If only the Knights of Columbus were a Muslim organization instead of a Catholic one…

…then their religious beliefs would not mean that in Democrat eyes they are unworthy of public service .

A judicial nominee faced questions from Senators this month about whether membership in the Knights of Columbus might impede his ability to judge federal cases fairly. The Knights of Columbus say that no candidate for public office should have to defend his membership in a Catholic service organization.

Senators Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) raised concerns about membership in the Knights of Columbus while the Senate Judiciary Committee reviewed the candidacy of Brian C. Buescher, an Omaha-based lawyer nominated by President Trump to sit on the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.

Senators also asked whether belonging to the Catholic charitable organization could prevent judges from hearing cases “fairly and impartially.”

In written questions sent to Buescher by committee members Dec. 5, Sen. Hirono stated that “the Knights of Columbus has taken a number of extreme positions. For example, it was reportedly one of the top contributors to California’s Proposition 8 campaign to ban same-sex marriage.”

Hirono then asked Buescher if he would quit the group if he was confirmed “to avoid any appearance of bias.

I’ll wager that if you go into the history of the Democrat party you’ll find an awful lot of Knights of Columbus members (Could you imagine Nancy Pelosi’s dad or Tip O’Neil denouncing the Knights?) but this is the modern Democrat party and in this brand new version of the party if you are a believing Catholic you are the enemy.

For myself I don’t like the fact that the judge dodged the question, he should proudly defend his Catholic faith while noting that he will operate within the bound of the law, but that’s me.

Some of us saw this coming decades ago but in fairness Christ saw it coming long before us.

If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sen
t me.

John 15:18-21

I wonder what faithful Catholic Hispanic Knights would say about this. If I was the GOP I’d make it a point to ask them on camera.

Update: Instalanche, ,a great gift for the 2nd day of Christmas. Hi all, take a look around, may I point out that there are twelve days to Christmas and my book Hail Mary the Perfect Protestant (and Catholic) Prayer makes a great late Christmas gift.

I also should include the following mea culpa by pointing out to new visitors what regular readers likely already know, I am a 3rd Degree Knight and both of my sons are Knights as well. I should have put that in the base piece my bad.

Now that I think of it the Democrat mayor of my city is a Knight too and I suspect a lot of Democrats officials in Pennsylvania and Connecticut (the home of the knights) and around the nation are. No wonder these ladies waited till after the election to do this.

Update 2: Is feast of St. Stephen on the 2nd day of Christmas is a preview of coming attractions for American Christians?
