One of the things that define MSM bias are the stories that they consider “local” news and the stories that they define as national news.

For example the new year in Baltimore began with the continuation of what has to be the bleakest New Year tradition of any city in the nation:

Baltimore ended 2018 with 309 murders in the city, down from 342 in 2017.
The lists starts with a 16-year-old and ends with a 17-year-old who was killed a couple of hours before the new year.
The teen was shot around 10:03 p.m. on New Year’s Eve in the 4500 block of Green Rose Lane.
Every year, families and community activists gather on New Year’s Day to read the names of the city’s murder victims.

The 16 year old who began that list was a teen named Andre Galloway. If you do a search of Google News under his name you will find two stories from the Baltimore sun (Dec 31st March and May 30th) two on Jan 2 2018 one from Fox Baltimore and one from CBS Baltimore and one from WBAL also on May 30th. You won’t find entries from CNN, MSNBC, NBC ABC the NYT or the national CBS site listed. That there were hundreds of such homicides in Baltimore last year that are a source of terror to poor and black neighborhoods is a national disgrace.

But because the source of said terror and murder are drug gangs who are also primarily black and Hispanic this national disgrace is considered a local story and generally ignored by national media because to report on such crime does not advance the agenda of the left and given the debate on a boarder wall might harm said agenda.

And that brings us to Jazmine Barnes a little girl killed in a drive by shooting in Houston.

Now considering that Jazmine Barnes was killed by two black men in a drive by shooting involving gangs you might expect the results of a google news search to be similar to that of young Mr. Galloway, but a search of google news produces results from ABC , USA Today CBS News the Huffington Post , Washington Post, the New York times and so many results from CNN that I went to their site and searched and came up with 25 results as of 2:29 PM Jan 8th

That Jasmine Barnes seven year old life was cut down by a drive by gang related shooting in Houston is rightly considered a horrific disgrace, but what made her murder newsworthy to the national media when Andre Galloway’s was not were the initial reports that witnesses, including her mother wounded in the shooting (ironically a facebook friend of the actual shooter) claimed the shooter was a white man. This allowed the media to declare this a racial crime and all of the usual suspect came out to point to this shooting as emblematic of racism in Trump’s America.

Thus the story became national news, celebrities pontificated and media opined on racial divisions and I think it’s not inaccurate to say that one of the reasons why the perps of this horrible crime were apprehended in such a timely fashion was because of the MSM attention, which we can all agree is a fine thing.

It just so happened that to the MSM’s disappointment said killers didn’t fit the desired meme they were advancing, however as the story was already so heavily promoted nationally the news media could not avoid fact that didn’t work with said meme. I suspect Stacy McCain’s prediction and analysts will prove correct

So the “white killer” angle that made this story a subject of “nationwide attention” was false, and now the media that exploited the death of Jazmine Barnes to gin up a firestorm of racial fear will now drop the story entirely.
Houston ranks 22nd on
the list of most dangerous cities in America, with 269 homicides in 2017. The top five most dangerous cities:
1. St. Louis
2. Detroit
3. Baltimore
4. Memphis
5. Kansas City
In 2017, those cities reported a combined total of 1,145 homicides. How many of those crimes “captured national attention”? You see the national media do not randomly pick murders as newsworthy. They believed the shooting of Jazmine Barnes might be evidence of a surge of right-wing white supremacist hate crime that they could blame on President Trump and, now that this angle has proven false … never mind.

It’s a good thing that justice will be served in the Jazmine Barnes case even if the media as Stacy McCain suggests will hold no further national discussion on the case which will as of this week be demoted to a local crime story of no more national interest than the murder of young Andre Galloway whose crime remains unsolved and whose murder remain unworthy of the attention of the MSM

Unexpectedly of course

They believed the shooting of Jazmine Barnes might be evidence of a surge of right-wing white supremacist hate crime that they could blame on President Trump and, now that this angle has proven false . . . never mind.
