Fifth Day of Christmas Under the Fedora: US Troops, Polish Troops, IDF Troops, College Free Speech Troops and Slade Trooping on

I took a peek at Twitter yesterday and saw this from Baldilocks

There was a time when I might have been outraged as well. But with ten years of watching the media be what they are I can’t muster any outrage because outrage requires failing one’s exceptions and I don’t expect anything better from them.

It’s been said that the best way to ensure peace is to make sure you’re ready for war. While the rest of the west seems to forgotten this truth the Poles have not:

We have decided to form a fourth division east of the Vistula river. The whole process will take approximately three years with the perspective of the division’s full operational capability in spring 2021.

As CDR Salamander notes:

Imagine if each NATO nation took a comparable move relative to their size. You want to strengthen the alliance? That is how you strengthen the alliance.

Amazing what a country can do if it clings to their guns and bibles.

Israel isn’t much on bibles (at least not the New Testament) but when it come to soldiering on to protect their state from terrorists like Hezbollah in Lebanon nobody does it like the IDF:

The IDF has destroyed another attack tunnel infiltrating Israel from Lebanon as part of Operation Northern Shield.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that its soldiers located the tunnel a few days ago and carried out the destruction on Wednesday.

This marks the fifth tunnel that was demolished since the start of the operation on December 4.

According to the spokesperson’s statement, the tunnel originated in the Shi’ite village of Ayta-Shayeb in Lebanon and crossed into Israeli territory. It was destroyed with an explosive device. A notice was sent to the heads of the relevant authorities and to United Nations peacekeepers from UNIFIL, the statement added.

In addition to the confirmation by the UN of the tunnels existence the IDF provided some fun video of Hezbollah types fleeing as the cement they filled the tunnels oozed out on the Lebanon side of it revealing it’s position

No military grasps social media better and uses it more effectively that the IDF.

Speaking of what you can do if you are willing to fight a group of college students have decided to take the fight to the campus over student fees:

A conservative student group is suing the University of Florida over a mandatory student fee policy that allegedly discriminates based on viewpoints.

UF’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter alleged that the school violates the First Amendment in its funding of student groups, according to a lawsuit filed Friday. Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian conservative nonprofit, is representing the student group
“State universities are uniquely expected to be a free marketplace of ideas, not an assembly line for one type of thought,” ADF Legal Counsel Blake Meadows said in the nonprofit’s
news release.

I predict this suit will become something of a cause celebe for the left for the reason stated by Glenn Reynolds in his link to this piece:Student activity fees support — by design — an entire lefty ecosystem of speakers, documentarians, etc. That money was never meant to be shared out equally. ” If this suit is successful they will be multiplied 1000 fold so expect it to be fought tooth and nail.

The song Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade remains the most popular and recognized Christmas song in England but I’ve never heard it played in the US. That’s impressive but not as impressive as this video of a live concert in Israel:

Slade premiered in the 1960’s. That live concert is from last month, lead guitarist Dave Hill and drummer Don Powel have been there for the whole ride. Not bad for a couple of 70’s year olds.

“State universities are uniquely expected to be a free marketplace of ideas, not an assembly line for one type of thought,” ADF Legal Counsel Blake Meadows said in the nonprofit’s
news release
