Canada to Haitians in Miami: "Come to Canada Illegally & We'll Deport you to your Shithole Country"

We’ve written about Canada’s sudden discovery that illegal immigration isn’t good for a country when people in the US illegally decided to do what Hollywood stars didn’t and moved to Canada.

Well via Drudge the NYT has an interesting piece on the subject titled Migrants Fleeing to Canada Learn Even a Liberal Nation Has Limits that’s really worth a read.

They of course take the time to hit Trump not only for his remarks but for actually treating “Temporary” status granted groups after disasters as actually temporary, it is the Times after all but there is a little passage there that unintentionally gives the left’s game away (which might explain why Alex Reamer of WEEI is suddenly calling it too Pro-Trump for his tastes) concerning Haiti ex/all: (all emphasis mine)

In what appeared to be an effort to dispel false hope among would-be immigrants and help stem an influx, Pablo Rodriguez, a Liberal member of Parliament who was born in Argentina, will be traveling to Los Angeles next week to meet with members of the Hispanic community there to explain the limits of Canadian asylum policy.

On an earlier trip there, he sought to counter false media reports in the Latin American press that he said were suggesting that migrants could travel to Canada, “walk in and stay forever.”

Earlier this summer, the government also sent Emmanuel Dubourg, a Liberal Haitian-Canadian member of Parliament from Montréal, to Miami’s “Little Haiti” to spread the word that getting asylum in Canada was difficult. “People come here and realize that this is not the Promised Land and that they could be deported back to Haiti,” he said in an interview.

So let me get this straight, Canada along with a lot of other liberal places are upset with the suggestion that Haiti is a shithole, or that any other country might be, while at the same time officially sending members of the government to make sure Haitians and anyone else thinking of illegally entering Canada that if they do, they risk Canada sending them back to the shithole that they came from.

It other words it is the opinion of Canada that the threat of being sent back to their home countries will be so effective that they’ve sent officials from their government to make that point.

I wonder why?

Earlier this summer, the government also sent Emmanuel Dubourg, a Liberal Haitian-Canadian member of Parliament from Montreal, to Miami’s “Little Haiti” to spread the word that getting asylum in Canada was difficult.
