DaTechGuy: Mr. Trump hundreds of people were waiting in line to see you today, and another 120 were waiting without tickets I interviewed a bunch of them and there were democrats who were crossing over and such. What are they seeing that the GOP establishment and some of the people in this room might not be seeing?
Donald Trump: I love that question.
If you are a regular listener to the MSM you might find yourself confused that despite every single one of Trump’s Endorsed candidates winning yesterday the media is portraying the results as signs of doom for the GOP.
Part of this of course is because as Democrats with bylines their primary purpose is to aid the Democrats and liberals in general and defeat republicans and conservative so having already decided on the narrative of doom and despair for the President and the GOP they were going to proclaim it as gospel.
After all they weren’t about to let a little thing like the actual results get in the way.
Crazy stat: @NRCC has won more special elections in the 2018 cycle than any cycle in their history.

However in fairness there is a smidgen of truth hidden in their narrative. By every normal standard the GOP should be in trouble. Because of the big red wave in 2010 and 2014 in the house and thanks to the Trump victory in 2016 there are a lot of GOP seats to be defended in districts a lot less red than these. By any reasonable standard even with favorable maps drawn after the 2010 census the left should be able to pick up quite a few of them, perhaps even enough to take back the house.
But there is a wild card in play and that wild card is Donald Trump and the people who turn out for him.
The Trump base aren’t the activists who would normally turn out anyway for the GOP his base are people who would not normally be bothered with general elections let alone midterms. This has been true from day one
This is insane. Long lines at the entrance to see Donald Trump’s town hall in Derry, NH. pic.twitter.com/clD7bBK9mn

Many of them aren’t republicans at all as I noted the very first time I asked candidate Trump a question at a news conference.
It is these voters who normally would not even notice a special election like the ones going on who turned out for Trump.
At the very first event that I covered Donald Trump at I asked this question:
It will be interesting to see what happens with his next event in the state? Will it draw a different audience, will familiar political faces (that I didn’t see many of here) show up, or will it basically be “Trump Groupies”
We now know the answer. Trump turned out a different audience that was enough to win in 2016 and may be enough to save the GOP in 2018.
Lucky for the GOP candidates in marginal districts they don’t have to count on the GOP leadership to figure this out. Donald Trump is smart enough to understand this and with his agenda at stake will undoubtedly do his best to get his voters out in marginal districts to make the difference.
Expect to see a lot more rallies like the ones held last week over the next three months as Trump does what he does best, Win!
