Happiness is not noticing the Government is Shutdown

A bit back I was reading a paper from I forget if it was 1699 or 1701 about Pennsylvania as a paradise for the common man because of the lack of government. As I ponder the government shutdown that piece leaped to mind.

If you are a person who is dependent on the government who does not know independence a shutdown is a disaster. Where will all the things we need come from? You become like a child dependent on your parents, which frankly is the state we are born in, helpless, and it’s in that helplessness that others find power.

But if you have been taught the old American ways, the ways of the World War Two generation and before. The ways some Americans still know the government shutdown will be at worst a minor annoyance and at best something you won’t even notice.

As of today I haven’t noticed it myself. May you grow not to notice it too. It would be a fine present for the 4th Day of Christmas
