The Green New Deal will be a winning issue for Republicans

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal is proof of the radical lurch to the left the Democratic Party has taken. If the Republicans in Congress can handle the messaging properly, attacking it will greatly enhance the Republican’s chances of retaking the House of Representatives.

Educating others online about what is contained in the
remarkably Marxist proposal will be essential if we are to arrest the steady progression
towards socialism progressives have taken this country on.

Here is the mission statement from the text of the Green New Deal

The select committee shall have authority to develop a detailed national, industrial, economic mobilization plan (hereinafter in this section referred to as the “Plan for a Green New Deal” or the “Plan”) for the transition of the United States economy to become greenhouse gas emissions neutral and to significantly draw down greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and oceans and to promote economic and environmental justice and equality.

Like all progressive proposals, the Green New Deal sounds noble while the effects will be catastrophically bad. It is essential that we inform others that transitioning our economy to one that is “greenhouse gas emission neutral” will absolutely destroy our economy.

Here are some of the more
onerous provisions of the proposal. They grant the federal government the power
to take over just about every aspect of our lives. Such power concentrated in
one governing body always results in tyranny and pain for everyone.

(A) The Plan for a Green New Deal (and the draft legislation) shall be developed with the objective of reaching the following outcomes within the target window of 10 years from the start of execution of the Plan:

1 Dramatically expand existing renewable power sources and deploy new production capacity with the goal of meeting 100% of national power demand through renewable sources;

2 building a national, energy-efficient, “smart” grid;

3 upgrading every residential and industrial building for state-of-the-art energy efficiency, comfort and safety;

4 eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from the manufacturing, agricultural and other industries, including by investing in local-scale agriculture in communities across the country;

5 eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from, repairing and improving transportation and other infrastructure, and upgrading water infrastructure to ensure universal access to clean water;

6 funding massive investment in the drawdown of greenhouse gases;

7 making “green” technology, industry, expertise, products and services a major export of the United States, with the aim of becoming the undisputed international leader in helping other countries transition to completely greenhouse gas neutral economies and bringing about a global Green New Deal.

Here are more provisions of the proposal, none of which have anything to do with the mythical beast called climate change that the proposal is supposed to slay. All of provisions are a laundry list of socialist ideals. Some may appear beneficial to those who have not studied the unending failures of socialism. Placing all of them in the hands of the federal government is dangerous

provide all members of our society, across all regions and all communities, the opportunity, training and education to be a full and equal participant in the transition, including through a job guarantee program to assure a living wage job to every person who wants one;

require strong enforcement of labor, workplace safety, and wage standards that recognize the rights of workers to organize and unionize free of coercion, intimidation, and harassment, and creation of meaningful, quality, career employment

ensure a ‘just transition’ for all workers, low-income communities, communities of color, indigenous communities, rural and urban communities and the front-line communities most affected by climate change, pollution and other environmental harm including by ensuring that local implementation of the transition is led from the community level and by prioritizing solutions that end the harms faced by front-line communities from climate change and environmental pollution;

The proposal includes a plan to
pay for all of these radical ideas. As
you can see, the plan to pay for the proposal will destroy our economy.

Many will say, “Massive government investment! How in the world can we pay for this?” The answer is: in the same ways that we paid for the 2008 bank bailout and extended quantitative easing programs, the same ways we paid for World War II and many other wars. The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments, new public banks can be created (as in WWII) to extend credit and a combination of various taxation tools (including taxes on carbon and other emissions and progressive wealth taxes) can be employed.

In addition to traditional debt tools, there is also a space for the government to take an equity role in projects, as several government and government-affiliated institutions already do.

This article from Investor’s Business Daily called Democrats’

provides a treasure
trove of well laid out criticism of the proposal.

Here is a great Breitbart article
titled Hayward:
Bernie Sanders and the Green New Deal Say Slavery Is Freedom

A few days after Sanders erupted in fury over Trump’s insult to socialism, the radicals of the Democrat Party unveiled their “Green New Deal,” a very pure expression of the Sanders idea that freedom can only be achieved when the State controls everything. It is a towering edifice of compulsion that constitutes the most open declaration of war against the American middle class we have ever seen.

This American Thinker article called Ocasio-Cortez’s
plan properly should be called the ‘Green Leap Forward’
is also essential
reading.

China’s Great Leap Forward is the correct historical model for the visionary, transformational scheme of Ocasio-Cortez’s and Ed Markey’s plan, which properly ought to be called the “Green Leap Forward.” The Great Leap Forward was the personal creation of Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, who wanted a rapid transformation of China from a backward, rural nation to a modern industrial one in the space of five, or maybe ten years, just as Ocasio-Cortez envisions a total transformation in a decade.

As I’m writing this article I see a report on Fox News that Mitch McConnell is planning to bring the Green New Deal up for a vote to demonstrate just how radical the Democrats are. That is a winning strategy. Hopefully the Republicans will keep up the attack over the proposal and step up their game. It will be a winning issue for them.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal is proof of the radical lurch to the left the Democratic Party has taken.  If the Republicans in Congress can handle the messaging properly, attacking it will greatly enhance the Republican’s chances of retaking the House of Representatives.

Educating others online about what is contained in the remarkably Marxist proposal will be essential if we are to arrest the steady progression towards socialism progressives have taken this country on.

Here are some of the more onerous provisions of the proposal. They grant the federal government the power to take over just about every aspect of our lives. Such power concentrated in one governing body always results in tyranny and pain for everyone.

(A) The Plan for a Green New Deal (and the draft legislation) shall be developed with the objective of reaching the following outcomes within the target window of 10 years from the start of execution of the Plan:

1 Dramatically expand existing renewable power sources and deploy new production capacity with the goal of meeting 100% of national power demand through renewable sources;

2 building a national, energy-efficient, “smart” grid;

3 upgrading every residential and industrial building for state-of-the-art energy efficiency, comfort and safety;

4 eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from  the manufacturing, agricultural and other industries, including by investing in local-scale agriculture in communities across the country;

5 eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from, repairing and improving transportation and other infrastructure, and upgrading water infrastructure to ensure universal access to clean water;

6 funding massive investment in the drawdown of greenhouse gases;

Placing all of them in the hands of the federal government is dangerous

provide all members of our society, across all regions and all communities, the opportunity, training and education to be a full and equal participant in the transition, including through a job guarantee program to assure a living wage job to every person who wants one;

require strong enforcement of labor, workplace safety, and wage standards that recognize the rights of workers to organize and unionize free of coercion, intimidation, and harassment, and creation of meaningful, quality, career employment

ensure a ‘just transition’ for all workers, low-income communities, communities of color, indigenous communities, rural and urban communities and the front-line communities most affected by climate change, pollution and other environmental harm including by ensuring that local implementation of the transition is led from the community level and by prioritizing solutions that end the harms faced by front-line communities from climate change and environmental pollution;

The proposal includes a plan to pay for all of these radical ideas.  As you can see, the plan to pay for the proposal will destroy our economy.

This article from Investor’s Business Daily called Democrats’ ‘Green New Deal’ Is Really A Call For Enviro-Socialism provides a treasure trove of well laid out criticism of the proposal.

Here is a great Breitbart article titled Hayward: Bernie Sanders and the Green New Deal Say Slavery Is Freedom

This American Thinker article called Ocasio-Cortez’s plan properly should be called the ‘Green Leap Forward’ is also essential reading.
