individuals of questionable character:

o Madame Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton…

o Billionaire Esquire Donald Trump…

Our nation elected Mr. Donald Trump as our President; he was sworn into office on January 20, 2017.

In many ways, our new President is in the “spirit of JEHU!”

What will arise of his Presidency?

In the Old Testament narratives, we see that Almighty GOD used great men such as King David and great women such as Deborah [she was a Military-Governor who ruled during the time of the Judges] to bring peace, goodness, prosperity, and safety to His people.

On the other hand, The LORD uses many “unsavory figures” to carry out and execute His will.

Question:  My Friends, are you praying daily for President Donald Trump, our Congress, and for our Supreme Court and for State and Local Level Magistrates regardless of party affiliation?

The Holy Bible instructs and commands believers to Pray for ALL those in positions of authority.

1 Timothy 2:1-6 – (NRSVCE)

Instructions concerning Prayer

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone,

2 for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.

3 This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

4 who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human,

6 who gave himself a ransom for all —this was attested at the right time.

One of the ways that Almighty GOD can deliver a degree of peace, justice, and stability to a nation is through the administration of government by men and women of honesty and integrity.

May GOD Richly Bless All of YOU!

If, as the Washington Post says, “Democracy Dies in Darkness”, the media should get a lot of the credit for dimming the lights. Not for simply making up stories out of whole cloth (remember the “hacked power grid” story that turned out to be one laptop with malware?), but also by omitting or ignoring pertinent information.

Here are two examples just this week:

Story #1:

Ed Price wrote an op-ed for the WaPo,  I didn’t think I’d ever leave the CIA. But because of Trump, I quit,

“To be clear, my decision had nothing to do with politics”

As it turns out, Price is not only a registered Democrat who donated $5,000 to Hillary, he was the top spokesman and a senior director for Obama’s National Security Council, and worked to spin both the Iranian deal and the hostages story:

Unmentioned by Price or the Washington Post is the fact that Price gave $5,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee that splits contributions between the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Public records indicate that Price is registered to vote as a Democrat in the District of Columbia.

Price rose through the ranks at the White House during the Obama administration. By the end of the administration, Price was the top spokesman and a senior director for Obama’s National Security Council.

Price reportedly worked hand in hand with Obama’s deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes in his effort to create an “echo chamber” during the administration’s nuclear negotiations with Iran.

When the news broke that Iran was holding American hostages in the lead-up to Obama’s 2016 State of the Union address, for example, it was Price who was ordered by Rhodes to begin spinning the administration’s “well-cultivated network of officials,” according to David Samuels of the New York Times.

Yet the WaPo went along with his assertion “To be clear, my decision had nothing to do with politics,” later adding a clarification that started with “This column should have included a disclosure of donations.”

Donations indeed.

Story #2:

At The Atlantic, Rumana Ahmed wrote, I Was a Muslim in Trump’s White House. When President Obama left, I stayed on at the National Security Council in order to serve my country. I lasted eight days. The short version is that for over five years Ahmed worked at National Security Council (again) under Ben Rhodes (again) in the Obama administration, and quit after Pres. Trump took office.

Of course, The Atlantic and the WaPo may not get as many readers if the headlines read, “I quit when Trump took office after years of working for Obama.”

Never mind that would be more honest.

Need we ask,

Before we get too far along here … is everyone who quits their government gig during the transition from one administration to the next going to write an essay about it?

The answer appears to be yes – and what’s worse, as the Twitchy headline said, it’s possible that the movies may be in the works.

UPDATE
Linked to by The Other McCain. Thank you!

Fausta Rodríguez Wertz posts on U.S. and Latin America at Fausta’s blog.

The consultants were only good at soaking up money

Now repeating the media as enemy of the people, press not happy

Let them say it to my face, let there be no more “sources” names

we are a nation that will put our own citizens first

we’re going to build the wall don’t worry about it, it’s going to start soon

All I’ve done is keep my promise

Obamacare doesn’t work folks.

We’re going to make it better much better (uh oh That line might come back to bite him)

We’re going to repeal and replace Obamacare (That might save the day)

Update:

The era of empty talk is over (I wish you could see the press around me)

(talks about dollars to be saved to be spent to rebuild America) …Including our inner cities.

We will support the incredible men and women of law enforcement

We’re going to make trade deals one on one and if they misbehave we’re going to drop them.

We’re going to give Americans access to quality healthcare that they deserve

If they want a pipeline in the United States they are going to use pipe made in the United States.

We don’t need 75% of the repetitive regulations that hurt companies and hurt jobs.

[Would you believe a guy from TBS asked me if I had solitaire on my computer and asked me to bring it up so he could get a shot of someone playing solitaire during Trump’s speech. HOW DARE HE! HOW DARE HE EXPECT ME TO SET UP A PHONY SHOT FOR A PHONY MEME! That’s so dishonorable!]

We are going to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of this country (crowd goes wild)

The GOP will be from now on, the party of the American Worker.

[just went and told Cynthia Yockey, Kurt Schlichter and Stephen Kruser so when you see it on TBS and Samantha Bee’s show, you know it’s BS]

I’m not representing the globe I’m representing your country.

We’re all totally equal in the eyes of Almighty God. [I applauded there]

As long as we have faith in each other and trust in God there is nothing we can’t accomplish. (last word might have been achieved)

I headed back to the room after the Kellyanne Conway to inform WQPH of the situation with their Divine Mercy Sunday event when Cynthia Yockey informed me that there was supposed to be a blogger get together event “rinocon” at the public house down the street. She wanted to attend so the two of us headed down. That story was told in yesterday’s lead post concerning the interview with Joe.

As the promised gaggle didn’t materialize (turned out they would do so VERY much later) we headed to CVS to pick up a few things before heading back to the room. I decided to by a 12 pack of A&W diet Rootbeer, among other things and oddly enough that decision led to one of the most interesting interviews I ever recorded.

Both of us being tired, still wondering when and if Stacy & Emmile would show up and me with video to upload, we headed back to the room. As we passed the entrance way there was a young rather stunningly statuesque black woman there along with John Hawkings. She immediately noticed I had a case of A & W rootbeer and expressed an interest in a can.

Being a gentleman I of course accommodated the request, she introduced herself a Kira Innis and consented to an interview and what an interview it was!

Instead of the standard 3-5 minutes she went on for 13, talking about the black community, the history of slavery and how the Democrats had historically oppressed and attacked them to keep them down from Slavery to Jim Crow to abortion and the great society which destroyed the black family that had been the bedrock of the community.

I was completely enthralled, amazed at the knowledge and passion of the young lady. Fifteen minutes late the interview finally closed and I offered her cannoli but because we had gone to a restaurant I had left my box behind in the room. She came up with us to claim her prize and we talked some more. While I suspected I hadn’t known when we started to talk that she was part of the well known Innis family.

She was a pleasure to meet and talk. If the black community ever climbs out of the hole that the Democrat party in general and Barack Obama in particular has dug for them, it’s going to be young people like her leading the way!
