If you're sick of liberals hiding behind the media, do something about it

There are actually two major problems today between liberals and their puppets in mainstream media. On one hand, we have leftists hiding behind the media as their journalistic shields. On the other hand, we have the media willfully covering up for leftists by spinning stories that expose the left, not reporting them at all, and/or highlighting every potential misstep by conservatives. They are not the same thing but must be addressed the same way.

I often read stories complaining about this phenomenon. They throw up statistics, count the number of minutes given to one story instead of another story on network news, and generally gripe about how unfair it is. There are certain things that need to be done if we’re going to fix this problem. I’ve broken them down into a three step process:

  1. Accept it. Mainstream media with very few exceptions leans left and will likely always lean left for the rest of our natural lives. It’s time to accept this as fact. Accepting it does not mean we shouldn’t speak out about it nor does it mean we need to give up. If we accept that the cards are stacked against us, we can quell the frustration that comes with every leftist-leaning headline. More importantly, we can plan accordingly.
  2. Spend time here. One of the reasons I love writing for Peter here at DaTechGuy Blog is because I can count on an audience that’s right-leaning. I’m a small-government federalist, a social conservative, and a constitutionalist. These three things mean I won’t make many liberals happy with anything I write. It’s important that we band together as an audience and support sites like this, RedState, Conservative Review, and my newest foray into conservative media, NOQ Report. It’s tempting for some to go to Google News, CNN, or even more moderate Fox News for the skinny on what’s happening in the world. I humbly request that you come to sites like this one first.
  3. Spread the word. We all have a louder voice than we did before the internet. With social media at our fingertips and word-of-mouth that we can use at work and other venues, we can get more people to read stories from sites like this before getting the leftist spin on mainstream media. The more we share, the easier it will be to keep sites like this one thriving. Just as some are boycotting the NFL or Hollywood, so too should we be boycotting the sites that actively promote the progressive agenda.

It bugs me when I see the same people complaining about how liberal mainstream media is go off and share mainstream media stories on social media. Those same stories without the liberal spin can be found on conservative sites. It takes a little more effort to find the stories sometimes, but it’s worth it rather than continuing to send people to the “big” sites.

The battle for the future of America can only be fought with two weapons: faith and knowledge. Pray for the nation. Then, help spread the word about sites like this one so we can get more Americans reading the truth rather than the leftist-filtered mainstream media garbage most people read.
