[I]t is now taken for granted that Christmas markets across Europe have to be held behind the ugly throttling barriers of “security” – which as we saw yesterday are, ultimately, never secure.
Because we [sic] won’t put up security barriers where they count – at the nation’s border – we have to have ever more intrusive and constricting security on everything within the border. (…)
[T]he men and women who govern us refuse to change the policies that enable Yuletide slaughter, and their citizens continue to vote for them. And so Strasbourg’s mayor Roland Ries says that “life must go on” – which fatuous bromide ensures that the killing of his citizens will go on. Because he and the rest of a depraved political class lack the will to do anything about it.
The attack occurred on Tuesday and the shooter was a guy named Cherif Chekatt. He killed four people and injured 13; one of the latter is brain dead. The police killed him.
He was heard to shout a familiar sentiment during the attack and it wasn’t “Merry Christmas” or even “Happy Holidays.” He had been on France’s list of those who bear watching. They never check that list twice.
After reading about this and ongoing the tax riots that are taking place in Paris, I started wondering how many mass attacks have been carried out in France in recent years. Let’s go with three.
In 2015, there were 6.
With this year being almost over, there have been relatively few; only 3. And, between the turn of the century and 2015, attacks were much farther in between. (In contrast, the late 20th century seems to have been the heyday for Islamic terrorism in France.)
I’m not see a ramp-up pattern, but, like Mark, I’m wondering what will be the final state of Christmas Markets in the countries which have followed the EU mandate that member nations are to “allow” persons from Islamic countries to seek refuge.
The EU honchos knew — from experience — that periodic terror attacks would be part of their refugee mandate. I contend that this is a feature and not a bug in their plan. They don’t “lack the will” to do anything about it; what we are seeing is their will.
The Christmas Markets will disappear, as will all the other even nominal acknowledgments to the God of the Bible. For whatever reason, the EU wants to become an Islamic state.
Who’s taking bets on when NATO will disintegrate and the EU will adopt Sharia Law? I’d start a pool — if I weren’t so sad about the relatively short time that Western Europe had between the end of WWII and the break-up of the Soviet Union.
Normal European citizens will look back on the era as the Golden Years. Cold Wars are better than hot ones.
