SHREVEPORT – We have some pretty important elections coming up in Louisiana but all anyone is really talking about is LSU v Alabama coming up this weekend.

We love our college football down here.

It’s been nearly seven years since LSU beat Alabama in a 9-6 defensive struggle between the two powerhouse teams.  And frankly, LSU can’t seem to get Alabama out of their heads; the struggle is real.

Plus we still grapple with the Nick Saban issue.  Even though Saban did not leave LSU to go to Alabama, (he went to the NFL first), he ended up there, and that still stings.

We loved Saban when he was at LSU but now we hate him because he is with the enemy.

Adding to the game day frenzy this weekend will the ESPN’s GameDay which will broadcast from LSU campus Saturday morning.  With a 7 p.m. kickoff, there’s going to be some serious tail gait action happening.

The Advocate suggests this is not a good thing:

While having the show may be a point of pride for Tiger football fans, it isn’t necessarily good luck. While LSU is 15-11 when “College Game Day” is on site, the Tigers have lost seven of their last eight such games, including an 0-4 mark against Alabama.

And the sports writers are having a field day with this matchup:

Obviously, Alabama has been good for most of Nick Saban’s tenure, but this Crimson Tide unit (8-0) looks like the Death Star, cruising through space and pulverizing planets as it goes.

They’re not wrong.

Alabama is tough.

But we are LSU!

And no matter what happens, I still bleed purple and gold.

Go Tigers!

And hey, go vote.
