One Point Sarah Hoyt’s “New Tea Party” Post Linked at Instapundit

I read this story that Sarah Hoyt linked at her overnight Instapundit stint (btw one of the great invocations at the site that I look forward to regularly) a bit ago and while the piece at the declination referring to what is happening in France is the “New Tea Party” is a natural comparison I’d like to clarify an important point that the ignorant and young miss

While the comparison with the actual Boston tea party of 1773 is apt

Like the protests that culminated in the Boston Tea Party, the Speed Cameras are, in effect, a tax on the non-connected citizen. It would be sweet to organize some teams to swoop in, disable or destroy the cameras, and quickly leave. I imagine that, even if the perps were found and tried, a jury of citizens might well use nullification to free them.

and the people involved have much in common with the modern teaparty protests

The French Yellow Vest protests are filled with working people. They take place, largely, on the weekends. Huge numbers of average Frenchmen and women, angered at their treatment by their own government, are taking action.

There is one huge difference. Democrat and media BS not withstanding not only was violence and vandalism unheard of at Tea Party events in the US (although that you couldn’t say that about the whole Occupy wall street business) but Tea Party Protesters regularly not only after themselves but after the counter protesters who would leave a mess behind them.

Just keep this in mind when someone tries to rewrite the history of the Tea Party in the US

Incidentally I know this should have been up a bit ago but life is a busy thing and this has bugged me for a week.

On Manufactured Outrage

Every day some facet of American culture will bear the brunt of media attention. There will be protests, and riots, and celebrities opining on the oppresiveness of whatever thing has aroused their wrath. We will discover, perhaps for the first time, or perhaps for the ten-thousandth, that someone or something…

Britain, Italy, Austria, now France. WOW.
I wonder when Belgium, Holland, Ireland, Portugal and Spain will wake up?
I also wonder if Scandinavia and Germany will ever come to their senses.See this article about what recently happened at a daycare center in Olso, Norway:
https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/understanding-ourselves-to-death/The daycare instructor/supervisor and the city supervisor who approved the activity should both be tarred and feathered.Reply

I don’t think the elite are worried. I suspect their reaction WW is much more along the lines of “How DARE the Normals dare to think they know better! Why, the EFFRONTERY! Who do they think they are, questioning their betters?”It’s as if they never heard of the French Revolution.Reply
    • Michel Maioranae on January 16, 2019 at 9:22 pmMaybe the yellow vests need a visual aid to get the point across. Perhaps a magicians guillotine towed in on a trailer would get the point across. If that doesn’t work they can always bring a real one next week.Reply

No they”re worried, but they are incapable of stopping events. They may think they are in control, but they are not and it’s obvious.Reply
