One Ring to rule them all.

With Louis Farrakhan’s well-known anti-Semitism, hatred of whites, and alliance with the Women’s March and the Congressional Black Caucus being in the news, I am reminded of something startling that I talked about back in 2012.

When I was on my way to church this morning, I saw something very interesting near my house.

The “Church” of Scientology has been building centers in and around South Central Los Angeles and in Inglewood — something that had previously been unheard of. Today, being Fathers’ Day, I guess there was some big event at the center near me.  But guess which organization was celebrating the day with them? The Nation of Islam.  FOI, bean pies, and white “garments” (similar to burkas) all over the place!

Did a little research when I got home.  There isn’t much to go on, but one website reports that, back in 2009, Louis Farrakhan said that there was some sort of “marriage” between the two organizations.  Marriage, eh? One wonders who will get to be on top in the end.

(I recall getting a funny look when one of the FOI tried to give me an unsuccessful hard-sell on a bean pie. Yes, I recall that they are delicious, but I can’t in good conscience give my money to that organization.)

A “marriage?” Between those two? Bizarre doesn’t begin to describe it.

I don’t live in that house anymore and, therefore haven’t had an up-close view of the evolution of this relationship. So, let’s see what’s out there. Continue reading “These are Some Really Strange Bedfellows”

Thus grief still treads upon the heels of pleasure:
Married in haste, we may repent at leisure.

The Old Batchelour, 1693:

One of the biggest mistakes people make in marriage is haste. A trip to Vegas, or a rush to a Justice of the peace and suddenly you are in a legal relationship whose failure can cost you plenty.

A long engagement means that you get time to know each other, to spend time with each other, to see how others react in a crisis, to test your judgement. It also gives time to see how you act in conflict because conflicts WILL arise and you need to see how these will be handled.

Now by a long engagement I don’t mean living together, While that does provide some preview of coming events it becomes very easy to fall into the “it’s just a piece of paper” trap, which I will address in a future tip.

In the catholic Church there are meetings and marriage preparation that take place, these allows you to consider things that you have not advised by a person who deals with families every day and has seen marriages work and fail. This is an invaluable tool and a long engagement gives time for it to be used.

Additionally a long engagement give extra time to plan the Wedding date to maximize the chance of distant guests to attend, to give wiggle room in case an issue comes up and to be sure that your Wedding day is a memorable one.

The idea is to have a single wedding day in one’s lifetime, so take the time to make it a good one and it will help make it last.

The Haikou during RIMPAC 2014. U.S Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Manda M. Emery, from Wikipedia

It wasn’t too long ago that the US invited China to participate in the RIMPAC Naval Exercise. It was pretty amazing to see Chinese warships, including the Type 052 destroyer Haikou, at the Pearl Harbor Naval Station. Access to the Naval Station included allowing foreign Sailors to purchase items from the Naval Exchange. The exchange had a massive boom in sales, such that they even chartered a bus to move Sailors back and forth.

When I walked into the NEX I saw the normal purchases of alcohol, cigars, Hawaiian food and the like. I was really surprised to see Chinese Sailors purchasing baby formula. I was absolutely baffled, so I walked over and asked one of them why. He explained that he planned to sell it at home, because nobody trusted Chinese-made baby formula.

Daniels via Wikipedia Mitt via my 2012 campaign coverage

…Then the media offensive might have a prayer of doing what they want it to do, bring down a GOP president.

You see Mitt Romney has a history of an image of a good family man, a man of high (personal NOT POLITICAL) moral standards and character so if it turned out that he had been boinking “A” or even “B” list porn stars on the side it would be real John Edwards Class Scandal that the MSM would pursue with much more vigor than they did the Edwards tale.

But alas for the MSM Donald Trump is not Mitt Romney.

If 30 years ago, 20 years ago, 10 years ago, hell even 5 years ago somebody told you that thrice married and twice divorced billionaire Donald Trump had banged a porn star and had arranged a side agreement to prevent it from coming out would any of you have been surprised or interested? I mean there is a reason why InTouch magazine didn’t bother to run that story way back when.

Who Donald Trump was before he ran was baked into voters, including evangelical voters, calculations when they voted for him. As I said at the time of my lonely re-endorsement when the billy Bush tape came out

To those who have endorsed Donald Trump, the idea that he is both boastful and vulgar has been a given, it has been factored into the equation concerning him. Furthermore his public persona has been out there for decades and he has never pretended to be anything other than what he is. I further suspect the voting public has already factored this into their image of Trump and it is unlikely that this revelation is going to move those who haven’t made up their minds one way or the other despite the shocked faces at CNN.

That the MSM hasn’t figured this out yet amazes me, that the NYT is selling this as a scandal that could bring down President Trump is laughable, that Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have gone so far as to claim that the potential Kim negotiations are a ploy to distract from this story stupefies me and causes fellow never Trumper and Stormy Daniels story enthusiast Allahpundit at Hotair to suggest he has brain damage.

But by all means MSM do keep playing this card and convince voters of the left that this will bring down Trump any day now. The resulting disappointment should have laudable effects in disheartening your base.
