Cause and Effect Jeff Flake Edition Plus an eternal truth.

A few days ago reports of Arizona Senator Jeff Flake hits on Donald Trump were all over the media.

The Washington Post:

Trump is a ‘crony capitalist,’ says GOP Senator Flake

CNN:

In Arizona, it’s Flake vs. Trump in a test of the GOP’s allegiances

Politico:

Flake makes waves with Trump takedown

As you might guess said attacks drew approval from the MSM as he declared:

Here’s Trump nemesis and nationalist scourge Jeff Flake telling Jake Tapper yesterday about his criticism of the president, “Some things are more important than a political career.”

It’s a good thing he feels that way because via the Hill we can see the fruits of his efforts:

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) has a job approval rating of only 18 percent in Arizona, according to a new poll.

A survey from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling finds 62 percent of Arizona voters disapprove of the job the senator is doing. Another 19 percent are not sure.

If the 2018 midterm election were held today, just 31 percent of respondents said they would support Flake’s bid, compared to 47 percent who said they would support a generic Democratic opponent, according to the poll.

Democrats being democrats are of course spinning this as a result of not voting with John McCain to retain Obamacare but this simply illustrates a reality that for some reason establishment GOP members have not grasped.

If you are a republican who will attack republicans in general and a republican president in particular, the Democrat left will complement you, the Democrat media will interview you, the Democrat pundits will highlight you, and Democrat members of congress will call you “courageous” and “bipartisan”.

But there are two things they will never do.

They will never endorse you, and they will never vote for you.

And no matter how much you claim to be the true voice dedicated to advancing conservatism, alienating part of the GOP base so that Democrats win won’t get it done.
